Tarrlok was able to leviate people, yet Amon was on the ground all the time, either Tarrlok made a wrong move and should have brought him up then take him down or Amon doesn't have much blood in him.
I think Amon is a cabbage hybrid sent from the future to take out avatar connar before he is born.
So, obviously, I missed a pretty damn good episode from the sound of things.
Any place I can watch the full episode now? Or should I just wait until it's on the Nick website?
You can always get it at the same place as your Linux distros.
Also,

I'd prefer it if he really was just that much of a badass. Whole backstory with him having trained for ages to counter all sorts of bending could have great impact when he finally snaps (oh and he will snap at some point), and as the redirecting of lightning shows, counters for types of bending do exist. If he really does energybend, he might just be able to redirect the bloodbending's energy within his body.
maybe amon has no blood

What ever happened to those guys? I'm assuming they starved to death?
[sp]Tarrlok had it coming. I was rootin' for Amon the whole scene.[/sp]
Sokka was probably the best character in that episode.

White Lotus guards in the line.

Funny how he mentioned [sp]killing combustion man with his boomerang.[/sp]
I've read that.
[sp]zuko will show up in episode 11[/sp]
can anyone comfirm this or link to the closest discription?
[sp]oh I have a feeling Zuko will send bombers in and cause a massive fire to the entire city, which is what Amon wants[/sp]
also, why hasn't Amon taught his bend removing skill to other people? Just so many questions now...
That's more of a water bending technique though.
A waterbending technique that can only be done by fire benders.

Lightning redirection isn't a firebender thing, lightning generation is
Iroh created the redirection by studying water bending techniques

And so far we've only ever seen firebenders do it. That's like saying the sand benders in the desert are airbenders because they made sand storms to push their boats.
It's like saying Bolin is an airbender because he's light on his feet. It doesn't work that way.

He wasn't saying that firebenders are waterbenders like you are suggesting, and he wasn't saying waterbenders could do it. He was saying that the technique of lightning redirection was created by Iroh when he was studying waterbenders. He meant the movements and form of lightning redirection would resemble waterbending more than fire. This much has been said in the first show.

Amon hasn't taught the other equalists because:

Amon hasn't taught the other equalists because:
1. Its not permanent and the secret would get loose
2. He wants to maintain his leadership; as in if he taught someone they might create a new group
3. He is secretly a bender and teaching someone else might cause the other person to remove Amon's bending and his leadership
4. Only Amon is capable of doing it
5. Amon is lazy
So I guess the airbender on the council next to Sokka was young Tenzin? Must've been or that'd be a major plot hole.

I know. However the sand benders used sand to kick up a storm and push their boats, but no one calls them air bending techniques, Bolin moves like a firebender and he only plants his feet during the actual bending, which is entirely contrary to the earth bending techniques of the first series. We've also seen water benders move ice like it was rock and throw it like an earthbender no one said they were using earth bending techniques.
Also, firebending is a very fluid thing when done properly. The fire nation army all used a lot of stomping and grunting, but when Iroh did it it was smooth sweeping motions. Zuko and Aang did the same thing when they learned the fire bending dance.
Besides which, Iroh developed lightning redirection. As a firebending technique. I know it was inspired by water benders, but he, a firebender, still developed it on his own.

Air Acolyte? On Air Temple Island there's atleast 14 of those guys.
Anyone got a link to where I can watch todays episode?

I was under the assumption that a) bending was in the genes and b) Aang was the last airbender in his time. Is there an explanation why there are others?

People probably just helping Tenzin or people who could possibly be trained to be air benders? Plus you'd think if Aang had the time to build Republic City he'd try to train people if they could in the ways of air bending.
Just watched the new episode about Tarloc.
[sp]I think it would be fricken awesome if Katara came along and blood-bended him, showed him what a true blood bender is[/sp]
Sokka was voiced by Chris Hardwick?

woah that episode.
[sp] I wonder if Amon is actually the spiritual side of the avatar state, thats why aang isn't saying anything about him. maybe when he goes to try and take korra's bending away they fuse together and she turns into the avatar state. [/sp]

Mike and Bryan have stated in an interview that bending is a combination of spirituality and genetics, so only descendants of airbenders and the Avatar can learn to airbend.
Since a representative doesn't have to be a bender to serve on the council, the previous Air Nomads' representative was likely just an Air Acolyte.
It's weird though- Katara can waterbend but her parents can't. How exactly does one get bending?

Yea, as Kryss said. You can't really learn how to bend if you're a non-bender, and the same goes for you can't bend one element if you can bend another- otherwise the avatar wouldn't really be all that unique.
I know. They never said those things because there were never entire episodes devoted to any of the main characters learning them. I've always assumed most of those things you mentioned were inspired by other benders. Like earth benders studied air benders and learned how to bend sand into a storm like Iroh studied waterbenders.
Also I don't really think there are many absolutes in the avatar universe when it comes to stye. I mean when Aang wanted to blast something with air he moved his stick across in a fluid motion. When Tenzin wants to blast someone with air he thrusts his palm towards them similar to how a fire bender thrusts his fist to blast fire at someone. I imagine all bending can be similar and that many techniques and styles are shared between all forms of bending.
Ah well I'm moving off to a larger topic. The fact is despite how fluid "proper" firebending is Iroh has said lightning redirection was based on waterbenders, that is what the original person meant when they said it was more of a waterbending technique. They just phrased it poorly.
It's weird though- Katara can waterbend but her parents can't. How exactly does one get bending?
Perhaps further back in her family tree there are waterbenders and it just skipped a generation or something?
Either that or it has to do with your spirit. I mean there seems to be reincarnation in this universe, so it might just be you're always a bender in every life. I tend to think of it like a gift. Some people are born with this gift but it can be ignored, you need to open the gift (with bending training) in order to use what is inside.
Or hell maybe it's a mix of both things. Your past lives determine whether you can bend or not and your genetics determine what element you can bend.
It's weird though- Katara can waterbend but her parents can't. How exactly does one get bending?
Katara's mother was a water bender, right?
edit: No...she wasn't. Forgot, sorry.
