[sp]I wonder if Yakone bloodbending Aang's body had anything to do with Aang's deteriorating health 20 years later. All that bloodbending seemed pretty painful.[/sp]
Perhaps further back in her family tree there are waterbenders and it just skipped a generation or something? Either that or it has to do with your spirit. I mean there seems to be reincarnation in this universe, so it might just be you're always a bender in every life. I tend to think of it like a gift. Some people are born with this gift but it can be ignored, you need to open the gift (with bending training) in order to use what is inside. Or hell maybe it's a mix of both things. Your past lives determine whether you can bend or not and your genetics determine what element you can bend.
It's probably an individual's own level of spirituality and a dominant expression of a bending gene that determines whether or not an individual can bend. The Air Nomads were all highly spiritual, and as a result every single one of them were airbenders, compared to the less spiritual cultures of the other nations.
I just got the image of [sp]amon walking towards tarlok while the song "ain't nothing gonna break my stride" is playing getting inches closer[/sp] if anyone takes my idea ill murder you nojoke.
I'm pretty sure they used the [sp]flashback where Aang is able to shrug off Yakone's bloodbending in the Avatar State as a way to foreshadow Tarlock's inability to properly bend Amon. In other words, Amon's inability to be bent means he has some sort of Spirit World association.[/sp]
[sp]The Yakone flashbacks felt a little rushed. Like Aang was about to get crumpled up and suddenly Avatar State. I still liked it though[/sp]

I am fairly certain that Amon's whole purpose of existence is to be more badass that everyone.
Maybe it was not a firebender that took Amon's face, but Koh
Imagine if Amon found Wan Shi Tong's library, it could sum up most of his knowledge and training. If Amon was the reincarnation or a disciple of Wan Shi Tong, then it could sum up his backstory which hasn't been shown as of yet shorty with only 3 episodes left (two if you combine the last two), but it would be too far out there and conflict with some of Wan Shi Tong's previous stances.
You better make a gif, or even a video
I will soon when a hd video pops up.
[sp]oh I have a feeling Zuko will send bombers in and cause a massive fire to the entire city, which is what Amon wants[/sp]
[sp]Zuko is no longer the Fire Lord, he's just some traveling old man.[/sp]

I'm going to be extremely surprised if Amon isn't related to the Airbenders in some way, shape or form. He moves like the leaf and it even looks like he created an air bubble to surround himself in the latest episode.
White Lotus guards in the line.
Looking at this it reminds me of people going to a firing squad to be executed.
The Air Acolytes aren't airbenders, they're just people who have adopted the Air Nomad philosophy and live on Air Temple Island. Mike and Bryan have stated in an interview that bending is a combination of spirituality and genetics, so only descendants of airbenders and the Avatar can learn to airbend. Since a representative doesn't have to be a bender to serve on the council, the previous Air Nomads' representative was likely just an Air Acolyte.
It'd be interesting if the children of an Avatar had the possibility to bend any of the elements, but we haven't really seen any indication of that...
I hope Amon is a victim of Koh. He seemed interesting in the first season but he was only there for one episode.
I hope Amon is a victim of Koh. He seemed interesting in the first season but he was only there for one episode.
True, but we can see his eyes, so that is highly unlikely.
True, but we can see his eyes, so that is highly unlikely.
Don't you see? He's painted them on so people would still think he had one
Didn't Koh say something like "I'm sure I'll see you again" to Aang in the first series?

They are the only people who would know airbender techniques. [editline]10th June 2012[/editline] And I'm pretty sure one of them was a non-bender.
I hope that Amon is Aang's non bending kid. Think of King Bumi, for example.
