Why does Amon only start struggling when he's hit by the moonlight?

Uh, because Tarrlok starts trying harder, as seen in that gif.
When Amon showed up in front of Tarrlok I was like "Take that bitch's bending away!"
That was my favorite scene in the whole episode. That just made my week.

Who thought this was a good idea?
I AM THE AVATAR AND YOU GOTTA DEAL WITH IT
They're two people in two different places at the same time, speaking to each other in two different voices... What more proof could you possible need?
It is obvious that amon is really a body and being blood bended by tarlock who is speaking from his stomach to sound like a different person.
[sp]Did anyone see the Aircraft Carriers and Battleships at the end? I know the creators said they were basing this off the 1920s era, but I didn't think they would go that far to do it. Maybe we will see Metal benders bending machine gun bullets.[/sp]
Originally I thought Amon was not that great a villain in comparison to Ozai. After a few episodes, he seemed ok. After the most recent episode, I am really liking his character. Really looking forward to learning about who and what he is.
i think my favorite part of Amon is that he is a good villain of sorts. As far as i have seen he doesn't want to rule so much as do what he sees is bettering the world. he doesn't kill benders just takes their powers. i could be seeing this totally wrong, but i prefer villains that aren't total scumbags
I smell something bad from Asami, she's getting really jealous.
I want more spirit action stuff!

To quote one FPer (whose name escapes me) from a while back: 'There are few better villains than those who think the protagonist is the villain.'

Season final will show us some of that, I'm sure.
Watched episode 9.
Pretty good, i like how they actually made the Equalist guards chat instead of just being silent and kind of dull.
Season finale teaser looked awesome.

These two were voiced by Mike and Bryan

I'm curious as to why he decided to keep people like Lin's officers locked up, though. Once their bending's gone, they aren't really a threat anymore.

Of course they're a threat. Just because they can't bend doesn't mean they can't oppose him. And having non-benders actively oppose him would undermine Amon's entire plan.
He only imprisoned the metalbending police and Tarrlok. They would oppose him even without bending. He let the Wolfbats go and we don't know what happened to the gangsters during his big show.
Besides, having your bending removed doesn't automatically align you with Amon, they could be even more of a threat to him if they kept opposing him.
Screw you, Janus... I think..
Here is a screen shot of Amon's eye from this trailer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0a1tf3pkBc&feature=g-u-u

I've always thought a good villain was someone you wish would be a good guy because they were so awesome.

A good villain is one who sees the protagonist as a villain.

Possibly because Tarrlok's bending increases with the moonlight, as it does with all waterbenders.
Also I know Amon is the mysterious villain, but we only see him during night sequences. And hes always fully garbed except for the spots where we can see his eyes. Maybe he has a problem with natural light from the moon or sun or perhaps he has a very revealing feature on his skin?

He was burned to an inch from death. I think that would count as "a very revealing feature".

In this case, it is both for me :v:
I really want to know how Amon was able to overcome Tarrlok's bloodbending.
I really want to know how Amon was able to overcome Tarrlok's bloodbending.
He's probably associated in some way with the Spirit world.
Or maybe Amon's a robot being run by tiny people pulling levers and strings inside his body.
I really want to know how Amon was able to overcome Tarrlok's bloodbending.
maybe sato industry rebuilt him, they had the technology.
combustion man from tla had robotic parts on his body so it is entirely possible for amon to have parts like those.

Amon is Adam Jensen
Amon is Adam Jensen
Amon is robocop.
I had a quick glance through the thread to see if someone's posted this already, but I didn't find anything.
Amon related musings here, contains Avatar: The Last Airbender spoilers.
[sp]Both Aang and Fire Lord Ozai have participated in energy bending. In fact, Ozai even seemed to be defeating Aang for a while.
Maybe having such hands-on experience with energy bending has taught him enough to pass it down to someone else?
Maybe Amon is a descendant of someone acquainted with Ozai, but I don't see who that would be.
Azula is supposed to have been put into a mental health facility, otherwise my money would be on her.[/sp]
I love how [sp]Toph still called Aang twinkle toes when they were older[/sp]
