Amon's powers come from his hatred of benders. He gets his own mech later that is fueled by hatred and angst
You're making Amon sound like a less ugly Palpatine. Wait? Mask, burned face, hood!? AMON IS EMPEROR PALPATINE!
so there was a closup for Amon's eyes in an earlier episode and they were greenish, (I'm color blind), yet in the trailer for the upcomming episode they were a dark green or brown? Contacts were invented around the same era of our world in korra's time, but I doubt amon would put the effort into using color contacts if he could. So if the different color in Amon's eye's wern't a mistake, then Amon might not be a person but a collection of people sharing the same mask. Also it would be amazing and bold, not to mention people would rage, if tenzin was amon, could have had a double on stage to chi block the bats.

I feel like right now Amon is the "villain" in this whole situation, but there might be some greater threat that he's trying to prevent because he has connections to the spiritual world, so he might've seen something or was shown something that spells the end of the world. Maybe we'll see some sort of begrudging team up going on later?
Maybe Amon is just a bad dude who needs to be stopped by Team Avatar

My mind cannot process such a mindblowing concept.

It focuses on some of the pacing struggles due to the smaller number of episodes and how that affects the relationships (romantic and otherwise) between the characters. It also touches on the "show, don't tell" aspect of writing [sup]I still like this show, though[/sup] [sup][sub]Try to overlook the massive amount of tumblr gifs[/sub][/sup]
It sucks that Korra/Mako is really weak but that's just how it's going to end up It's so forced that it's almost painful to watch

I was watching The Beach a few minutes ago, Azula reminds of GLaDOS, her psychotic, malevolent, demeanor. We need someone else like that.
It sucks that Korra/Mako is really weak but that's just how it's going to end up It's so forced that it's almost painful to watch
One of the interesting aspects of that post was how Bolin actually describes why he likes Korra, whilst Mako didn't. They also showed them having somewhat similar personalities and interests. I think this is why many wanted Bolin to date Korra, even Tahno seems to seen by the fandom as a more viable bachelor. Another thing is, Bolin's initial description was that he always had a lady on his arm. That hasn't been very apparent, only implied in episode 2 and never brought up again. In fact they changed it in the republic city game to look like he struggles in comparison to Mako. Perhaps the "fangirls" line was placed to describe the future real world audience who will root for Bolin anyway, knowing he will be unlucky at love in future episodes?

When I first watched this show, I was like "Hey, this Bolin dude's pretty cool. Friendly, not too forward, kinda goofy but not stupid." Then I saw Mako: "Initially doesn't like her, better looking than Bolin, brooding, serious... this guy's going to be the love interest, isn't he?" I'm not a shipper, but I recall thinking that, at least initially, Bolin was a much better fit for Korra than Mako. I have no problem with relationship stuff (episode five, anyone?) but it needs to be handled smoothly. The implication with Bolin is that he was heartbroken when he saw the two kissing. You could see by the end of the episode that he had at least partially recovered, but that subplot isn't touched up on again at all. Since then, he's slipped from goofy to Goofy, acting by far the most cartoonish of all the characters and not really contributing anything. He's bothered more by the idea that Asami will find out that Korra and Mako kissed than he is that Korra and Mako kissed. I don't think Mako's a bad guy, it's just that his protective nature wasn't well-developed. You got the sense that he cared, but didn't really know how to express it. However, in episode 9 he's falling over himself to protect Korra when pretty much nobody else cares - they're concerned about the issue in general, but are pretty much distant overall. [editline]13th June 2012[/editline]
I don't think he was so much a ladies man so much as the girls were using him to get to Mako.
I disagree; the quickness with which he [accidentally] implies "She's with me" and the shout of "I LOVE YOU BOLIN" from the crowd suggests he is a ladies' man. However, it's "show, not tell" and we've been told but not shown that he's good with the womens.
During the run of the early episodes I heard some people say that they made Makorra to make up for Zutara, because of water and fire. The creators are pushing the "opposites attract", which is normally prevalent in the media as opposed to a bit more similar personalities with Bolin. It would make sense storytelling wise as it creates conflict. However, it just seems jarring to the audiences right now. Perhaps if Bolin didn't exist to begin with, the love conflict would make a bit more sense as he wouldn't unintentionally look like a better candidate, thereby making the possibility that "similarities attract". They didn't push an idea why opposites are better. But, in real life, "opposite attract" isn't a guarantee for successful relationships.
Am I the only one who doesn't care about the relationship status of the avatar and her friends
Am I the only one who doesn't care about the relationship status of the avatar and her friends
The over use of putting romance into every story even when it doesn't call for it can get irritating. Amon and the Equalists is still interesting and the changing dynamics of bending and non bending relations is still something to look for. So I don't think many people will stop watching. /co/'s opinion on Korra however seems to have completely shifted from positive to negative though. Mainly about the writing.
I don't really think they have focused on the intimate relationships between the characters heavily at all. Just the right amount.
I wonder if the reason why Amon can Energy-bend and [sp]resist blood-bending[/sp] is because of his mask. I know it's a silly theory but something tells me that it has to do with the mask.
Am I the only one who doesn't care about the relationship status of the avatar and her friends
I care so far as it directly relates to the plot (causing conflict between the characters). I don't "ship" and I certainly don't refer to pairings by portmanteaus. [editline]14th June 2012[/editline] WIP [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/40378683/dd%20wip.jpg[/t]
Am I the only one who doesn't care about the relationship status of the avatar and her friends
I wouldn't care if it didn't butt in on the development of other characters and make the Gary Sue look like an asshole
