• I'm considering applying for a job.

That OP has been added to my list of awkward posts on Facepunch.
I would get a summer job, too bad that most of my time at summer is going for studying 3D since my actual schooling comes in the way. I would quit school, but everyone is bitching so much about how important a piece of paper is for getting a job. But is it more important to have a piece of paper that says that you know something (media) or having as much knowledgeb about the material that you want to work with in the future (digital art 2d, 3d, animation et.c.)? In school we have a small course on flash animation and that's it. But we have a crapload of video and photography, two subjects that of one I'm not a big fan of and another that I loathe.
Working part-time as a telemarketer, around 10 hours a week and I get 1200$ a month. Just look for all kinds of jobs in your local area and you will find one soon.
Why is FP becoming the diary of every teenager in the English-speaking world? Not to be an asshole, but nobody honestly cares that you either: • You found a shitty ring from LOTR • You're "considering" getting a job • You were a social failure but now you're not
Speak for yourself, I love reading about what stuff other people are doing, especially if they can write up a good story.
Grocery store attendant, telemarketer, RadioShack employee...all suitable, non fast food examples.
(13-16) Newspaper round at a hughe flat (no walking since all the mailboxes are in one room) (15-20) Electronics Salesman at It's electronics (Computers, tv's audio, etc) Went bankrupt. (20-Present) Electronics Salesman Correct electronics, High end/professional audio and tv's. I can honestly say I wouldnt have had my second job if not for my flawless record on the first job. And I wouldnt have my third job if I wasnt Part time salesmen of the year on my second job (about 1 month before it went bankrupt) Moral:Doing well in your previous job helps you climb up the ladder. [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] Oh and people love to hire college/university students.
Have fun working for the man. :tinfoil:
Gonna do a Barista course, then I'll work by making the thing I love :3:
Maybe you should consider applying for fast threads.
I worked a grocery store at that age, just fill out an application, wait a few days, then call them up and say "hey I applied recently and I just want to know the status of my application". This shows a bit of initiative and a good chance they might get your application to the top of the pile.
he can't have good initiative if you're telling him to :v:
We don't care.

I had the SAME THOUGHT AS YOU (it's just a piece of paper).. IT IS NOT just a piece of paper. It is the ONLY WAY to prove you posses the knowledge you claim and also shows you are a hard worker. TRUST ME. I quit school when I turned 16 thinking that same thing and look at me now, I am a HUGE LOSER with absolutely NO friends, who is so depressed that can't even manage to bathe/brush teeth more than 2 times a week, or clean my own room more than once a month and has to wade through a mess just to shit or piss. I've become a hermit with severe social phobias who is hardly able to ask how much something is a the store and can't even get a G.E.D. because I wont be able to be around the people. If you think I am lying, don't come crying. Just don't forget it, you'll regret it. I know best.

Good luck! its hard enough too get a job and you won't get one if you have that bad an attitude! DICK!
It is an option.
It is an option.
You should use the option then.
What makes you think I haven't been for years already?
What makes you think I haven't been for years already?
You never said anything, how was I to know
Getting a job is dumb at your age. Sell weed, or harder drugs for optimal profit. And since you're under 17, you can get charged as a juvie and you're off scratch free
It was a reasonable assumption to think I wasn't since I seem to be at rock bottom :buddy:

Well if you don't wanna be scum and live off of food stamps and welfare than a job is what you need.
Hello Facepunch. Basically all of my friends have been getting jobs and trying to get them, and I figured it is time I get one. I am 16, almost 17 and a Sophmore in highschool. Currently my grades lack a bit, but I've been doing better. I never study at home and such, and I think that getting a job will help me get off the computer and work on my school work more. I am thinking about applying at Olive Garden or Home Depot and wanted to know if anyone has had an experiences there? I would of course likely be a dishwasher or a greeter of some sort, or likely work a cash register. I live in Virginia where the minimum wage is 7.25 an hour, and I calculated it to be around 5.2k USD a year including Tax. I wanted to know if any of you could help boost me to get a job, or if you find it is a good idea at all. Again, I really think a job would benefit my self-esteem, and cause my grades to improve a lot more, of course I'm unsure of that because I have never had previous work experience. I really am the type that enjoys work, no matter what type of work it is (As long as it isn't something disgusting or despicable) I also get out of school at 3:15 so I was wondering if hours would be an issue. Thanks, and if I get a job I plan on saving up until I'm 18 and buying a cheap car and some other things I need. Edit: I'm also having a bit of trouble giving my parents motivation to allow me to get a job.
Do not consider to get a job. Get one. Olive Garden would be a great place to work. You can work dinner shifts starting at anywhere from 4:00 to 5:00 PM I'm sure, which means you will be done school and can go to work shortly after. You will definitely be called in to work or to cover shifts for people when you're not scheduled though, and you may end up working like a week straight or something if you're short staffed. Do it. Why are you posting about it here? I don't get this place some times.
Well if you don't wanna be scum and live off of food stamps and welfare than a job is what you need.
HERE HERE
Well if you don't wanna be scum and live off of food stamps and welfare than a job is what you need.
That doesn't make you scum.
That doesn't make you scum.
It does if you're not disabled or of older age.
It does if you're not disabled or of older age.
Or a single mom, or anyone who has it since if you are receiving it then you are in a situation where you need assistance to survive. Either that or you're committing fraud.
i think we can assume that a teenage boy posting on facepunch is not a single mom.
i think we can assume that a teenage boy posting on facepunch is not a single mom.
I think we can assume that we're posting on facepunch, so that teenage boy posting can roleplay a single mom. :q:
