She's essentially become the DC's female answer to marvels Deadpool. And i think that's made her more tolerable or more annoying depending on what kind of reader you are.
Honestly I think its just the Joker who happens to lean more towards the gangster/crminal angle of the character but updated for the modern stereotype of a gangster/crminal.

I don't know anything about the comics, but doesn't really make much sense for Joker or Harley to be in some sort of super secret squad. Like, what are their skills besides sometimes inexplicably being able to fight Batman better than a henchman?

you can say the same thing about cpt boomerang since all he does is throw stuff.
idk if you know this but the joker is an expert in poisons and harley is mostly about acrobatics and guns.
Isn't there a comic or something in which Harley was injected with some chemical (I think from Poison Ivy) which gave her enhanced strength and mobility?
And I believe one of Joker's strengths is his unpredictability which makes it very hard for Batman (who is supposed to be the world's greatest detective) to be able to effectively counter and stop his plots.
Joker's also a genius-level master chemist and I think he had hacking skills too.

lol @ upset people. When the movie was announced everyone was like holy guacamole jared leto as joker is the best casting decision ever and now everyones like "its gonna be bad!" and only because people want DC to fail for some reason.
Christ, Will Smith looks so out of place in this universe.
I have really mixed feelings about this. There have been things in the trailers that I really loved, and other things that I'm really not a fan of. I still haven't decided if I'm going to see it or not.

For me its vice versa, I remember everyone was thinking its a shit idea to have Jared as Joker, but this trailer sold him for me.
Everyone I know was excited when Leto was getting to be the Joker, because he could play classic Joker really well.
We were really upset when we got... ghetto Joker?
