He use's gasoline to ignite the flames (Flammable) but doesn't think it's explosive.
He probably worded it incorrectly in the interview using explosive to describe the way the fire flared up. But he's still an idiot for pouring that much gasoline onto the brush pile.

Yeah, if it properly exploded, the video would have been way more hilarious and there would have been some severed limbs.

My friends did something just as stupid with using deodorant and a plastic bag and spraying the bag with a whole can of deodorant and sticking their heads in to see how to set it alight. Burnt all these eyebrows, nosehair and partly the side of their hair.
I love how he did his goofy little dance as he blew himself up.
