I work at a movie theater and whenever I walk past the poster for this movie, I just have to laugh because it looks so bad. I mean look at the dude's head/face.

It's bad even for a kid's movie poster.

That looks literal Sharknado levels of bad to the point where you have a hard time believing it's unironic.
I saw a movie reviewer on TV say Monster Trucks is alright as a kids film so I'm actually kinda curious what it's like.
But yeah that fucking face in the poster :v:.
There's a lot of mediocre looking original movies and reboots coming out on 2017, but at least there are a couple films that look more promising like Get Out.

This one is being directed by Jordan Peele from Key and Peele, btw.
I'm not hyped to watch the movie, I'm hyped to watch it in a theater full of black guys and their girlfriends. It's going to be the best night of the year
Why is the Rock in every movie now? When did that start happening?
I can already see the anime/waifu edits of Endless Trash.
Now I really want to see that.
It's gonna be a good year.
Haven't the new Planet of the Apes movies all been well received so far? I've been meaning to watch them for a while but haven't had the chance to yet.
I think the point of the sequel segment was to take note of the sheer amount of them and not really the lack of quality.
Why is the Rock in every movie now? When did that start happening?
he's charismatic on and off-screen, family friendly, unique looking (read: recognizable) and probably very easy to work with given his experience, not to mention his significant social media presence
even before he had any truly massive hits, he had three or four disney-backed projects to prop him up as an action comedy man. then fast five came along and solidified his place in hollywood, and now you have stuff like san andreas which rode entirely on his star power
add in proper PR and a diligent avoidance of controversy, and you've got a winning recipe
edit: this was supposed to come off as cynical but i sound like a fanboy
I can walk down the street and see clean across the valley.
To the fields they filmed Monster Truck in.

These hills will forever be remembered for this and every day I will have to look straight at them while driving to work.

You're saying that like it's a problem. I like the Rock, I don't mind seeing him more often.

Don't worry. It's a very common occurance when talking about the Rock.
Can't wait for the next movie review from Red Letter "Original Oscar Films Only" Media.

I think it's hard for film reviewers to not become a little snobby.
I can be entertained by the occasional marvel movie, but I can't blame these guys for thinking they're formulaic, uninspired bullshit when they have to watch them all the time.
It's not even a matter of being snobby, they liked fucking Cowboy vs. Aliens. You don't need to make a fucking masterpiece that makes you think about your life and achieve an higher level of consciousness, you just need to make a competently made movie with an alright plot, not The Sequel of The Prequel of The Reboot of The Remake of The Movie IIX: Alternate Universes.
The vast majority of what RLM talk about are mainstream movies. They're not snobs they just have their own opinions and preferences.

How much of their stuff do you watch? I remember they once came out of a 'best of the worst' session with a new favorite movie. I think it was Xtro or something like that?

I tried to get into half-in-the-bag but I just got tired of it, there's the occasional movie they seem to actually like but then it seems like they just take a heaping shit on everything else.

Well yeah, they mostly pick shit movies to talk about on it.
they enjoy a lot of shit movies too
mike stated that even really shitty movies are worth a watch as long as its entertaining (death wish 3 comes to mind)
i didn't think Logan looked too bad tbh
i didn't think Logan looked too bad tbh
Agreed but it's not to say all these films looked bad (pretty much most of them did though), just that there is nothing original with any of them
There is still hope though, A Cure for Wellness is something I'm excited for
