You can't even take it for a checkup? My 81 year old granfather found out my cat is blind and has cataracts and wants to pay the $4500 surgery cost.
But the vet said he wasn't in any pain and he was fine, and if he's fine and feels no pain then it's not worth the hassle of putting drops in his eyes 3 times a day for the rest of his life.

My cat had exactly the same thing. Their hair is naturally kinda thin right there. But that area of their face is also prone to staph infections which can spread so I'd take it to a vet as soon as you can.

my dog had something like that at age 15, it was tumor wart (only much smaller than that.) i would take him to the vet.
If you can't afford to take your pet to the vet for a checkup you shouldn't be owning one in the first place.
