I feel almost exactly the same...We're like the only people in the world, man. :v:
Only thing is I would rank Kazooie above DK64 personally. But Tooie goes above both of 'em.
At the very least I'll always rank Tooie over Kazooie because I could never fucking remember which notes I had collected in a level of Kazooie and them not respawning in Tooie was the greatest gift to me.
Also... why is he shitting on Unity? There are so, so many games that are awesome that run on Unity
Unity has a stigma behind it that every game made on it will be shit, since it's super easy to make games on it and as a result, there's a lot of crappy unity games.
People don't really shit on UE4 tho'
You can get good performance out of Unity, but its fair share of issues make it harder. This is further evident with Yooka-Laylee.
I still wonder why people were even calling it a "true comeback of 3D collect-a-ton platformer" when A Hat in Time clearly put that genre back in the spotlight for this generation, ignoring the fact AHiT is taking 4 years and was probably forgotten and this only took 1.5 years. I can understand if people say it's because of Playtonic made of former Rare developers, in which they made fucking awesome games back in the SNES/N64 era.
You kind of answered your question in your own post
Dunk acknowledges Gex?! Shitty or not, I really like Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3!

A hat in time is taking so long to come out people forgot it exists.
I think Yooka Laylee isn't a bad game, but also lacks something (i'm not talking about game mechanics like the glitchy camera, everyone already know that.)
The worlds look nice and the art style seems solid, but everything looks so boring and generic, expecially compared to Banjo's levels, A Hat In Time feels less polished regarding assets and 3d models, but everything looks way more original and interesting that YL
A hat in time is taking so long to come out people forgot it exists.
At the very least, the final version is supposed to be coming out this year, so that's good.
is it just me or does yooka laylee's lighting/shadows look like they didn't bother touching the unity defaults or something? I'm not a game dev but it looks really jarring. the game is cartoony but the shadows are fully rendered and realistic.
It has so little new or original things to it. It really just is a HD Banjo Kazooie rip, would prefer a original new platformer..
That was literally the point from the start
people wanted a new Banjo that much
Blame microsoft for fucking rare over as badly as they did
and blame capcom for neglecting megaman so massively that the hype for Mighty No. 9 could even exist.
i feel like i'm in the minority here but i just don't like yooka laylee's art style.
it might be the super smoothness and shine on everything. add bloom to that and... ech.
...What the FUCK does that mean though? Complaining that BOTW isn't a 'true' Zelda game is so fucking stupid it's kinda incredible. The series has always been pseudo open world, and multiple times in the series you've been dropped into a big world and told to just go "do whatever". Other ones have had durability, other ones have had crafting, dungeons in your own order.
Breath of the Wild is just a fusion of all the 'open' aspects of the other games, mechanically it's nearly identical to control as many other earlier titles, just with a dedicated jump button.
Please, please tell me where his bullshit reasoning comes from, I rarely get so invested in someone else's opinion unless it's extremely incomprehensible
to be honest BotW seems like a positive regression back to the very first game that made the series. Much like Doom, Shadow Warrior, Resident Evil has seen.
It focuses on "Ok, go explore" more than other recent zelda games from what I see from what people say about it

This was literally what it was suppose to be. It's advertised as taking huge inspiration from the first game and it was also advertised as trying to be dramatically different from the standard Zelda format. The people who complain that it's not like a normal Zelda are fucking dumb because that's what it was advertised as

I'll take a wild guess and say it'll launch Late Summer 2017, because if he releases it on this year's Holiday, Super Mario Odyssey will eat it alive.

Considering Hat in Time doesn't even have secure plans for console versions I don't think they have to worry about competing with a Switch exclusive game.

True, I do hope he releases it on the Switch in the future (he did wanted to release it on a Nintendo platform) but Super Mario Odyssey will be grabbing most of the attention so they'll need to advertise the game good enough, or at the very least grab GameXplain and IGN's attention. Good thing is the game is only going to be $20.

I disagree massively. The game's really gorgeous and I love the way it looks.
As someone who grew up with a playstation, I'm glad Naughty Dog or insomniac didn't come back from the past to get my hopes up and disappoint me.

Not only is the style they went for bland, but their character designs are pretty uninspired and really badly executed

Idk about you guys but they're weirdly smoothed, inconsistent, and pretty ugly imo, aside from major characters like Y&L and Trouser. I noticed this especially on the minecart guy, look at that horrible texturing and smoothing. It's like sub-tier TF2, lowest-rated, Steam Workshop slop. I don't want to touch any of them. The game has no style [sp]and it has no grace[/sp]
[editline].[/editline]
I typed that in a grumpy huff and I guess the designs aren't uninspired, they're pretty imaginative actually. I think I meant to say that the artstyle itself is uninspired. Looks like a student's first time in ZBrush
A hat in time looks so cool... but I don't think it's ever coming out

Relax, it will. If you have a Twitter account, you can follow them. They're much, much more active there and usually posts a picture every week.

Bro honestly there's no reason to shill the game every time someone mentions it.
That being said, Hat in Time will never come out

Why not?
Why not?
The Developer is notorious for not following up and finishing projects
It also doesn't help that a Hat in Time has been in development for so long that it went from visually impressive to almost generic looking, despite the great artstyle.

Could you link some stuff about that? I can't seem to find info with quick google searches.

I believe a lot of stuff was deleted with the great forum purge here. He was a user here, there was also the thing where he would use stolen assets and not pay his developers for the work on models and animations
Don't forget SLAG Gaming, that's the big one when he left unexpectedly and left it to die. At least some people that were mods on that revived it and renamed it.

Using this stuff as search terms I found the "Fortress' Edge (TF2 Parkour)" thread. It seems to be the last remnants of that whole thing. At least I think it's related? Ton of broken images and links though.

Oh yeah, are we talking about Mecha the Slag? He was the center of a shitton of forum drama a few years ago. He's the dev of A Hat in Time?! No fucking way.
