Probably been said but, if you were paying them, and your shit got sold/stolen/lost/damaged, They. Are. Liable.
Pretty sure even if you sold a waver saying they wouldn't be held accountable, you could take them to court and still win
I just found two pictures of my mom in the pantry in a box. Also my friend came over (Yes he is the on site employee) and he told me the pictures were thrown out and he hopes I get some sort of revenge.

Did your friend know that they were doing this? Or did he just find out, investigated, and found that the pictures were thrown out.
His friend is an asshole. Reagrdless of whether the OP paid or didn't pay, a friend would have at least stepped up for the photos. Personal items like that are worthless fiscally, so the seedy storage depot owners wouldn't have objected to his saving them.
Instead, dude's playing some XBox.
How do you know he's doing any of that? :raise:

His "close friend" worked there, didn't step up for the OP when his shit was getting pillaged by the storage people. He also didn't seem to give the OP a heads-up that there may have been an problem with his payments. Ergo; an asshole. It's my own distaste in my fellow man that makes me assume the friend is profiting in some way.
I could be wrong, but at the very least, dude is a poor friend for not stepping up. I'd have quit a job that fucked over one of my friends if they did business there.
