Shirley can actually sing. That's nice.
[sp]That, Chang and Jason Alexander were only positive things from that episode. And puppets were goddamn adorable.[/sp]
this weeks episode is the trippiest thing since cocaine
wait what
I really hated that episode, but that's also because I can't stand musicals.
Yeah, that episode kind of sucked balls. I could have gotten the exact same entertainment by looking at pictures of them all in puppet form, laughing, and doing something else for the other 29 minutes.
You know what the problem with this season is? No focus on actual college life. It's either getting completely caught up in some gimmick or focusing on shit outside, and more of the fucking Dean. Holy shit, I wish that annoying fuck would just stay in his office for one fucking week. But anyway, this puppet shit was a pathetic attempt to capture the success gimmicks have had in the past, but they missed what made them good: actually paralleling it to things that might happen in a community college, or at least situations that are drastically different from the original context, like Abed's Shawshank/Prison Break thing (Which totally worked, since didn't consume the whole episode like this did).
In the last episode, I imagined the study group talking normally and in the dean's head he hears them singing. Made it funnier to me.
I was so excited, the Dean came in the room dressed normally. Being strange but you know not crazy, and they had to ruin it. He had to be dressed up as pinocchio under his suit.
I don't see what you guys hated about that episode...
I loved it. The songs were good, the puppets were adorable, there were some great jokes ("Square!"). It was pretty quintessential Community, it felt like something no other show would ever do.

It was not, absolutely NOT quintessential community. It used to be at least kind of about the Community College experience, sure there were episodes that parodied things but they managed to fit into the mould of the regular occurrence really well, and sometimes even highlight how movies could be like real life. This was just fucking stupid, it was totally removed from their usual lives, and the whole "we need an adventure" thing wasn't a good excuse for it.

I cannot agree with this enough. In the previous episodes things not being realistic (like the stop motion) are subtly suggested that it's just Abed's perspective, in this episode that didn't happen. Also it was a flashback which to my knowledge is something that hasn't been used before in Community. Let's not forget the Dean pretty much ran that episode when his character is nearly entirely composed of being a crossdresser and his wierd attraction to Jeff. Really the only thing tieing this to its namesake is the study room and the Dean, I can't even remember what subject they are studying right now.
Also, where the fuck did Duncan go? He was the best character on the show and he just disappeared. Immeasurably more enjoyable as a character than the fucking Dean.
I remember Troy just asking if anyone had seen him, but it was kind of brushed off and never referred to again. Is Britta still in his Psychology class?
I miss when the Dean actually tried to get shit done and favored the study group and was attracted to Jeff
Instead of him creepily hitting on Jeff 24/7
I gotta admit, I am getting pretty sick of the Dean costume thing. Just give us more of Alison Brie thrusting her perky little tits around...

You just had to go make that sentence creepy as fuck.
Much better than last week. Minimum Dean, and Dark Timeline was awesome.
Glad to see an episode that actually had something to do with them being in college.

that didn't take place in college
also it's funny to see all the "uh, Pierce isn't here because *shoehorn*" every week, how many episodes is Chevy even in?
Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure that these were the last few episodes shot (The puppet one, this one and I believe the next one). Hence why he's not there, I'm fairly certain that there may be one or two episodes he's still in left.

I never said it took place in college, just had something to do with them being in college.
They invited the professor over to try and appeal their grade. Even if they weren't on campus, this had more to do with them being students than just about any other episode this season.
The ending of that episode seemed rushed, as in that they couldn't find another way to put it in.
This episode was fantastic. Also [sp]Jeff admitting that he's proud of Troy going after a relationship, as if he can't on his own.[/sp]
That was a great episode.
Donald and Danny's impressions of each other were spot on.
I cringed through entire episode but when [sp]they showed that it was all an act I thought it was great. Oh, and outtakes were fantastic[/sp]
It's worth mentioning that this episode was written by an Oscar winner, Jim Rash (Dean)
I thought this was probably the best episode of the season.
They managed to keep the Dean relevant to the plot, and make him funny by: ...you guessed it, making him act nothing like he usually does! This was basically actor showoff hour, and they sold the fuck out of it. It even involved the community college that the show is based around... a little. They still need to have at least 2 or 3 episodes revolving around some weird class and incorporating it well. The "No Patrick Swayze/I'm Flying Jack" episode was one of the best ever.
So, I stopped watching Community back at the beginning of the third season, because they changed everyone way too much and it didn't have the same charm it did during the first season.
I'm assuming it's not worth picking back up?
Yes, it is.
Honestly I'm glad that relationship is over with.

Didn't even serve much as a plot point that often anyway. Made for a good episode, though

Episode was great, the relationship as a whole felt like something they read on a tumblr fan-fic and shoehorned in though.
