You're right, using lethal ammunition will make for a much better game. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline] Can anyone recommend a solid stock for the Tippmann A5? It feels gimpy using a remote-line without one..
Dont buy a stock. No really, dont. And this is coming from the resident milsim player. Unless you enjoy buying 2 riser rails and a offset rail, you will be unable to sight your marker in with a stock + mask. Cheak rest + mask dont go well together. I am running the x7phenom and own an assault (SCAR) stock, and I never use it. If you MUST have some sort of rest for your marker, get one of those tank-cover buttstock things. They work well if you are going gas-on-gun. Or, get a 1 point sling and hook it around the A5s backcap. It is basically a loop of cloth - push the marker forward with the loop around your arm, it is a suprisingly good steady. And if you are desperate for a stock, your best bet is a dogleg stock. Also, which A5 do you have? The 2011 edition, or a older model?
Ah, the basic 2011 edition.. I now realize I posted the older model. Interesting words, I'll definitely pick up a sling.. I guess I'll have to practice a tighter form when firing & moving Silly of me to look for a stock when I'm still using the stock-barrel! Looking at a few no-nonsense barrels for some ranged combat. From what I gather, the flatline with all it's fancy backspin can cause complications when you're not aiming straight at a target. The stock barrel is like 8".. Is there a big performance difference between the 14"-16"-20" or will a 14 get the job done?
Flatline = awesome until you get a barrel break. Second you get a barrel break, game over, you wont hit anything. JJ Ceramic barrels are cheap and really good. Best barrel if you are looking to skint out. If you want the backspin stuff, get a Apex2. The 18" apex2 is a 16" barrel with the tip extending 2". The barrel without the tip is also EXTREMELY good quality. Also, whether you have an older model or a 2011 A5 means nothing. They both take the same parts (unsure about grips though) I just wanted to know :v:
Hmm, in here its about $40 for a case too.
It's $50+Entry here. $70 to go play, it hurts. Maybe I'll buy a Karni/2k4 Prostock and the new Empire pump that's coming out. I need to start going to play again before I buy anything new though.
40 bucks a case for paint over here, and about a 12 dollar admission fee and 10 bucks per tank to refill co2. I use a 20oz tank, so I only refill every third time I go paintball. The price isn't really that bad, but it's still enough so I can't paintball more than once every two weeks or so.
Dont buy a stock. No really, dont. And this is coming from the resident milsim player.
Completely out of curiosity (Please, PLEASE don't start a shitstorm), why did you choose milsim paintball over airsoft? I used to be a milsim/scenario paintballer as well, but switched over to airsoft as soon as I heard about airsoft due to the massive cost savings on ammo and (at least at the time, there are some nice looking milsim PB guns these days) cooler looking guns. Again, not saying one is better than the other. Edit: Also, I really miss armor and envy you guys for having a tank/armored vehicle crowd in your scenario games, no one seems to want to do anything like it in airsoft :c
The airsoft scene in Canada is shit. No fields, all guns must have clear recievers and barrels, so no good quality airsoft gets here. Plus, I prefer the CQC style of play that is forced in paintball due to the limited range of a marker. [editline]5th October 2011[/editline] Also, I want a automag
Oh, understandable, thought you were from the US based on your flag :v: All wargames are expensive as fuck in canada apparently
Oh, understandable, thought you were from the US based on your flag :v: All wargames are expensive as fuck in canada apparently
I use a proxy at places with filters (such as work, school) that is from the US. And all wargames, anywhere, are expensive. Even in the US, just not so much.

Paintball is getting up there with paint prices these days, but still, I spent less on paintball 6 year ago than I did on R/C aircraft :v:
http://tactical-mod.com/index.php/magazine-conversion-kit-for-tippmann-x7-phenom.html http://tactical-mod.com/index.php/parts-upgrades/magazine-conversion-kit/rap4-box-magazine-with-nautilus-drive.html SOON Only Canadian retailers that even have a page for em. My usual online dealer, paintballgear.ca said that they will try and get some in, but only list them when they got em in stock.
I'd get one for my loaner bt-4, but it costs as much as the gun :v:
That is why you get it for a good marker IE the phenom. I agree, it is pointless to put the kit on a 98 remake or a a5/x7. [editline]6th October 2011[/editline] Also, cant wait for the dual pane thermal lenses for the grillz to be released, should be coming out mid october. Only thing i dont like about the grillz is the standard, non thermal lenses.
I play paintball occasionally, like. Once every 2 weeks. I haven't got my own Marker, but I thinking like starting with an Azodin Kaos, I'll get the blitz if I can find it though (and if its within my budget). I'm more of a speedball guy. Also, how much does paintball games cost you guys? In here its about USD $15 for 200pellets, Marker Rental, Equipment Rental and the Admission. No time limit. USD $12 for members.
Everyone at my field got the blitz. I don't see any spectacular in it, just go for the Kaos.
I see alot of Egos, and Dm's in my field.
My field is mostly 98 remakes and cheap azodins for the semi-regulars. The regulars usually have a TM series gun, the phenom, a5/x7, invert mini is decently popular too.
Yeah, minis are what alot of people buy in my area as a step up from spyders and tippmanns. They're great guns
Yeah, minis are what alot of people buy in my area as a step up from spyders and tippmanns. They're great guns
When my buddy had his Mini working I tried it out for a round, and tried my Pilot. He hated the square grip on my pilot, and I hated how small the Mini was, made it hard to grip with both hands, I found myself holding it one-handed more often than not, and it was rather awkwardly weighted, so it kept tipping upwards due to the weight of the air tank. If I get a new gun any time soon, it's probably going to be something half-tacticlol.
If you liked everything about the mini BUT the size, get the Empire Axe. Same shit, but bigger and more expensive. Also, speedball has constantly been nagging at me to play it. Then I saw this: http://www.paintballgear.ca/product/Empire_Mini_Marker_-_Polish_Black|Copper.html I want it. The colors just work awesomely.
The color is awesome. Looks like Kee is dropping the invert line :( [editline]8th October 2011[/editline]
When my buddy had his Mini working I tried it out for a round, and tried my Pilot. I really want to get into paintball because there's tons of fields around here, but I don't want to get all the gear I've bought for Airsoft getting all painty.
I really want to get into paintball because there's tons of fields around here, but I don't want to get all the gear I've bought for Airsoft getting all painty.
The paint is water soluble and biodegradable. After a few hours, the paint "gels" sort of, and you can wipe it off. Just toss your gear in the washing machine once your done and you are good. [editline]8th October 2011[/editline] Imagine buying a thousand dollar marker, and first time you go in, getting hit out by a rental guy. The humiliation.
I got a Tippmen A5 for my first paintball gun. Woodsball was really fun to me. Think I might just find some more people who would play paintball. There's this field behind my house which is huge. Would work well for paintball.
Is the smart parts ion a good choice for a starter gun? Im only going to play recreationally at local fields, and I have around $400~ price range for a gun and gear.

I recommend this: http://www.ansgear.com/GoG_eXTCy_Paintball_Gun_w_Blackheart_Board_Blac_p/gogpaintballgunextcy.htm http://www.ansgear.com/ViewLoader_Vlocity_Paintball_Loader_Black_p/vldvelocityblack.htm http://www.ansgear.com/Cyclone_47_3000_PSI_Compressed_Air_Tank_p/cyclonetankhp473.htm About $340 total [editline]9th October 2011[/editline] The Extcy is pretty much an Ion, but with a few ups
Thanks Green, I think I'll look into that setup instead.

Milkandcooki, it's not actually "paint", it's a gelatine compound. It "gels" after about two hours of being exposed to air, and is easy to wash off and doesn't drip, so if you keep your stuff separated, or just wash it down every once in a while, it'd be fine.
Envy is more like a vibe, probably uses the same mold
Guess what got to me today? tacamo magfed kit + boxmag. Seriously, this things sticks out less than your average airball gun, and retains that t@ct1c00L look. This is the only rap4 product that is decently priced AND of decent quality. The receiver shells are heavier than the stock tippmann ones, but by GOD are they cool.
