Very nice.
Best western I've seen this year. Quick question: How much did this cost in total to make?
Best western I've seen this year. Quick question: How much did this cost in total to make?
Very little money went into this. The studio that Firstpunch owns is in a mostly-busted old building in a poorer part of the city. They've refinished about half the building into a wicked-awesome loft studio, but the parts they haven't gotten to yet are still all busted up and old. It's actually a super cool place, if you ignore all the broken shit, cobwebs, and dirt. We did the filming in the old parts of the building, and the costumes and props were all mostly supplied by a girl who just happened to have a curious amount of cowboy costumes laying around.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, though the "twist" was pretty much expected.
I am not going to lie. I expected better. I have a lot of gripes with the camera work, and editing. Congrats none the less for winning.
Oh boy I live in St. Louis! :buddy:
This is amazing for 48 hours; some crit is in order though: -Some dark shots were rather noisy -Sound level problems -Pretty bad voice recording, this is understandable though, as you probably weren't in posession of the equipment required to make it sound really good when recording in place and dubbing would've taken extra time -I didn't like the angle where the janitor blocks the doorway, it feels like the empty space on the left is completely unnecessary And that's pretty much all that I saw from watching it once; again, amazing work. [editline]21st June 2011[/editline] Also if you don't mind <
Couldn't have done it better myself, I was a bit bothered with the closed bottle that a guy was drinking from but looks great.
firstpunch eh
Damn. That was pretty good.
Congrats! I saw Saint Louis in the title and had to click it (STL native, here).
(we figured the winning piece would have gay themes and a crying clown--given our city's reputation for pretentious, beret-wearing posers among the art community)
So true. Fucking Cherokee street. Edit: Excellent film.

Most of the cast and crew only got a couple hours of sleep during that, and were working round the clock to write it, shoot everything, get all the props, set up the scenes, cut the footage, and compose the soundtrack. I can't tell you how impressed I am with what those wizards managed to pull together with such limited time and resources. I was just an extra who popped in for a few hours of shooting Saturday morning, and they'd already been at it all night.
Firstpunch have a site? Firstpunch have relations to Facepunch? [editline]21st June 2011[/editline] Cool, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3502653/ [editline]21st June 2011[/editline]
I'm the candid cowboy on the right. To the left is our swarthy "Mexican" from Pakistan. I spoke one line!
Woah dude.. you look.. mature. I don't know how to word it without knowing I won't offend you.
I like how you cowboys preserve the liquor by closing the bottle before drinking it
Such a powerful woman. :allears:
Pretty nice movie you have there, but I just can't keep my eyes open when looking at sweaty people
but I just can't keep my eyes open when looking at sweaty people
too shiny?
Pretty nice movie you have there, but I just can't keep my eyes open when looking at sweaty people
If it helps, it wasn't real sweat. The director soaked us with a spray bottle between each take. She wanted everybody to look all grimy and gross. You can't have a Western without a bunch of sweaty goons.
did you rewatch the end of The Good the Bad and the Ugly and go 'lol it looks like theyre having a 3 way staring contest' 'omg dude...'
That's probably pretty close to what happened, yeah.
well thats a pretty good excuse to have close up intense eyeshots
Great work.

Congratulations, a few years ago my uncle entered a 48 hour film into the Saint Louis 48-hour film festival. He didn't win, but here was his entry: http://fawlproductions.com/Retribution.html He's Jonathan McDonald (production designer).
I was guessing the boss blinked when he covered his eyes at 3:52.
that was fucking awesome. I thought the twist was that she was blind, but that wouldn't make any sense. That would have been awesome if it had been done in a month. Good job.
a really nice movie, I liked it :buddy:
I really enjoyed it. I've had a bit of an affinity to making things like this, but sadly never have the time or resources to do it successfully.
I kept blinking when they had the stare-down, her stare made me feel uncomfortable.
I thought the twist was that she was blind, from the glasses and all. I was wrong apparently.
