Shoot everyone you see.
Defect and become a badass outlaw, recruit people to your own private army and overthrow the government. That would be so cool.
Or really suicidal.
I'm glad I avoided my mandatory two-year service in the Russian military. I don't think I would suffer a larger punishment than leaving Canada for two years and being subject to this wasteful training when I could be doing greater and more purposeful things.
Doesn't sound to bad. You'll meet people who you will remember for the rest of your life, you'll get to experience things that most people wouldn't, and you'll learn skills that will help you for the rest of your life.

Education systems are moving more and more toward teaching children logic and reason and to question the world around them instead of just fact memorization but if they're going to turn 18 and get thrown into an organization that is designed to force you to learn the exact opposite it undoes it all. It baffles me that countries like Norway, Finland, and even Israel with such a good standard of living still adhere to something as archaic and societally damaging as conscription.
Fair enough. Still, infantry gotta do patrols and that kind of shit. Artillery just gotta sit back and blow stuff up. Not even like old artillery where you go deaf, rockets n shit yo.
Have you ever been near a rocket when it fires? It is goddamn LOUD.
Heard the IDF is hardcore as shit, not sure if it's true or not but best of luck to you, OP. Not ideal but it could be much worse I guess. And if their standard of living is good enough it can't be hurting anything that severely. I still don't really like it though.
Holy shit! [img_thumb]http://libertypundits.net/images/upload/IDF_Babe_2.jpg[/img_thumb] She is hot :O
Good luck. I myself will be conscripted in August, for between 6 months to a year. I cannot even begin to imagine 3 years of conscripted service.
How's the pay? Cause if they pay you a reasonable amount, that's like leaving school and being definatly given a job in which you get decent meals, put through a good fitness regieme and get paid for it all the time. Oh, and get to play with deadly weapons
They don't pay you for compulsory army service.
One cool thing I'd like to mention is that my birthday is on the 24th of March, and then I'll be 19, which means that there's a good chance my commander will be younger than me.
snap! :what::respek::what:
Have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
Good luck fine sir. I went through voluntary military training and horrifically failed due to my girlish lack of any form of bodily strength or muscle, But then again you aren't a wheezebag 20-year-old wretch. By the way. AVOID THE FOOD. MRE's are fucking HORRIBLE. [editline]10th March 2011[/editline] No offense to your respective countries but why do all the european and middle eastern militaries draft people when 90% of them do pretty much jack on a daily basis?
Have fun guarding the west bank from it's legal owners.
Have fun guarding the west bank from it's legal owners.
20% chance I'll be in a West Bank-located base.
I got drafted too, and it wasn't that bad. Even if it was tough/boring at times, I still kind of miss it now and again. Though in your case I would probably do everything to try and get out of it. I would never want to join an army that slaughters and oppresses civilians.
It baffles me that countries like Norway, Finland, and even Israel with such a good standard of living still adhere to something as archaic and societally damaging as conscription.
FDF isn't so bad, you just spend 6 months or a year jacking off, being bored and running around hallways naked and whatever....maybe sometimes shoot a gun at stuff.....hardly societally damaging and it's the only economically feasible way to sustain an army for such a small nation (that's what the propaganda says anyways). It's not bad and I don't hate my country for it, it may seem like something horrible to an outsider, but it's really not.
I cant join the army. Colourblind :(

I'm fine with that. I just remember hearing that in Norway even if you opt for civilian service you're still technically in the military and are required to do the training and occasional drills. Not sure if it was true, just what I heard.
Best of luck to you!
Well then military brother, I'll give you some advice: Right Place, Right Time, Right Uniform. Do these three things and you will never do wrong. Also show up 15 minutes prior to every formation. And make sure your uniform is presentable, no dirt, stains, or discolorations. Also make sure you have ID tags and Card at all times (if issued). It also helps to have a pen and paper on you at all times, many time I wish i had it to take down important notes, or even sign and date a piece of paper. It also show your leadership that you are squarded away.

The military simply sorts people based on their drive and how determined they are to succeed. Everyone has a chance to be in command, but only those who work for it are promoted. Military service teaches people to work hard and excel so that they can be in control.
Well Finland has a civilian service option instead, right?
Yup. Civil service kind of sucks thought. In the army you can "choose" how long you wish to serve, in civil service it's always a year, no matter what job you end up in. It's basically a community service sentence. Better than being sent to jail like it was when my parents were young thought. In civil service you are a civilian thought, you can go home after work and whatnot.
Dear OP I will be in Haifa for 18 months come september. Maybe we could chill sometime. Also, I remember you from my facepunch erepublik thread, I am Abdul remember
Fuck israel! (and yeah i live in israel. and im in the IDF . fucked up army)
In all seriousness, if you see this man you're fucked [img_thumb]http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/1918/dancingrocketman.jpg[/img_thumb]
Oh my Jesus: Dancing rocket man! I remember you :v:
Israel :colbert: They are the people who put their dick in the hornets nest and caused all this terrorism shit to happen. People got killed at Medvedev airport nearly within walking distance of my apartment. And then they wonder why the rest of the middle east has hated them since '48. ED's article expresses my views on Israel perfectly. (Although the rest of the Middle East is just as bad, thinking the Holocaust is a myth, but Israel needs to quit using the holocaust as a "get away with EVERYTHING" card.)
