Do they pay tuition or anything? Are there actual benefits after serving the required term?
What do you mean? I know that the army pays everyone, 350 NIS a month if you're a jobnik (some slacker in an office) or 750 a month if you're a fighter. Then after you leave the army they'll also pay some of your university fees, fighters again getting payed more. And everyone can ask to stay in the army for another year, two, or more and become an officer, this takes a lot of hard work and not everyone can finish all the tests and stuff, but if you do, you get a regular salary, and they'll also help you get a degree depending on what you do exactly, for example if you're some kind of a physical instructor, they help you get a degree in that.

Artillery won't be that bad compared to other things. Just if you're around artillery (which I would expect :v:) that you keep ear plugs on hand.

Artillery vehicles obviously make more noise but for now we won't be firing any, not for the next 2 months.
my friend is i the IDF, it seems badass
I would say hardly. People taking the "civilian option" are sometimes treated as hippies though. Generally the stereotype is that if you are a "real man" you will go to the army.
Well that's expected, Scandinavians are massively cliquey
so you can dodge the draft for religious reasons?
Do you go to war or just stationed in a base.
so you can dodge the draft for religious reasons?
only if you are extremely orthodox, but i think you're then required to be studying the Torah (but you would be anyway) they have religious units in the IDF [editline]27th March 2011[/editline]
Do you go to war or just stationed in a base.
depends if they're ordered too or not.
they'll also pay some of your university fees
Yeah that's what I meant. One of my cousins over there serves on a Patriot crew, it doesn't seem so bad. Also wow that pay is really bad.
