So many things should have happened by now, but some characters are just too different in the TV series.
Comic spoilers below.
[sp]Tyreese is supposed to be with them by now. In the comics, he was with Rick instead of Shane when Carl got shot by Otis. Shane is supposed to be dead by now. Otis is skinny and young in the comics, and resembles Walter Kovacs. I feel like he was made fat just for comedic relief. Also Carol is too unattractive and whiny and old. Eventually Tyreese has to get with that. Also Maggie and Andrea are too goddamn old. Andrea is old, yet still too young for Dale, I guess. But Maggie is nineteen. She even says so in the book. She's too... adult in the series so far. Not enough teen in her.[/sp]

God forbid if it hasn't been established already that the TV series is kind of a different thing
I like TV Shane, he's not an asshole.

I don't know, attempting to rape somebody is kinda assholish.

He obviously knows he fucked up and he's trying to fix shit now, have to give him that at least.

I don't know, [sp]abandoning everybody without saying a word to them[/sp] could be considered a bit of a dick move, too.
I support the ''Shane is a dick'' argument. I mean the guy got with his best friend's wife pretty much right after he thought he was dead, then when Rick came back Shane started getting all rowdy over it, then he tried to rape Rick's wife (forgot her name) and now he's talking about just leaving them all?
He's a twat.
They're setting up [sp] his death. Big time. He'll probably get bitten this next episode, or he'll do something fucked up to Lori again and Carl shoots him (to appease the comic fans). They'll probably do it in a way that makes you feel bad for him, and then when Rick goes back to kill Zombie Shane, you'll cry. Because it'll be touching. In the comic, it was more of a fist bump to a fictional character for finally killing the asshole [/sp]
Overall, I like the changes from the comic to TV so far. Makes it entertaining to watch. Except Andrea. I hope they kill her.
ah yes rick that's it. each of the characters has about as much depth as a cardboard cut out. if you asked me about their personality, i'd draw a blank
I'm not sure whether it's supposed to be a character based show or an action/thriller based show, it seems to be somewhere in between not completely succeeding at either
Saying that I still enjoy it and the acting is decent enough to not be cringe worthy. There's also just enough intense moments to keep me interested, though it doesn't hold a candle to boardwalk empire at the moment
She sounds like some mingebag in an RP server.
"HURR DURR I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT A GUN, I NEED A GUN, WHINE WHINE WHINE"
That's ridiculous. Within the show, it's supposed to be reality for these characters. She's seen basically the entire population of her state die or become zombies; of course she feels like she needs a gun to survive.
In an RP server, you know it's not reality.

This x 1 million.
Also, from the very first scene in the show, you could tell straight off the bat that he was a misogynistic asshole.
This show is amazing. I just saw my first episode today.
This show had better start getting morally ambiguous soon. That's what was great about the comics. Yeah, we see how fucked up the zombies could get towards humans, but as the comics progressed it became more about how fucked up humans could be towards each other.

Unless they start showing the decline in Rick any time soon this show is going to get shit real quick.

I agree with you on the nature of his character overall, but I think even so his character in the show is still better than the Shane in the comics.
Oh man, I can't believe that only like 5% of the people who watch this have read even one of the comics.

They shit on the TV series, by the way.
Outstanding Character Development.
Sunday could not come any fucking slower, I just finished watching the second episode.
CLIFFHANGER MODE ACTIVATED
I have a feeling [sp]Otis will sacrifice himself to save Shane. Sort of like a redemption for shooting Carl.[/sp]
Edit:
Sorry, Shane is his name, not Rick :v: Fixed now.
1 week is way to long to wait for a new episode...

noooooooooooooo
[sp]That can't happen. If anything, I hope that Otis and Shane are aided in escaping the high school by Tyreese. Tyreese needs to show up, Shane needs to die, and Otis needs to live. For now. And Carl needs a damn gun.[/sp]
I still find it funny how the TWD team made a little rule book and they can't even follow it.

One of my favorite TV shows! Along with the comics. I love it.
At first I was a little upset they weren't following the comics completely. But now I'm glad they aren't. Makes things more suspenseful.

What exactly didn't they follow? I can't remember any instances of them breaking any of those rules. except perhaps #3, but I suppose that's for pretty obvious reasons.
1, 3, 4, 6, and 7.
1, 3, 4, 6, and 7.
Fascinating
1, 3, 4, 6, and 7.
None of those rules have been broken by this point in the series. Try citing specific scenes where you think they occur.
You must be blind if you haven't seen the zombies running or sprinting towards the survivors during these past couple of episodes.
And you have Andrea stabbing zombies in the face and getting blood and crap all over her own face and she's still walking and talking, geez, she's lucky that none of it made it in her mouth or eyes.
Do I really need to bring up the highway sequence again? The zombies are supposed to have an extremely strong sense of smell.
The zombies are all groaning like crazy as though they're actually communicating with each other which is preposterous as they're really only supposed to all move together when food is sighted... otherwise they shouldn't really be having these massive congregations and staying in church and the like.
Call it nitpicking if you want but I feel that if the rules were followed better then the show as a whole would be far more intense.

1. You don't know how long each zombie has been dead. They said the speed is determined by length of death.
2. Blood doesn't turn anyone into a zombie. A bite wont turn you into a zombie. Everyone is infected, you just turn when you die.
3. They have a good sense of smell, but they were just walking. If they see you they can tell that you smell different, if they don't see you, then they probably don't know you're there at all.
4. The zombies in the church were a little weird, sitting like they were in service. But besides that there was nothing unusual. Zombies moan, not to communicate, they're most likely in unimaginable pain.
You must be blind if you haven't seen the zombies running or sprinting towards the survivors during these past couple of episodes.
More like fast lurching, not exactly sprinting.
And you have Andrea stabbing zombies in the face and getting blood and crap all over her own face and she's still walking and talking, geez, she's lucky that none of it made it in her mouth or eyes.
Doesn't contradict anything, and we don't know if ingesting the blood actually causes infection.
Do I really need to bring up the highway sequence again? The zombies are supposed to have an extremely strong sense of smell.
They're not bloodhounds, they don't hunt by smell. If they see someone in front of them and it smells like delicious human buttocks, sure they'll grab a bite. But if there's no sound or line of sight then they don't go by smell. Besides, they were surrounded by other stinking corpses.
The zombies are all groaning like crazy as though they're actually communicating with each other which is preposterous as they're really only supposed to all move together when food is sighted... otherwise they shouldn't really be having these massive congregations and staying in church and the like.
"Feeding groans" is a common zombie trope, as other zombies follow the sound. Zombies also tend to groan on random.
The church thing was kinda silly, I don't really see how three people who were bitten could have died and reanimated at the exact same time, as none of them seemed to have grabbed a bite of each other. There's no other reason they could have been sitting down, though.
1. You don't know how long each zombie has been dead. They said the speed is determined by length of death.
About a month or a bit less, I'd presume. Since that's apparently when the hospital Otis talked about went down in flames.

They 100% broke number 3.
When they found the zombie in the woods, he tried to attack them, even after he had a large meal recently.
They 100% broke number 3.

Wasn't the "large meal" a rabbit or something? I think large meal would refer to the horse eaten in the pilot.

Yeah, no. No zombie in this show so far has had a "huge meal" except for the herd that ate the horse.
