No, it's not. All the people on the show who have become a zombie have done so after they've been bitten/eaten. well, so far no one has died of non-zombie causes. in the comics, [sp]shane is killed after carl tries to defend rick, but when rick later returns to the campsite, he knows that shane is now a zombie because the infection was already inside them, it was just a matter of dying by any means necessary (unless the brain is destroyed) and then he would come back.[/sp]

Since it's been established in plenty of other zombie fiction, it's hardly a significant leap.
The virus doesn't need to reproduce, it's airborne.
Do we know this? If that were true wouldn't the current survivors have to be immune? Plus regardless, even if it is airborne it would still reproduce, I don't really see what that has to do with it. What I think you mean is that it wouldn't have to cause the zombies to want to eat to be able to reproduce, but it DOES do that, and so far I haven't seen (or don't recall) any evidence of the virus being airborne. Or for that matter any evidence that zombies eat because they need to, which is what I think you're probably getting at.
I'll just leave that there.
Issue 90 was good, didn't expect the whole you know what bit to happen.
Does anyone have a link to the scene where they put meat on themselves and shamble through the streets to fool the zombies?

It is airborne, it just doesn't affect you until you die.

Haven't they made a big deal about being bitten at some point, though?
Yeah, that's right, the scientist's wife was bitten, and she volunteered to be examined while she changed.

Bites kill you, so yes you don't want to get bit. Yes, bites will turn you into a zombie, the same way being stabbed, shot, run over, or having a heart attack will turn you into a zombie.

Getting bitten just speeds up the process by killing you quicker. But the virus is in you no matter what, and when you die you turn into one.
someone get me a gif of [sp]carl right before he goes into that seizure lol[/sp]
I wonder how many anal gun nerds sent AMC an angry email correcting them for Daryl's use of the term clip instead of magazine when he takes it from Andrea.
Getting bitten just speeds up the process by killing you quicker. But the virus is in you no matter what, and when you die you turn into one.
Well if the virus is already inside of them what does the bite do that kills them?

I don't know/remember but I want to guess the virus gets directly into the bloodstream. Probably something like that.

[sp]Otis died?[/sp] Nooooooooooo
Dude what?
Why?
Wow, holy crap. [sp]Otis :([/sp]
Wow, they pulled a Breaking Bad style episode there, that was kinda fucked up
[sp]Shane is an asshole[/sp]
What the FUCK man! That's just a dick move. Shows he cares about Carl, I guess. But he could've done it a different way.
So [sp]Shane killed Otis[/sp]
I'm guessing this won't end well.
Well if they wanted everyone to hate him, they've done that. I'm fucking pissed.
Holy shit.
I will never look at [sp]Shane[/sp] the same way again. [sp]So glad they kept him alive, they're doing fantastic things with the character now.[/sp]
Well they were near the truck they probably could of escaped but then again they could of lead the hoard to the farm. Either way i never expected that.
I think the show just gave itself a lot of redemption from that part. The best parts in the comics were with the characters and not the zombies.
I finally remember why Maggie looked so familiar. She played Vivian Volkoff in Chuck.
You know what, I shouldn't say that [sp]about Shane. Otis put Carl and thus Shane and himself in that situation in the first place, and he's a giant slow lard ass so.. Shane did what he had to do for Carl[/sp]

[sp]He could've shot him in the head instead of the leg if he was gonna do that.[/sp]

Live humans are much more appealing than dead ones.
Live humans are much more appealing than dead ones.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
Hm, there might be hope for this show yet if they have the balls to pull shit like this.
Hopefully they do it more often, I liked that about the comics... not knowing if I should really get attached to characters or not because they could very well die at any moment.
The dialogue on the show still needs a lot of work though, none of their conversations sound natural.

If the body is still warm I'm sure it'll be eaten. But a live one makes noise and a distraction.

It's sad because [sp]I liked TV Otis better than comic Otis.[/sp]

[sp]I wonder if they'd go so far as to have scenes like the child killer decapitating those two kids[/sp]
[sp]He could've shot him in the head instead of the leg if he was gonna do that.[/sp]
Exactly what I thought. As screwed up as it sounds, [sp] shooting him directly in the face would have 1. prevented him from any pain of being devoured, 2. spared him the final feeling of betrayal before he died (if he shot him quick enough) and 3. probably wouldn't have effected his "eatability" to the zombies [/sp]
