This season is staying pretty close to the comics, I'll concede that, but I'm a little divided on the character portrayals. Rick is pretty spot on, he was always a conflicted, reluctant hero type, and I'd like to think Lori and Carl are as well. Glenn, I think, is the best out of the entire bunch, he's exactly how I imagined him in the comics. But Dale and Andrea are frustrating me. Andrea was never really this whiny and suicidal, she was always fairly self dependent and well composed, even if she had the occasional breakdown. Dale, I can't really explain why, but I feel like something's off with his portrayal in the show. It's not the acting, it's the writing.
I don't think the question of what Jenner told Rick has been answered nor has the location of Merle been resolved. Also I think that this season is going great, of course I don't watch for just the mindless zombie killing as most people probably expected the show to be, I'm here for the drama and the back stories and the zombie's. The comic portrayed this wonderful story of Drama, Zombies, Loss, and Revenge and I think the show is doing pretty well with this aspect also, but of course these are my opinions and not the majorities. Now for the characters, The Grimes family is pretty much on par with what I expected (I wish the kid actors got some more lines, they seem to be a bit behind) Glenn is well on par with his comic self. Andrea is suicidal and a bit angering to me at times but I feel that her character will get an attitude adjustment. Carol in the comic was pretty bitch-like and this Carol seems to be more polite and caring. Now Shane, he was one of my favorites from the comic just because he seemed like a smart person, I think he is still one of my overall favorites in the show and he seems to not be thinking like his comic self (His way of thinking in the comic got him killed) but of course Shane does need to die. The new characters, T-Dog, Daryl, and Merle are just awesome, I personally like these characters and wish they would appear in the comic. Now the farm folk (Hershel, Maggie, Otis) are very well portrayed here, I only wish Otis didn't get killed off so early.
comic spoiler [sp]why do I have the feeling that the tv series will have less amputational action as the comics Atleast I doubt that it won't include Rick's hand getting cut off.[/sp]
Kirkham regrets doing it; it won't happen in the series.
Merle has a high chance of being the show's Big G (comic spoiler) [sp]And removing Rick's hand as revenge[/sp]. Jenner (that was his name, right?) probably told Rick the thing that gets "revealed" during (comic spoiler again) [sp]during the Prison arc, "We are the walking dead!"[/sp]. There's a S2 episode name that hints at this, actually.
Merle has a high chance of being the show's Big G (comic spoiler)
Probably not THE Governor from the comics, but I'd guess a Governor-type antagonist. [editline]15th November 2011[/editline] Nevermind, Norman Reedus, the guy that plays Daryl, says that Merle will not be the Governor.
If they find the little girl, they should put her in a cage for the rest of the series.
spoiler about [sp]Shane dieing[/sp]
whoa ever heard of spoiler tags
They already confirmed he wont be dieing, at least this soon anyway.
Did anyone else see the commercial for the next episode? The gun sound they used when Andrea was firing her pistol was just awful.
I started watching this the other day and I'm on episode 6 of the first season and already I'm super attached to some characters. Mainly Dale and Rick. This is a fucking great show. Can't believe it took me this long to actually sit down and watch it. [editline]15th November 2011[/editline] Oh, so that was the whole season. Didn't realize. [editline]15th November 2011[/editline] Well, now I'm sad, I can't find anywhere to watch the new episodes.

I hope in the next episode it starts to pick the speed up a bit kinda like the comics.
I don't really get the the appeal of Dale tbh, he's pretty one-dimensional. I can sum him up in three words: nice old guy. Not very interesting or groundbreaking.
I just like him because he seems to be the only character who doesn't endanger other people, and he has his head on straight most of the time it seems.
The voice of reason.
I just like him because he seems to be the only character who doesn't endanger other people, and he has his head on straight most of the time it seems.
I never really looked at him that way, I've always looked at him as "the white bearded guy who keeps riling up the annoying bitch".
Comic spoilers. [sp]I really hope they show Ricks mental issues start to develop sometime into the show, I loved seeing him at the start as a laid back protector of the poeple, now he'll kill anyone who threatens the group.[/sp]
Would be so sweet if they found Sophia and it turned out that Tyreese and his family had taken her in and that's how they were introduced. Need Tyreese.
I have a feeling they'll throw in a "twist" and Sophia will be a zombie [sp]in the barn[/sp].

so basically Glenn [sp]had sex with the daughter of the host who allowed them to stay at the farm, is the only one that knows Lori is pregnant and is the first to find out about the barn[/sp] poor Glenn
I just like him because he seems to be the only character who doesn't endanger other people, and he has his head on straight most of the time it seems.
That sounds more like Daryl. The old guy is a selfish cunt most of the time.
as well as blind
as well as old
[sp]Knew straight away that there were zombies in the shed as soon as she read the note.[/sp] Wish the show was a little bit more faster paced, but I guess it's just the way the walking dead is.
I will not be satisfied until they rip Andrea in half.
Just wondering, but do we have to use spoiler tags on an episode that has already aired? Comic Spoiler [sp] I doubt they will get to the prison this season. In the comics they hit the snowy dead town before the farm. So maybe the town will be next, that or they skipped it all together[/sp]
I will not be satisfied until they rip Andrea in half.
I can't stand her character.
