shane and mrs.man-hand had the most ugly faces ever in the car scene
i swear to god she looked like Otis his wife when she touched his [sp]pp[/sp]
Why? He needed a wake up call. Totally irrational. Rick isn't much better. Shane is the only one with his head on his shoulders.
"Things aren't the way they used to be."
Rick, Shane and Herschel are all nuts.
Herschel is clinging onto the world before, as is Rick (at least he took off that fucking hat, and he's changing with shooting Sophia), and Shane is just nuts and using the zombie apocalypse as an excuse to go batshit insane.

Really that should be performing horrific experiments on the barn walkers.
Basically imagine what you would do in Dwarf Fortress, and then do it.
Well, I'm glad that spoiler turned out to be right. Now I know how the season will end too!
Telll ussss
I definitely wouldn't like to be Rick, deal with all this stuff that's happening
He might not be the best leader ever, but I'd rather have him than Shane.
I can't believe you guys are discussing if Shane is insane or not, of course he's batshit crazy. He's a "man of action", but he's pretty dumb

This better be true. Where do you get your spoilers from?

Wanting to abandon the search for Sophia after having aimlessly been searching for her for several days is reasonable, defying their host by opening up a barn full of zombies and releasing them on your group just to prove his point that they're dangerous is fucking careless and insane. He really cares too much about "the greater good" rather than the individuals in his group.
Rick is naive and a bit reckless, but at least he does his very best to keep every member of the group alive.
I wonder when they're getting to [sp]the prison or those houses full of zombies they find in the comic[/sp]

God, I hope not.
[sp]Carl needs to be the one to shoot Shane, it's an integral part of his character.[/sp]

Yeah I know, I know. But the dude was legit about the whole barn thing. Got the last two episodes correct completely. I'm still not absolutely convinced on the last spoiler as there hasn't been much details yet, but there'll probably be more by January.
I don't want Shane to die
Fuck Shane and his big nose.
That's complete bollocks. Shane is bat shit crazy, he endangered everyone when he opened the barn. And just because the world ended doesn't mean you have to give up your humanity. Hershel had different beliefs than Shane and Rick, and expected them to respect them while staying on his property. Shane was completely wrong in doing that, Rick and Hershel were right.
There were like 4 or 5 people with guns that knew it was coming. Would it have been better if the zombies somehow broke out when nobody was prepared? It's senseless to keep them in there. Herschel needs to wake up and realize what's going on around him.
[editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
you need people like Rick who can help them remember why they focus on peace and protecting people.
If it ends up anything like the comics, Rick will do things that are a lot worse than what Shane did last ep.
Just watched the last episode today [sp]HOLY SHIT HOW DIDN'T I EXPECT SOPHIA TO BE IN THE BARN.[/sp]
[sp]The fact that Herschel knew that Sophia was in the barn the entire time makes me completely rethink who the bad guys are.[/sp]
[sp]The fact that Herschel knew that Sophia was in the barn the entire time makes me completely rethink who the bad guys are.[/sp]
didn't someone mention already that he might have done it because he knew what the group thinks of walkers?
[editline]1st December 2011[/editline]
oh and someone also said that he didn't even know it
Spoiler pertaining too Hershel and the barn
[sp]Hershel didn't know about sophia being in the barn, Otis was the one who wrangled walkers in. And they didn't talk about Sophia being missing till after Otis died.[/sp]
Jesus people, use spoiler tags!

He didn't.

Answer me this: [sp]Herschel knows these people are looking for a lost girl, a girl who may now be a zombie. Herschel knows there is an assortment of zombies in the barn. Herschel knows the only person who can say for sure who is in the barn(Otis) is dead. How the hell does Herschel not think to go check in the frickin' barn to make sure the girl isn't in there?
My answer? Herschel checked the barn, or had one of his people check, and knew the girl was in there. Alternative, that is just as bad- Herschel elected NOT to check, since he knew he wouldn't tell them anyways, since he was protecting the barn zombies.[/sp]
^ Eh, that's a bit of a stretch. Not sure how many days in total Otis was dead, but you're looking at it knowing more than the characters too. Herschel knows they're missing a girl, yes, but for him to immediately jump to "I bet she's in the barn!" isn't very likely. Rick's group was miles away when Sophia got lost and Herschel had probably heard that Daryl had been making headway on tracking her. Not really all that far-fetched to assume he just didn't make the connection that she could be in the barn, especially since he never dealt with any of the zombies.
"Oh my god a little girl might be a walker." Yeah, so could 6 million other people, a good 20-30 of which are in the barn.
Furthermore what could Herschel possibly gain from keeping that information to himself? This is a man who believes his dead wife and son are just "sick" and can be cured. He's blissfully unaware and optimistic, his reaction if he knew would be to tell the group because he'd believe she wasn't dead and could and would be cured eventually.
He wouldn't randomly just decide to be sinister and continue letting Rick's group go out and risk their lives trying to find her, where is anybody getting the idea that the guy who saved Carl's life would be bloodthirsty?
It makes sense to me that someone who has been collecting something would think "I wonder if I have that one?" if someone else says "I lost one of those things around here."
You guys don't think Herschel and ALL of Herschel's people would not wonder what the hell is in the barn after Otis died and they found out a girl went missing nearby AT THE SAME TIME?
didn't the ~nerde overlord~ writer who named his son Peter Parker say that Herschel didn't know?

bullshit. they feed the zombies how can they not know
bullshit. they feed the zombies how can they not know
Well the barn is pretty dark and it might be a bit hard to keep track of all the zombies moving in there. The idea that they might not know that Otis brought her there is also not too far fetched in my opinion, he was probably pretty used to the whole capturing of zombies and might have done it alone.

yeah, it's not like they went in and sat down and had a meal
it was just open throw and leave
perhaps but if I was hershel I would of been keeping a much closer eye on everyone in the barn
I also generally don't feel that Hershel is the bad guy in any way. He was never given any hard proof that there would never be a cure, he was probably aware of how incredibly unlikely it is that they would ever find one, but no matter if how unlikely he is keeping them inside the barn simply because if they would ever find a cure then he would be able to save them.
Now suddenly a large group of strangers come into his farm and wants his help. This might have been alright if it weren't for the fact that these people are basically shooting all walkers on sight, they require the help of him and his group and end up getting Otis killed, and they're running around in the woods risking their own lives and plausibly attracting the attention of walkers to the farm. He's kind enough to let them stay to recover, but I understand well why he would prefer them to move on.
