I'm guessing Maggie didn't count to walkers in the barn because she couldn't bear to see them. I mean if she was still under the impression that they were just sick people it would have been pretty disturbing to see them fighting over a chicken to eat and acting in such a way.
For people talking about Shane giving Carl something.
[sp]I looked closely, and it appears that Carl never actually got the gun, they all ran towards Rick and Herschel when the group spotted them. It appeared to still be on the ground, with no one picking it up. So all the theory about Shane regretting giving Carl that gun appears to not be plausible for now.[/sp]

It was just a weird kind of reference to try and work in there. Glen is talking about getting lowered into a well, where there is a zombie and it makes him think of...a videogame? Whatever.

I was more concerned about how he talked about remembering how dangerous walkers were. WHAT?!?!? He's living in the zombie apocalypse, he was there when their camp was overrun, when they're almost swarmed on the highway, and he forgot? What does he think about all day? How to squeeze more Portal references in the conversation with Maggie cuz chicks dig Portal?

I'm willing to excuse the awkward reference because of the words he said right before the reference "It felt like I was doing it for fun, it felt like I was playing Portal", which to me implies that he only mentioned Portal as a game he felt was fun to play and not because it was anything like a zombie shooter.

What I meant was I would've liked it if the zombies broke out so everyone was unprepared, not Shane being a cock and letting them out.

If they had developed Sophia's character a bit more, that scene would've been much more powerful and emotional because the audience would've actually cared about the girl. But still a great scene, though.

Personally, I think the emotional impact they were going for comes from how the group reacts, not from what the fate of the girl turned out to be. In other words, the audience is supposed to care about Carol/Daryl/Carl/etc.
I thought it was interesting in that video that of all the cast and crew that talked about that scene, only the actress playing Lori was concerned about how the girl feels about losing her job. Everyone else is on about the technical aspects of the scene, the emotional impact on the characters, and so on, but she's saying 'it's not easy to leave your first job'. Very practical of her.
