oh my, i've been purchasing 2 books a week since christmas holidays end, and i must say, these comics are awesome
Here's what I don't understand: Okay, they cut the budget. But how frickin' expensive is it to have your characters menaced by a handful of zombies really? People do decent looking zombie makeup at home for Halloween. On a show like Terra Nova, where the special effects need to be realistic looking dinosaurs, I can see how that would be so expensive to do that they have to severely limit the amount of dinosaurs. But zombies? Come on, that's gotta be the cheapest makeup and costume costs you could have.
It's not just the makeup, but extras cost a lot of money too. At least in Georgia the studios pay around $8.25 per hour to extras, and $8.75 after 8 hours+ of work. They also do car and gas bumps; so if they use your car on set/in the film they pay for it, and if you have to drive a certain amount of miles to get to the shooting location they also will reimburse you for gas consumption. Extras are surprisingly well paid for their work. The only reason I know this is because my ex-girlfriend does extra work on the side; so far she's been in the new Footloose and a new Dolly Parton/Queen Latifah movie "Joyful Noise." She spent days shooting for these movies too, and in one weeks she made around $270 after taxes. You can do the math yourself on how expensive it can get. Here's an example though: Say the studio needs 20 extras for a scene, each gets paid $8.25 per hour for 8 hours work (I'll leave it at 8 hours, but most of the time it does stretch into 10-14 hours a day) That right there is $66 per extra, or $1320 for the lot of them. Now, mind you a good portion of time will be spent in makeup and getting costumes sorted out. So in many cases like this where heavy makeup and costume design is used these shoots can spread out over a period of a few days just for one scene. That's why it's so expensive to have these huge scenes of zombie massacring on the budget Frank has been given.

No, the reason we don't see good homemade movies of ANY type is because of something called a 'script'. That's where professionals have the advantage, since they know how to write one. And I'm not talking about huge swarms all the time. I'm talking four or five max, per episode, instead of the one we're lucky to get now. Even three or four zombies, if used correctly, can create suspense by putting a character in danger. For example, ONE zombie terrorized Andrea in the RV, that was a very efficient use of budget. Not all of them need elaborate makeup too, look at the original Dawn of the Dead, facepaint and tattered clothes is sometimes all you need. Add in one or two premade scar appliances and you're done.
I was okay with the first season because I liked the six episode format, meaning no filler. Second season seems less exciting and has more useless content.
Since this is the only zombie tv show i know of, this show is gonna get good ratings for a long time because of zombie craze. Honestly, there's about 70%-80% of all people in my little town that want a zombie apocalypse to occur, and when i tell them how fucking dumb it would be for you to want this and that most likely, everyone you know would die, they decide to counter with "Nuh-uh, i'd protect them." bull-fucking-shit, fatass, you couldn't run to them even if you wanted to, let alone carry food, supplies, weapons ammo and potentially, another person.
One of the best series i have seen. 10/10
I'm sure that they only use a handful of extras and add the rest in using special effects afterwards anyway, recall seeing it in a 'making-of' video.
just purchased all the figures, i would reccomend Rick and the White zombie
So when is this coming back onto our air waves?
Like, next month.

Season 3 will have 16 episodes http://blogs.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/2012/01/tca-season-3-episode-announcement.php
Oh goodie, that means they'll cut the budget even more because that's how quality programming is made.
Up to issue 57 of the comics. They're pretty damn awesome. But I think the show is going to take an extremely different approach. [sp]Most of all, because everyone basically gets killed. And it's a lot easier just to keep the same characters, rather than hiring new actors[/sp]
I bought the compendium along time ago kinda waiting to spend my money on the second one. At first I didn't like the different takes they did but I appreciate it more now. If i wanted the comic book I would read it not watch it. Great show can't wait for next season.
Buying the season box for sure.

Also Romero didn't like how blue to zombies turned out to be. Either way I dont mind.
What pisses my off about the TV series is there is a half friggin year / two month hiatus.
What pisses my off about the TV series is there is a half friggin year / two month hiatus.
It's like that with all American TV.
It's like that with all American TV.
I thought it was specifically for this show because of ratings or something? I think someone made a post about it earlier.
I thought it was specifically for this show because of ratings or something? I think someone made a post about it earlier.
That's the reasoning behind it, but all American TV shows do it.
I thought it was specifically for this show because of ratings or something? I think someone made a post about it earlier.
It also depends on the time of the year. Take South Park, for example. New episodes begin in March and last to about May, the second half of the season picks up in October.
Same with How I Met Your Mother. That and The Walking Dead are the two shows I watch online, and they are both taking a few months break.
Governor news: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JakeLester/news/?a=53607
I'd love to see Tom Savini in the role.
I've always thought of Savini as him, to be honest.
I wonder if Michonne is also going to be a new character in the series, or if they'll write her out.
I wonder if Michonne is also going to be a new character in the series, or if they'll write her out.
Heard she was suppose to come maybe end of this season or sometime during 3rd season.
