It was pretty good.
The part that bothered me is when he's in the tank, the tank with an OPEN hatch, he doesn't check the dead body to see if it's a zombie. In fact, what he does is kick back right next to the frickin' thing! That was a pure idiot move.
If you just escaped a horde of zombies, I'm pretty sure you would stop to catch your breath too.
Hatch was probably open. [sp] He got in through the bottom escape hatch, which was wide open. And there was a zombie soldier inside which means that the zombies got in, or he was infected and then they buttoned up the tank[/sp]
[sp]Actually in the comics the virus is in the air or something and no-matter you die, you will turn after death whether you were bitten or not[/sp]
Just got back from watching the first episode with a few friends. Laughed a bit when [sp]the teenager contacted the main character in the tank. "Hey dumb ass, comfy?"[/sp] Two questions though. Throughout the whole time I never picked up the main characters name? The second being, are all episodes going to be 1hr 30min?

it feels weird watching a show that's practically exactly like it's source material
The second being, are all episodes going to be 1hr 30min?
I doubt it, the first episode was only 90 minutes because it was a premier.
Nope, all episodes are roughly an hour. Commercials extend it to 90 minutes.
Two questions though. Throughout the whole time I never picked up the main characters name?
Really? It's Rick, they kinda shout it when he gets shot.
If you just escaped a horde of zombies, I'm pretty sure you would stop to catch your breath too.
If I find myself in a world where the dead come back to life and attack the living, I ain't sitting next to a dead guy without checking to see if he's dead dead, or alive dead. ESPECIALLY if I just escaped a pack of zombies, since the whole "dead people are after me" thing would be fresh in my mind. The only reason that sticks out to me is because the show is so well done, well written, that it felt awkward. And in a way the show admits it, because the other guy calls him a dumbass. Why do you think he did that? Because that whole sequence of events was not a good example of smart thinking by Rick, that's why.
i wanted the horse to be like his life long companion, but i commend them for staying true to the book.
I almost felt attached to the horse, because he looked a lot like the one I had in RDR.
Just finished watching it (GMT -3 over here), I thought it was "ok" so far, I need to see more [editline]1st November 2010[/editline] Cool! Now "28 Weeks Later" is on :D
Did the beginning scenes with the hospital make anything think of 28 Days Later? And the horse...:frown:
I loved it. Though I'm reading some reviews on IMDb and some of the worse ones aren't even reasonable. Some are even complaining that the zombies looked bad. Come on.
I have a question. On the part where [sp]He is walking through the hospital and he looks through that window and the chick is missing all her skin and muscle, was that the zombies or the flu?[/sp]
[tab]off-topic[/tab] Watching "28 Weeks Later" now... That beginning gets me every time... Poor Robert Carlyle :(
Tanks don't have escape hatches on the bottom like that and they're not that roomy. The Abrams doesn't even have air conditioning and the tank in The Walking Dead was big enough to STAND in. Abrams are barely big enough to sit in without having something stab you in the side or head. They took out the entire engine of the tank so they could fit a camera inside it and give it a nice angle I guess. Bothered the shit out of me though. It also bothered me that on the scene with the Highway there was nothing in the inbound lane. In a disaster like that, no doubt they'd start using the inbound lane to try and leave the city, they did it in Katrina. Even if they didn't it'd be littered with debris, bodies, wrecks or abandoned cars pushed off the outbound lane regardless. The scenes look like really badly constructed sets. Zombies were really, really boring and the gore was just not believable.

Didn't say I wouldn't. I really, really like the concept and I love how that guy that played Hawkings from Jericho is in it, he's a great actor. I just get a stick up my ass whenever see things like that tank. I watched the scene on youtube, he lays back against the vents for the engine. They literally took the engine out of the tank to make that giant space, they also gutted the turret. Also the Zombies were really lazy. Like when they leave the Sheriffs office and that one deputy is zombified and hanging on the fence, just standing there holding onto the chains. You'd expect a zombie to by violently trying to tear the fence down and moaning out. He just lets him put a gun to his head and shoot, I'd expect a zombie to thrash and jerk around like a zombie. I think I'm going to get that uniform and wear it to PAX actually, because the idea of a modern 'Sheriff' in a land of outlaws and zombies seems extremely badass to me.
Best show ever.
Best show ever.
IMHO I think it's a little too early to say that, but if you say so...
Good premier. I have high hopes for this.
-snip-
Decent so far. They borrowed quite a bit from many other zombies movies and the whole plot of this episode was rather predictable. Hopefully this gets better, but I have a feeling it will get worse like many other shows. This show will probably take the route of shows like Prison Break, good beginning but end up being shitty and stretched out way beyond where it should have ended.
Nothing spectacular. It's a show with zombies in it...can't really bring anything fresh to the table.
Nothing spectacular. It's a show with zombies in it...can't really bring anything fresh to the table.
for the record, there are very few tv shows centered around zombies
This was just so much better then i thought it would be and I like how it wasn't rushed. This will be one the few shows i will actually keep up to date with.

The Walking Dead is.
Prison Break wasn't adapted from a comic book. The Walking Dead is.
I know this, but leave it up to TV producers to shit it up.
