Walking is very complex movement, I'm not sure if Zombies would even be able to do that, but who cares.
Walking is an instinct. So yeah, they should be able to. Running is a bit more complicated, but that depends on how the virus works.
I can't wait to see how they handle Rick [sp] Losing one arm in the tv series [/sp].
Fuck, I wish I hadn't read that spoiler.
I really enjoyed it. Pleasantly surprised.
I do wonder what their budget is, since the effects seems pretty nice for a series. xd
Fuck, I wish I hadn't read that spoiler.
Well, if it makes you feel any better it's [sp] his hand not arm, my mistake.[/sp]
I think many of you people are forgetting how god damned big the world actually is
Again you're relying on fiction to supercede what actually happens, which doesn't happen, you're also grossly mis-estimating the ability for humans beings to kill the fuck out of anything they deem worthy of extermination. NO virus has the ability to create an ANYTHING in minutes, and any toxin that does result in tissue damage, zombies aren't particularly scary if they can't get up anymore and menace you, secondly there are plenty of weapons that remove the head by removing the entire fucking zombie. There are plenty of others ways to remove the human race from existence without relying on shambly undead who eventually ROT AWAY. Humans who simply clamp off for a couple of months can outlast the dread apocalypse, much less a couple of years.
[sp]Even as the WD shows, people don't stop having kids even after being infected. If there's anything the human race is awesome at, it's having way too fucking many kids way too fast; and point of fact being the human race has already survived two ELEs that were way more destructive than groany dead people.[/sp]
The horror borne from zombies is that of complete alienation and isolation. If you're positing an end of the world scenario zombies are pretty low on the list.
Yeah, so, I hate to burst your bubble, but some university scientists have been working on the zombie problem:
http://mysite.science.uottawa.ca/rsmith43/Zombies.pdf
We are screwed, basically.
I thought the show was brilliant. I liked the grey/dead/dirty/dusty look of the zombies. Some of them looked dry, even. But what I liked best was the humanity it brought to the genre. I though Rick was awesome. He's a cop, so he's gotta "keep it together," but I liked his bewildered look as he left the hospital and his breakdown at his house.
Finally, my favorite part was when the scene with Morgan trying to shoot his wife is juxtaposed with the scene where Rick kneels next to the crawling zombie and says "I'm sorry this happened to you." One thing that zombie films rarely touch on is the horror that the zombies were in fact once human beings (generally, zombie flicks rely on the gore/monster factor for the horror). You see how truly tragic some of the zombies are, and how pathetic they are, too.
Oh, and please, I know that horror films rely a bit on realism to drum up the horror, nit picking is just dumb. I'm sorry real life experience has taught you that tanks aren't roomy . . . but see, I believe that there are stockpiles of "zombie contingency" weapons where roomy tanks with bottom escape hatches are stored for when the outbreak happens.
Arguing about zombies being possibly real?

That is not the point. To even discuss zombies properly we HAVE TO assume they magically work. Posting that comic no matter how many times is just a fun killer.
What I don't understand about movies like Dawn of the Dead is where the Airforce and Navy went. You'd think those two branches would actually stand a good chance of survival.
I think individual fleets and ships pretty much decided to keep to themselves
Boats float for ages due to nuclear power, but airplanes don't fly for so long
Definetly gonna research this when I get home from College, looks great.
This page has been full on r etarded.
Asian premier also this Friday on FX at 11pm. I'll be watching.

Actually, I'd be pretty paranoid during the clean up procedure if I did survive, could be one lurking in every nook and cranny, just waiting for you to walk past, to fall over, grab hold and take a bite.
The fear lurking in the dark is just as scary if not more than the mobile horror.

Uh, this doesn't work without "I pity the fool!" at the end.
When's the next episode due?
Sunday, isn't it?
[editline]4th November 2010[/editline]
Asian premier also this Friday on FX at 11pm. I'll be watching.
Same as the UK, although I think it's at 9PM but that's probably because of the timezone difference.
Urrrgghhhh don't think I get FX with our TV package, guess I'll just have to wait till it comes to DVD then and certainly not get it anywhere else.
Come on! Nick Fury is more resourceful than that!
Online streaming is your answer.
Yay, next episode airs on my birthday!
If I find myself in a world where the dead come back to life and attack the living, I ain't sitting next to a dead guy without checking to see if he's dead dead, or alive dead. ESPECIALLY if I just escaped a pack of zombies, since the whole "dead people are after me" thing would be fresh in my mind.
The only reason that sticks out to me is because the show is so well done, well written, that it felt awkward. And in a way the show admits it, because the other guy calls him a dumbass. Why do you think he did that? Because that whole sequence of events was not a good example of smart thinking by Rick, that's why.
well he didn't actually SEE any people turn. so
I have a question. On the part where [sp]He is walking through the hospital and he looks through that window and the chick is missing all her skin and muscle, was that the zombies or the flu?[/sp]
I thought [sp]the girl was supposed to have been eaten by zombies[/sp]
Idk, why but after watching this I feel my chances of surviving in a zombie apocalypse is near 0.

The zombies were pitifully slow, if you got out of the city you'd be able to live, although only barely since I doubt you know to how to farm crops or grow animals

That's the way they were in the comic too, though.
Growing animals?
If you've got enough cows and shit to feed them with you're set for life
The zombies were pitifully slow, if you got out of the city you'd be able to live, although only barely since I doubt you know to how to farm crops or grow animals
It's just that this show actually shows more emotion and how real it is.
