only six? i guess they did that so as not to spend too much money on production incase it wasn't liked?
The comic is 70+ parts, perhaps they're keeping the seasons short so they won't catch up with the comic too soon? Though I'm not sure, I haven't read any of the comics so I wouldn't know how quick events happen in the comic compared to the show.
On book 37 now... I hate that [sp]Rick lost his hand[/sp] :(
Why do I click spoiler tags? Damnit.
If it makes you feel any better, there's nothing in the book so far that makes it so important to the plot that they couldn't change it.
Awesome show. How many episodes are there going to be? 6 episodes? (just looked it up)
There will be six episodes this season, but I think they're going to do a full thirteen episode season next season.

oh okay
There's a good probability they will issue a second season though, I hope so anyway.
they fucking better, or else some heads are going to need smashing
Breaking Bad was the same way. It only had 7 episodes the first season, but it also had very poor statistics the first couple episodes, due to there not being much advertising for it. Breaking Bad has just finished its third season and is already renewed for a fourth. I can see Walking Dead being renewed, as there is a set story already, which cuts down production time and is why I think the production value is so excellent for a shows pilot. We won't know for a while if Walking Dead will be renewed, but I can see it has a high probability for it though.
So is this any good?
Yes. Very.
This show went completely under my radar, but today I saw an article on the show in an entertainment magazine, and while reading it a small featurette on the show popped up on "on demand". The show was calling to me. I dropped everything and put the episode on. It. Was. Excellent. It reminds me a lot of 28 Days Later (one of my favorite films) in that the focus isn't on zombies, if focuses on people and the fear, loss, panic, and sprinklings of badassery that come from a zombie apocalypse. It understands that zombies aren't just for gore, but a tool for exploring human emotion. One theme that I loved in 28 Days Later was the "twist" in the end that, in a zombie apocalypse, the real monsters are the humans. I'm sure we'll be seeing things like this from the show and I can't wait for it. [sp]Also, I never would have thought they could make me feel so sad for the bike zombie. It's hideous and downright nightmare fuel, but with a bit of character growth and effective directing they turned it into something pitiful and sympathetic. And then with a gun at its head it reaches out. Is it saying "no please don't", "thank you", or just trying to tear at his flesh with the ounce of strength it has left? I don't know, but it makes you think. That was a powerful scene.[/sp]
Does it really run through the books that fast? i mean could anybody tell us how many books the first episode has run through?
I would say half of the first book, from what I remember. [editline]7th November 2010[/editline] I went back to check, it got to about halfway through the second book.
Shit... after the events around the 50th issue... I'm almost too sad to read.
i went through all 78 current issues today, and god damn.
i went through 1 and 1/2 and didn't like it imma just watch the show
Watching the first episode. Seems really good so far.
i went through 1 and 1/2 and didn't like it imma just watch the show
you, sir, just made an epic fail.
Apparently the first episode is on FX uk tonight? I thought it was Friday? Definitely going to watch it. Okay, repeated tonight. Fuck yeah.
look i'm the biggest zombie fan ever, the first ep was just alright i don't have high hopes, but i'd love for it to be a good. we could use a great zombie tv show but from what i've seen, it wasn't fantastic. never really captured me or drew me in. the acting was sup-par too. very disappointed, as i said i would love a zombie tv show so much. i mean feel free to disagree, but everyone was making it out to be the bees knees, the best tv show that ever existed, and that excited me because it has zombies in it too. but damn guys you fooled me, so shattered that it's only just okay.

and i dont like the sounds the zombies make, or the actors that play the zombies they don't feel or sound right to me especially the black dudes wife, she was terrible at being a zombie, she moved more like a chicken
I watched it earlier having not seen any advertisement or pre release material for it, and I thought it was very good, I have high hopes for this series.
I dont know about you guys, but if I am locked into a tank, I gonna fucking start that thing up by pressing 1 button and gonna drive by pushing 2 switches. Thats basic tank manuvering.
Except he was in the wrong place, he'd have to leave the tank and crawl to the front, open the drivers hatch and pop himself in. That's how it works on an Abrams, although I'm starting to doubt the tank in The Walking Dead is an Abrams which makes even less sense because why would we have our military using foreign tanks in Atlanta?
To anyone who has read the books/comics and is watching the show who enjoys both, should I go ahead and read all the 78 issues to feed my addiction, or should I wait for the surprises to come in the show? I've always wanted to read it until I saw the announcement for the show, so I put it on hold but now I just crave more. HELP.
Yep, that's definitely a Chieftain. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/386727/ScrnCap/the-walking-dead-tank.png[/img_thumb] Maybe the brits went to save the amerifags but the zombies ate them.
Yup, it isn't American. Not positive how you get to the drivers seat on one of these, but I see a hatch in the front so I can only assume.
