I pronounce it Mišon [sp]I don't think they're going to do that this time though, seems like they're instead going to use that on his wife[/sp] [editline]24th November 2010[/editline] Because having the main actor [sp]walk around with a fake stump might be too annoying for them to go for it, although who knows?
Zombies are reanimated corpses. When someone gets bitten or infected they usually die as a result of the infection/virus. After they pass then that is when they come back as zombies. In 28 days later the infection started with rage, which was transmitted via bodily fluid or a bite. The monkey bit the girl and she turned, later throwing up blood which transmitted it to the other person. The disease is almost like rabies, it messed with the person psychologically - sure they go after and try to eat people (not really eat, but brutally kill the fucking person.) but that is a basic function to live. In traditional zombie films you have to die in order to change. Not in this case, because it isn't zombies but infected. You must eat or consume something or parish. In 28 weeks later if you followed the story you hear that most of the infected began to starve that is how most of them died. That was the only true cure to the infection and even then the two main characters carried the virus but it had no effect on them. A infected sharing his experience with rage. You can even see how they transmit the infection and act. It is completely barbaric, rather then the whole "uuuuummm braaaains" Most zombies are the simple dead, shuffling, moan, groan and eat your brains type. They didn't have any intelligence, at least the original zombies did. Zombie is such a loose term now because of how many variations but you can't argue when a movie like 28 days later or weeks later clearly call these monsters "infected." They look like zombies but the back story and the way the function clearly shows they're far from it.
Here's the thing though, as you said zombie is a loosely used term, it also has no REAL definition (aside from the snake voodoo god) The way I define zombie is, if it has no self control, attacks "normal" humans/animals, and appears in a trance like state (trance being anywhere from shambling/looking confused to [once again] no control) than it's a zombie. By the way your reasoning on "infected" is flawed. In a majority of modern zombie movies/shows/books/etc, the zombies are explained to be caused from some type engineered disease (majority of the time). Wouldn't that technically make them infected. The infection is what would bring back the corpse.
New Governor avatar reporting in.
I counter with ragin' Rick.
cg is so hard
With CG it costs $15,000 to add in digitized bees. You gonna pay for it?
[sp]Having him lose his hand would require a good amount of CGI, prosthetics and tricky camera angles[/sp], which means we would have to wait even longer for new episodes.
not really.
I just about cried at the last part of the previous episode... She was the hot one out of the bunch, and the touching conversation they had at the beginning of it with their dad just made it even worse. I love this series, so much.
[sp]Having him lose his arm would require a good amount of CGI, prosthetics and tricky camera angles[/sp], which means we would have to wait even longer for new episodes.
[sp]Shit, does this mean it's possible that we won't see Dale get his leg chopped off?[/sp]
"boo hoo theres character development i just want mindless zombie killing because i like left 4 dead"
Hey bepassley you seem to have forgotten something. The eyes of TH89 are everywhere!
They could simply just wrap his hand in a good amount of bandage. I mean, that's what they'd do before CGI, and it's still a great effect, seeing him unable to use his hands.
[sp]I don't think they're going to do that this time though, seems like they're instead going to use that on his wife[/sp]
They already did that in the first ep, why would they repeat themselves?

It's really not that hard. They did it in this fanmade one, and if I remember right they just wrapped it in green tape or something like that. :siren:Don't watch if you don't want to get later on spoiled:siren:

I got spoiled by watching the preview for the next episode, as I haven't read the comics. Stupid move, Carne, stupid. Apparently [sp]Jim is dying and that girl becomes a zombie.[/sp]
So I just saw the latest episode. It was fucking awesome and unexpected for once.
I don't like watching the previews for next week. I like to keep it a surprise.
I don't like watching the previews for next week. I like to keep it a surprise.
When the show ends it CLEARLY states, "Stay tuned for previews of next week's episode after the commercial." At this moment (granted you have the willpower) you should be able to switch the channel.
My take on comic happenings regarding limbs in regards to the show (big comic spoilers ahoy): [sp]I don't think they cut off Rick's hand. I believe they included the one with Merle as substitute, and that it will limit our hero too much. I do believe, however, that some sort of lasting hand injury will occur (think when he hurts it while beating the prisoner) which will limit his use. I think that the other atrocities that happen during the prison arc will be more than enough to allow for the loss of Rick's hand to be excluded.[/sp] [sp]I do think that Dale's amputations stay in the series. Not only is it an important revelation that death via bite can be prevented, but the second amputation with the cannibals and his following death add a capstone to the overall character of Dale (who is important to the series). Legs can easily be tricked using special wheelchairs or beds, and the crew will not have to work around the injury for more than 2 seasons, whereas Rick's will be continuing.[/sp] I enjoy this kind of discussion :)
If you watch AMC's previews after the ep airs, it's only like what? 30-45 seconds out of the entire hour? It's not like it ruins much. Hell, did last weeks preview show the survivor encampment get munched on? Nay.
rick [sp]losing his hand is an essential part of the story.[/sp]
Comic Spoilers (for the crybabies) [sp]Only towards people calling him handicapped. Tyreese says something like "You're handicapped now Rick!" when telling him not to go out on a mission. He stays, but we see him continue to perform. The only real hiccup is when he can't quite get to the brain of a walker with an axe (where he's also just recovered from a near-death infection). Can easily be reproduced with a regular hand injury. All it shows is that 1. Nobody is safe, and that 2. The Governor is a sadistic bastard. For the former, I think that the gut shot he takes satisfies that need. The latter is taken care of by so much besides the hand. Not to mention, the killing of his wife and baby satisfies both of those points. It really is a minor hindrance when you take a look at what happens. It is mostly a shocking moment, little more.[/sp] [sp]Hell, I'd be more surprised if some sort of artificial hand isn't given to him one of these days... particularly by Mr. Lying Science Teacher.[/sp]

Including the introduction of the zombie gladiator type thing, and Michonne's rape by him.[/sp]
I would be pissed if I was someone who hadn't read the comic series, yet is watching the show. There is such a massive amount of spoilers in the above posts, which seems so tempting to click. [editline]24th November 2010[/editline] [sp] The torture scenes are going to be implied more than anything. We can't have full castration, eye gouging, and general painful things happening in a show. It's just gonna get too bloody sometimes. Though it's going to be awesome how they pull off the rapings and torture.[/sp]
Issue 79: [sp]"Fuck me." Good way to start off the "Trapped" arc, I believe it's called.[/sp]
just read through issue 79 [sp]god damn it's so predictable that a herd would eventually surround the town, and any speculations on why the leader is worried about the snow?[/sp]

I plan on reading the comics, but I have read most if not all the above spoilers. Oh well. As for the [sp]torture[/sp] stuff, The Walking Dead is the most gory thing I've seen allowed on television, besides [sp]castration[/sp], I'm sure they can and hopefully will show most of everything else.
[sp]Fuck me.[/sp]
I'll just say it's your own fault for clicking spoilers.
