Yeah, if you can't come to terms with that, this definitely isn't the storyline for you.
It's not that they died, it's that they died so early after absolutely no development, even though there was huge potential.
It's like if alyx died two chapters after you meet her in HL2.

Welcome to the Walking Dead, it's called a plot device.

There won't be much of a plot left if everyone dies before season 2 starts :buddy:
isn't the actor who played the scientist the guy from uhhh
well multiple things but i think he was in Monk, the guy who Monk hated and also visited the same therapist

That's what makes this story so good. All the characters are characters, not just Red Shirts, and just when you come to love them and think they're safe, they get blown away with a shotgun or decapitated or eaten alive.

Nobody has died so far that hasn't died in the book and the book is still running along just fine.

except you don't come to love them because they die within 20 minutes of screen time.

I'm talking about the characters that actually get developed more. Everyone has a story and potential, but that doesn't matter because all of a sudden they'll die. And you'll miss those characters, but you're forced to move on, just like the characters are.
I just demand we keep Dale alive. If Dale dies then there will be hell to pay. Glenns kinda cool too.
I feel I should mention that the books follow Rick. He is the main focus of the story and everyone else is expendable and not even Rick is untouchable (and when I say everyone I mean everyone).

[sp]Dale makes it pretty far in the books, but he dies eventually.[/sp]
[sp] Does the Black guy (I forget his name.) Ever show back up in the comic? [/sp]

[sp]I don't remember but apparently he does and his kid is a zombie. I've read the books but it's been a while so I can't remember.[/sp]
This is the most unrealistic show on television... "The French were the last ones to Hold out."
We all know the French surrendered to the zombie invasion right away and appointed one as the prime minister in hopes they would stop biting everyone.

You'd think Switzerland would be pretty well off with all those mountains.
I wonder how Madagascar is faring.

I thought it was a kind of an easter egg.

You're thinking of Tim Bagley and that isn't him.
I'm pretty sure he was in an episode of Monk though.

What issue is that?
What issue is that?
I'm not sure, I buy the trade paperbacks so I don't even really know what issue I'm on. Someone else posted that earlier in the thread.

{comic} [sp]Issue 58 is when they find Morgan and Duane again.[/sp]
The scientist is actor Noah Emmerich. I remember him from The Truman Show (played Truman's best friend).
I like how the director made sure we got one last peek down Amy's shirt before she's gone from the show. It appealed to my inner necrophiliac.
And now for my predictions for this season and the transfer into the next:
{weaves in SPOILERS from the comic, so DO NOT click if you don't want to find out what might possibly happen}
Seriously, here be spoilers. But mostly a stream-of-thought ramble about finale/transition/season 2 predictions/guesses.
[sp]I think the CDC will be a one-episode thing. It looks like the characters suit-up to battle an onslaught of zombie attackers. I believe the center will become overrun, forcing the group to flee the city and go back on the road. Of course, this is not before we learn something about the virus. *queue suspenseful music*
I think the short time spent at the gated community will be skipped and replaced by the CDC. I'm guessing the end of the season 1 finale will show our characters on the road coming towards the camera, dead city in the background.
This leads me to conclude the second season will begin with the group hunting for food and being miserable in the wilderness... within an episode or two, the hunting accident will happen (perhaps exchange of fire between one character that should be dead, and another that does the deed? Farm guy hears the gunfire and finds the group?), leading to time spent at the farm. About halfway through, the group takes off and finds the prison (Michonne wanders upon the farm is my guess, to introduce her early), and the rest of the season is spent cleaning up and making it "home." The helicopter is spotted and the few leave (maybe with the possibility of capture?) as the last episode of season 2.[/sp]
That's just my rambling guess and prediction... but it might be better adjusted come the finale.
Edit: Might as well add... I thought this episode was good. I liked the panic at the end, and the emotional toll of leaving Jim.
[sp]the next week thing on tv they showed looks more like a flashback or security camera recording rather than the center being overrun. most likely, the scientist will tell them what he can through what the CDC has already, but obviously we won't learn the origin, more likely that's how rick will come to determine that they are the walking dead and that bites aren't the only way to reanimate. also, the gated community is where they meet tyrese, so unless the writers are scrapping those characters (bad idea), then it's definitely still in. also, the prison is supposed to be in at the last episode of season 2, so there would still be plenty of time for the gated community, herschel's farm (how do you spell that guy's name), and getting to the prison.[/sp]
holy shit adagio in d minor

Fuck, I don't remember half the shit from the books, I need to go back and reread them all.

Australia couldn't defend against kangaroo zombies. Not sure about Iceland
For some reason I really liked Jim. :sigh:
Last episode was great, next episode is when they find out that the virus is in everyone and that it's a pandemic on a global scale.
this show has shockingly little characterization, especially considering how much focus there is on the characters
[editline]30th November 2010[/editline]
like, they don't really seem to have all that distinct personalities.
[editline]30th November 2010[/editline]
all the characters feel very flat, i feel like it really tries to give them life, but in trying to hard it falls so short
