I thought the premiere was pretty good, but I thought the stomach cutting scene was a bit silly.
Who's first response would be to cut open the zombies stomach to check if it ate a little girl? Plus, it's not like you would really be able to tell what is what in there. As soon as they suggested it, I was like "oh jeez". It seemed like a gory scene for gorry's sake. I don't know if this was in the comics, I never read them, but I'm just stating my opinion.
But honestly I'm just being picky, it was a good season premiere.
There's plenty of other things to be picky about and that stomach thing isn't really one of them.
Pretty sweet episode, but this commercial really caught my eye;

Especially since one of these events is happening close to where I live.

It was, one of the producers goals was to get in trouble with AMC over that scene.

Saw one of those too.
I have until May 2012 to train! :v:
What a great way to kick off the season. Plenty of tense moments in this episode that had my sweaty-palmed.
It's been a while since I read the comics, but (future spoilers, don't click if you haven't read the comics) [sp]wasn't the kid shot by a group of hunters?[/sp]
I noticed some product placement in this episode, especially the Hyundai.
Wow. I thought the first season was good, nothing particularly special but good. That premiere completely blew me away. Had me gripped right from the start. The characters seemed a lot more believable, the action was better paced. My only criticism is that the sound effects when they hit the zombies sounds incredibly cheesy.

[sp]Just Otis, one of Hershel's group. The Hunter don't appear for a good long while yet.[/sp]
Also, I was thinking about future casting earlier; calling it now, a few seasons down the line, we'll have a moustached-Thomas Jane as Abraham Ford. Mark my words.

He would've made a great Rick Grimes, too.

Yes, from the Farm. [sp]Guess where they're going[/sp].
Did anyone catch the trailer after the end of last nights showing? What caught my eye the most in that trailer was the fact of the three helicopters flying off.
NOW THAT'S HOW YOU END AN EPISODE! Me and my friend were making jokes about the deer inviting the kid to his magical kingdom, but then..
The new episode just reminded me of how much I love this show
One hell of an episode indeed, I almost died when [sp]Carl was reaching for that bag of knives next to the dead guy[/sp]
Wow. I liked the first season, but man this just was amazing. Seriously the entire highway scene was so tense I actually thought [sp]T-Dogg was gone for.[/sp]
Also, since I read the comics and I'm up to date, I think the reason for the entire CDC plot arc before was to show that there is some hope for survival. Because unlike the comics, which the creator said he plans to keep on doing, the show will have to eventually end, as nobody would want it dragged on until it sucks, so I have a feeling that the CDC was just showing that there might be a happy ending after all.
Also what happened to the [sp]hunters who shot carl in the comics? Did they die or what?[/sp]

[sp] It was Otis who shot Carl in the comic, not a group of hunters. He ended up dead eventually at the Prison. During the Governor's attack iirc[/sp]
Sad that [sp]Carl got shot[/sp].
Daryl is boss.
Seems like fairly appropriate product placement.
I was a Gerber baby.
Pretty cool episode. Very tense!
[editline]17th October 2011[/editline]
I had no issues with the Gerber product placement. It was better than the Mustang from the second episode; they actually had low-angle slow-motion shots of that thing drifting around corners. They might as well have ripped that footage straight from a car commercial.

You mean Challenger?
The highway was one of the best scenes in The Walking Dead imo.
Tense as hell.
Next episode looks like it'll be hectic as hell.
[sp]Especially interested in the chopper part[/sp]
Those were snippets from the entire season.
You probably won't see those until the end of the season.
They did the same thing with the 1st season, they showed scenes from way later episodes.
If you watched the Talking Dead show after the season premier, they showed an exclusive preview of the 2nd episode, not just episodes to come.
They [sp]Go to the hospital that Rick woke up in[/sp] in episode 2. Don't worry about it being a major spoiler, thats the major premise for the entire episode and maybe even episode 3.

Why the hell would they [sp]go back to the hospital? That's so incredibly far away from everything. And Hershel's is right there. There is even a shot of Rick running towards [presumably] Hershel's in trailer footage - carrying a crippled Carl.[/sp]
[sp]Also goddammit Shane I want you dead. Now Carl has to recover before he can shoot you. Fuck.[/sp]
You mean Challenger?
Yeah, whatever the hell it was. When the asian dude started drifting around corners like a stunt driver.

All Asians have an innate ability to drift. Westerners call it bad driving because we just don't understand.
Yay
