Symbolism.
I see your Daleks and I raise you..

Just got a wee bit giddy.
While we're on a Classic Who binge.
Outpost Skaro say in the podcast that their source has nothing to do with the "90 in Africa" rumour. They were told by two separate sources that it's 3 episodes in watchable condition. Plenty more sources have come forward to them since.
Meanwhile at London Film and Comic Con a young fan had the mic snatched away when he tried to ask a panel about the rumours classic episodes have been found.
A staff member at Forbidden planet says a few have been found but it's still under wraps.
Doctor Who Online was told a long time ago apparently by the BBC and assumed it was to be announced the next weekend, which is why they said "big news coming this weekend". Turns out it wasn't due to be announced yet.
Outpost Skaro points out that there's 2/3 different rumours flying around and they can't all be true. People are getting confused and putting rumours together when some aren't true. As a result when one turns out to be false, you jump on all of them as false.

Omg omg omg omg. A new #TheFourth video.
That Terror of the Zygons dvd is unusual. It's a cover art I've never seen before. Plus the jewel case is really thin, like the sort you get in big box sets. The rumour is it's a compelte Fourth Doctor Box Set. Apparently it's beautifully packaged.

Finally.

There's a "Countdown to Regeneration" on the official Eighth Doctor Page. Registered members get to see it first. Off you go. Register.
That's until the content unlocks

I actually finished something :v:
It doesn't matter how this started out - but it became 101 reasons why I'll miss Matt Smith.
If there is a countdown for McGann's regeneration, that goes directly into the rumour that he'll get a regen scene.
But why does it say for Eccleston and Tennant: "Regeneration in (MONTH) August" and "Regeneration in (MONTH) September"?
If Mcgann returned for a cameo in the 50th anniversary I would be very very happy

Because it is more than a month away, the countdown starts at 1 month.
But why does Tennant have to have a regeneration sequence..?
I would love to see the Doctor travel the multiverse, he's been everywhere in the universe. They should do more stories where he has to figure an impossible situation with lateral thinking, that's what makes me watch, rather than defeating the enemy with some whimsical notion or because someone loves or hopes hard enough, I've had enough of that crap.
I always wonder, with shows with interuniversal travel, why don't they travel to this universe?
Would be a really neat story.

They mean site regeneration.
But I'm being reliably informed we will get our McGann regeneration next month so just hang on :P

Trackboy says it's likely they'll announce 12 when they're going to get the most exposure. Possibly Comic Con.
Also there's a travelling exhibition about Doctor Who set to be announced soon. It will go further than the UK too. Australia for example (Trackboy used this as an example as it's where he is from, probably will travel worldwide).
A post on GB today:
Heard this rumor from two people. One works at the BBC press office, one is a theatrical agent. Don't know if it is true but I thought it was worth mentioning since it deals with a relatively unknown actor. The rumor is that Moffat conducted various screen tests with would-be actors for the role of the new Doctor. For the most part, the actors involved (half a dozen or so) spent one afternoon reading scripts, doing scenes etc. One of the said actors was invited back for a longer day long session. His name is Callum Arnott. I have never heard of him but I guess he is a well known (?) stage actor in London. He has been in various TV shows before including Queer as Folk. He looks older than Smith but younger than the average Doc. Anyway, that's all I heard and I just thought it was interesting because rumors that are hearsay usually concern big name stars rather than little known folk like this guy and Matt Smith before him.
A reply:
I have a 40-ish actor friend -- with connections to the show -- who put himself up for the role and was told he was too old to audition (but this may just be his agent's way of letting him down gently). So screen tests have presumably happened or are still taking place.
You can find Callum's show-reel on this page, not sure about him myself.
He looks creepy
He looks creepy
I remember thinking what a creepy weirdo Matt Smith looked like in the first promo shots they released of him hanging around the police box...

People just grow on you I guess.
He looks a little too... Normal, I dunno.

I liked his Fresh Meat bit. If he spoke with that voice and had that sort of look I can see it.
In all cases I can see him doing the comedy/serious balance well. I can also picture him reeling off pages of technobabble like it's a second language.
It's just in all the other clips he looks like a below average actor.
[editline]8th July 2013[/editline]
It's possible this poster is trying to raise the profile of Callum. Or it could be Callum himself. Being linked to the role brings you a lot of attention.
It's just odd how the trusted sources have all said "Ben Daniels" up until a couple of months ago. Even if it's not still Ben, surely a replacement was lined up and ready. What about Gleeson? idk
[editline]8th July 2013[/editline]
Two more posters have said they've heard Callums name before from certain places. One points out he's the first body-builder body type to play the role.
Back to rumor time, eh?
Doctor Who travels in time but it's always Rumous&Bullshit O'clock.

for a show about space/time travel, doctor who is really lacking alternate universe stories.
for a show about space/time travel, doctor who is really lacking alternate universe stories.
He's been everywhere and everywhen, there is nothing wrong with putting the character in a new universe with people and creatures he hasn't seen before.

He's effectively telling you your idea is good because there's not enough alt-universe stories and you shout at him? Read it again, he's agreeing with you.
That said there's enough alt-verse stories. You do it too much and it becomes less impactful. Wedding of River Song, The Big Bang, All Alt-Cybermen stories, Inferno, and Turn Left spring to mind.

Inferno, Battlefield, Alt-Cybermen, Big Bang, Wedding of River Song.
5 stories for 50 years :v:
I think there's still a lot more that could be done.
Most of which have been done in the last 5 ;)

Supernatural did that with an episode
