Shit what did I miss then, if it was not the 50 year special. Correction, what is the 50 year special. Man i dont know anything. Related - Im on the season 4 to season 5 mini series thing with the hour long episodes. Its really nice.
All you missed was a Special Doctor Who Edition of the Proms (a big British music concert) in which music from and inspired by the show was played by an orchestra.
50th anniversary special is November, the Doctor Who prom was over the weekend.
This special does that tie into the 8th season?
This special does that tie into the 8th season?
Not really. There's going to be a christmas special after that (Matt Smith's last), and then series 8 will start fresh with a new doctor, and most likely a new over-arching story.
I hope whatever happens in the 50th gets mentioned in the show again.

Travellers will be treated to a variety of Who surprises over the course of the week as part of the launch of the new partnership. A number of experiences will be on offer at the airport, including TARDIS photo booths, props, memorabilia and augmented reality experiences. As part of tomorrow's (July 16) launch day, the London Philharmonic Orchestra will also put on performances of the show's famous theme tune in Terminal 5. Iconic monsters such as the Cybermen and Daleks will make appearances as well at the airport in the coming weeks, while Doctor Who novelist Jenny Colgan, author of the recently-released Doctor Who: Dark Horizons, will be in attendance for a special one-off book signing.
Isn't it one of the biggest airports in the UK? Jesus, this is neat.

I like all of his other stuff, but am I the only person who doesn't like the Song for 50? I feel guilty about it.
Nope. It's universally disliked. It's easier to like if you don't think of it as soundtrack, it's an original composition. It was scored before Murray had seen the 50th. Plus it breaks the 4th wall. [editline]16th July 2013[/editline]

That last clip always unsettles me. [editline]16th July 2013[/editline]
I ran into Bowie once in an ice-cream store in Reinbeck and he started talking to me about Doctor Who. He had no idea who I was, I was just a fanboy freak. [Laughs] And I said, 'I would never bother a famous person in the world, I'm so courteous and mindful of other people's privacy - except it's you!' [Laughs] I said, 'I write music for Doctor Who,' and he said, 'I'm not doing it.' I said, 'What do you mean?' and he said, 'They want me to do it.' I don't know what it means, to this day, but that's what he said. I don't know in what capacity, as an actor or as a musician. I would like to see an episode of Doctor Who scored by David Bowie. David Bowie isn't doing it. The TARDIS box is blue and there's nothing I can do.
Heathrow Airport > Official Doctor Who convention
Oh snap, I only just realized that Heathrow was the airport Tegan was so obsessed with getting back to, and where the events of Time Flight occured. It would be so cool of them to bring that up in their Doctor Who displays or something.
Daniel Rigby. Daniel Rigby. Daniel Rigby. Daniel Rigby. Daniel Rigby 12th Doctor. 12th Doctor. 12th Doctor. 12th Doctor. 12th Doctor. 12th Doctor. 100% reliable. 100% reliable. 100% reliable. 100% reliable. He plays Eric Morcambe He's also in the BT adverts as the nerdy guy. He's a BAFTA winning actor having beat both Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch a few years ago. [editline]16th July 2013[/editline] If this news gets in the press he will be officially announced. Otherwise expect official word in the second week of August. Bleeding Cool reported on it weeks ago: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/07/12/were-hearing-more-of-daniel-rigby-as-the-next-doctor-who/ He's cancelled his BT contract too. This is it.
but I wanted to find out in the show :(
You won't it's going to be announced long before then as normal. You NEVER find out during the show. Feel free to take with pinch of salt. The same source said Ben Daniels months ago.
if its not daniel rigby now im going to crucify you for that post i missed my chance with the ben daniels one but i will take my chance now if i get it
Well it's from The Doctors Trainers. Who previously told us about Zygons, the opening of TnotD, and John Hurt.
Not to bitch here. But what happened to the doctor not being a child? Two baby-faces in a row? I must protest! I mean, i'm not demanding he be 50, but 9 and 10 were visually full-grown adult men and what boyish appearance and glee 11 sported was more than made up for with equal measure of responsibility and level thinking. Now we've done the young doctor, can we return to a madman and his box? If we go further, it becomes a kid in a crate. This guy you're talking about...
He's older than Matt Smith.
He's older than Matt Smith.
Still looks and sounds like a teenager. It's not that the Doctor isn't allowed childish glee, but he's a man with a history of 900-1300 years depending on Moffats mood. No need to portray is at a prolonged Benjamin Button incident.

He was great as Eric Morcambe (BAFTA winning) and looked older when he played an older character in Black Mirror:
Daniel Rigby is a great actor - if it's 100% reliable, unlike the other times you've said it's 100% reliable, then I doubt I could be more happy about the choice. Also, is it reliable enough to put money on him?
Well the same sources say: - John Hurt is a forgotten Doctor revealed at the end of TNOTD (this was before anybody knew he was in TNOTD) - Zygons for the 50th (before it was announced) - Matt Smith is leaving at Christmas (before it was announced) - Rose is in the 50th (before it was announced) - Chris was approached but declined to be in the 50th (before it was announced) - Paul McGann has a special web episode - Episode will include "time guns" which fire people back in time - Daleks appear in Time War flashbacks - Ben Daniels is The Doctor - Ben Daniels quit - Daniel Rigby is The Doctor So the source has yet to be wrong. So that's what I call "100% reliable". Unless they've been stupidly lucky so far. This is the first time since Ben Daniels that TDT has suggested another name for 12.

Christy, sounds like the bullets for such things are the severed fingers of Weeping Angels.
Also Bleeding Cool reported on it about a week ago. So TDT could just be jacking their thunder and guessing. But it seems the word is out there it's Daniel. I heard a few days ago that they had just cast 12 and were waiting to sign him. A week ago somebody said final screen tests were taking place for 12. Murray Gold also said a week ago that 12 was in the BBC building. So it all adds up. [editline]16th July 2013[/editline] Trackboy says he heard Daniel Rigby a couple of weeks ago. He received confirmation and tweeted his name on the 13th. [editline]16th July 2013[/editline] Man, if you thought the fans were angry when Matt Smith was announced. Going to be furious this time. "The twat from the BT adverts" is going to be a line we see a lot of. [editline]16th July 2013[/editline] Okay the rumour has leaked into the Twitter world. Search his name and you'll see him getting a bit of attention. If this gets into the main press it will become official.
Okay the rumour has leaked into the Twitter world. Search his name and you'll see him getting a bit of attention. If this gets into the main press it will become official.
I'm pretty sure it "leaked into the Twitter world" 3 days ago, that's when I first read his name in relation to the Doctor.
i follow him on twitter, and he usually replies with some friendly stuff. it's sort of a shame that he's getting such a big role because now he'll never have a chat with me again :( but, if it's true, first Doctor on twitter!
