Moffat praised that great fan-made trailer for the 50th.
I come back from a trip with 215 new posts.
And I kept expecting the trailer to appear...
was first told months and months and months ago of one way that old Doctors would appear in the episode that wouldn’t require any new filming on their part
Interesting. CGI/Body doubles/new voice recordings? Like how they made Arnie appear in that Terminator film.
[editline]26th July 2013[/editline]
But a bit better obviously.
[editline]26th July 2013[/editline]
Oh ahaha, some user on GB with a good track record knows what they're talking about:
Well, I heard that too, and it was supposed to be that all the older Doctors were going to New Zealand to Peter's Jackson's studio and get animated or something... and be in a separate special.... yeah sounds to good to be true. A bunch of old Doctor did go to New Zealand, though it seemed like a visit to Peter Jackson's place wasn't on the cards. But who knows? There are those 3-D portraits in the National Gallery that play a part of the story. And that fake 50th anniversary trailer that Moffat liked so much had an arm sticking out of some portrait in it, and Moffat did say it was "spot on"
Doctor Who 50th to be simulcast worldwide:
The BBC have worked out a deal with broadcasters worldwide to simulcast the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special on 23rd November.
The decision will help prevent leaks or spoilers from surfacing online and will enable viewers worldwide to watch the special at exactly the same time.
Currently, the timeslot is scheduled at 7:00pm GMT which would air in the USA at 11:00am PST and in Australia at 6:00am on Sunday 24th November.

Sorry Australia but no sleep for you (that only really applies to Teacup and Chimp, the threads resident Australians) (like you would sleep anyway it's more exciting than Christmas)
[editline]26th July 2013[/editline]
Lol. No Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe on the Series 7 complete box set.
That's not a complete box set.
Also only three stories have commentary tracks. Bullshit. We lost confidential, you have extra disk space. I doubt a few prequels filled out all that.
Also the press release has a major typo. The prequel to Widow isn't included because the episode isn't either. Genius.
The whole set will only be three disks.
[editline]26th July 2013[/editline]
Can see it now:
"Doctor Who, The Complete series 1-7. Including The Doctor, The Widow, and The Wardrobe! Exclusive commentary tracks! Plus the 50th anniversary special! Buy it now for only $300"
[editline]26th July 2013[/editline]
ANOTHER blunder. Amazon is good at these. Almost as good as the BBC: The complete series 7 box set was briefly available for 4 pounds. It's now been taken down.
I must admit, after seeing The Adventures of Tintin, i do believe that if it wasn't so stylised (The faces in the film) it could definitly look "real", and while it might be slightly eerie if the older doctors were animated, it COULD work.

sorry mate, what
Goddamn I've been watching House of Cards for a while now and only now realized that Adam Galloway is played by Ben Daniels.
Man this is so different from Doctor Who, but it still makes me think he could have done a damn good job.

Come back Saturday/Sunday.
[editline]26th July 2013[/editline]
Digital Spy mentioned the special would broadcast at 8pm and be 90 minuets long. It has since edited that bit out.

A new entertainment show begins filming next month - the first episode will celebrate Doctor Who!

Fantabulous.
Also a BBC statement to clarify the obvious.

A lot of people said it was coming Saturday.
But the quote just posted by Grizz reveals it's apparently not coming at all.
Though the rumours also said we'd be getting a different trailer Saturday with 4 Doctors in as opposed to the 3 in the Comic Con version.

I do believe this is the program I heard about a while back. It will feature lots of "best of Doctor Who moments" including new scenes for classic Doctors written by Mark Gatiss.
Also it's worth noting the pilot isn't just the episode celebrating Doctor Who, it's a pilot for a show that celebrates Doctor Who. It will be several episodes of Doctor Who celebration with guests. The plan is to have an episode go out on the 23rd completely live. But you heard nothing from me

Source? RadioTimes has it as just a pilot for the a new series celebrating classic TV shows - being filmed on one night. No mention of it being Doctor Who centric if the BBC actually picks up the series (which it may not do, of course).
ETA: The official release goes with that.
BBC Entertainment & Events invites you to come and join the party by being in the audience for a pre-record of an exciting new BBC One series pilot, celebrating some of the UK's longest running TV shows.
Featuring special guests and memorable clips from the show's history, this episode focuses on the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who.
Also, not expecting a trailer on Saturday. The BBC are fond of midnight releases to coincide with embargo drops. No word on anything in the next few hours.

Adventures of Time and Space trailer was put somewhere where they'll have trouble getting it taken down. Did the 'no more comic con exclusives' thing also count for this? If so.. well no more comic con exclusives.
No I stopped expecting the trailer a couple of hours ago. ColinBakerFans and DoctorWhoOnline both said it was coming. At multiple points this week and it seemed like Saturday/Sunday was a perfect time.
Oh I misread it as a "celebrating the uks longest running TV show" and just assumed Doctor Who. But this could be the "Best of Doctor Who" thing unless that's still unannounced.
[editline]26th July 2013[/editline]
I doubt we'll get this trailer at all. Which is a dick move but hey, dems da breaks.

Yep.
Basically Moffat told them to not describe or film the Sherlock clip. And people put it all over the web and on Tumblr. I think it was an audio file on Tumblr which pissed Moffat off.
So Moffat put on his disappointed parent voice and basically warned "don't put this online, after Sherlock we were considering not showing this but we decided to be nice. Do not put this trailer online or there will be NO MORE COMIC CON EXCLUSIVES".
Then Mark Gatiss jumped in with "Also same applies for my show". To which Moffat agreed with.

just gonna take my hat and scarf, and who t-shirt. i wasn't planning on entering the competition
They should sell rubber Steven Moffat masks and torsos to Doctor Who fans. To this thread. To me. They should sell it for free. It should be a gift.
I'd run around shouting "YOU ARE ERASED FROM DOCTOR WHO" and making witty comments.
Moffat will write a kiss into the 50th. Between 10 and 11. Maybe 11 just grabs him in excitement like he did Rory once.
I imagine Moffat writing it, laughing out loud thinking about Gallifrey Base shitting themselves with rage.
Oh I hope Moffat hasn't missed this golden opportunity to make The Doctor kiss himself, and then Hurt to quip about how he can look forward to that from both perspectives.
What you going dressed as? Go as a bare-chested Moffat
okay seriously where and when did this start
okay seriously where and when did this start
At the dawn of time from the heart of a dying star emerged a bare-chested Moffat with god like powers.
He flies and farts lasers. Sometimes he erases people from hit TV programs. By farting on them.
It's like Superman.
By day he's Steven Moffat, but when danger rises on the set of Doctor Who he rips off his shirt and nobody can recognise him.
He's a well defined Adonis. But when he's finished saving the world he becomes the slightly pale, podgy, hairy Scottish man we all love. Fact.
