Been to three different websites and three different people have hinted at Sam Troughton.
This never ends :v:

Harry Melling is another name now in the hat.
Another grandson of Patrick Troughton. He was in Harry Potter as that nasty cousin Dudley.
Tom Baker and Peter Davison advising the 12th Doctor? Will be fun to see.
Though it does suggest the actor in question will be there. So it hinges on Rigby's show "cancellation" - which so far has only be cancelled in the eyes of Twitter users.
Correction- Tom Baker is fun to see.
Just give the man a topic and let him talk about it for the whole show. Will be much better than anything else they have planned.
Imagine if on Sunday they revealed John Hurt as the next Doctor and it's just all the theories were completely wrong somehow. Or maybe Matt regenerates and then that version of the Doctor is the one who ends the timewar or something (I'm missing details but you get the basic thought).
Obviously that won't happen but it'd be hilarious.
Wait, wait. Wasn't the Valeyard supposed to be the Doctors' 12 or 13th incarnation? Also, he was portrayed as an older man in the Classic Series, so that's most likely why Moffat is choosing an older actor to play the Doctor. John Hurt may as well be the Valeyard.
Sorry left you all in the lurch there.
I was watching Harry Potter and half reading Gallifrey Base. Saw the Bleeding Cool article being discussed and posted the rough details here. Couldn't post a link as I was on an iPhone.. and watching Harry Potter.
Anyway here it is:
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/08/03/finally-a-ginger-doctor-who/
It's the general word among people actually at the festival that Rigbys 15:00 appearance is cancelled as he "has to be somewhere else".
Of course take with pinches of salt. I have that title for a reason.

His new look at least breaks the mold of the previous actors so I wouldn't mind.
I can imagine him being a Doctor at some point.
Oh no. Nope. Not even gonna accept that one.
Yeah Melling has mannerisms far too simmilar to Smith

Would make a nice companion though. Is interesting both young Troughtons have suddenly come up.

No no no.
Moffat is not choosing an older actor. If it's anything like when he auditioned for Matt it will be a mix.
The auditions for Eleven were made up of people mostly older than Tennant. Matt was the only one younger.
Age has nothing to do with it.

Odd, I do remember seeing a post somewhere (not on Facepunch) where it said Moffat was reaching towards older actors, slightly older than David at the least.

No I meant he is not specifically sitting down and saying "ohh time to choose an older actor". He would just audition whoever is decent enough to get through to auditions.
Bored? Read the thread on GB from the day Chris was announced as 9 and see that sometimes fan favourites do get the job.

I love how it was rumoured to be Eccleston and nobody believed it- and then it happens and everybody loses their shit with joy. Oh please be Capaldi.

The Valeyard was between his 12th and 13th. IF that means a "12.5" or one of those two numbers I guess is undecided?

Yeah, I do remember something about 12 and 13.
Interesting to see tomorrow's threadsplotion
Moffat nailed it for me when he said he didn't really understand what the Valeyard was supposed to be.
Depending who you ask, you get different answers.
Best to just leave it for now.
It's not Capaldi. I'm sorry but it just isn't.
There's no way they would cast an older Doctor and risk the fandom in America right now. :(
As if it would effect it.

Jesus he's 55 not 75.
I figured Mr. Valeyard was a byproduct. Like, said regeneration goes crazy-nuts from the Doctor's near-death fears and he just pops out from the Heart of the TARDIS or something.
I dunno, something unexpected from the regenerative process, like the half-human guy from Journey's End.
Interesting to see tomorrow's threadsplotion
if you replaced your avatars text from kill me to random doctor who shit like "NOT CAPALDI" it would work for tomorrow
I just want to say. That good luck to whoever it is.
Being revealed as the face of the biggest British serial drama in history is one thing.
Being revealed live, infront of an audience of the most hard to please fans, then being interviewed, then being "advised" by past Doctors, then having to sit there with a group of 'celebrity fans' and listen to them go on about your casting, then have to sit through video messages from every tom, dick and Harry (even reality TV stars).
Fuck it. Whole thing is a terrible idea designed to scare the actor away.

I'm kind of hoping Matt's regeneration will be big and explosive like David's, if that's the case.

Peter Capaldi responds to an american fan who can't fan-girl over him:

The person who said the announcement of 12 will come in the first week of August (turned out to be right) says Andrew Scott is The Doctor.
Gallifrey Base HATES Andrew Scott. Genius.
As an American, I am all for Capaldi. So much so, I'll probably be disappointed tomorrow.
You'd be incredibly surprised. People need someone young to fan-girl over. :v
Guess Hurt is screwed in the 50th.
Capaldi could make a good Valeyard, though.
Agreed - I have a great respect for Capaldi as an actor in a similar way Chris. They just make interesting choices of what to do with their career. I'll be bummed out if it's all just bullshit
Capaldi is a more versatile actor - Eccleston has never done comedies
Guess Hurt is screwed in the 50th.
You know that's different. :v:

GB would hate whoever it was - which makes it entertaining either way. Screenshot the best comments tomorrow or something

Will do.
Already seen pages of Andrew Scott hate. Specially over his "cringe worthy" Moriarty.
I don't know much about British actors, so for me everyone would be a new face.
Capaldi could make a good Valeyard, though.
Yeah, this. I would go for this.
If Capaldi gets in I'm expecting at least one article claiming controversy because of all the swearing malcolm tucker did
in fact that's sort of a reason why I think it may not happen - Dr who is sort of a kids show and he would be a risky choice considering the parts he is known for
to be fair Matt was in Secret Diaries of a Call Girl before Doctor Who but no one really gave a shit
Let's talk regeneration while we wait for 7pm.
How do you guys want/think Matt will regenerate emotionally and physically? I think this one is gonna be a bit more like Chris's since he's not alone and he's got a companion with him so he's going to have to be a bit stronger for Clara. Probably not as explosive as David's either.
re: Capaldi's role in The Thick Of It affecting how people would see him if he was cast as The Doctor: I seriously doubt anyone will actually care about it. He's an actor, it's not him on the screen. I mean, the Daily Mail might write a couple of stories about it, and a bunch of dumb British soccer moms (what the christ is the British equivalent of that?) might get offended and send two or three complaints in, but he's a decent actor and would definitely bring something new and exciting to the role.
