The best position to put Smith's doctor through would be to have him behave in a way that suggests he was going to come back, and then he doesn't like very matter of fact, goodbye clara, see you around and then one line thats really heartwarming at the end
Let's talk regeneration while we wait for 7pm. How do you guys want/think Matt will regenerate emotionally and physically? I think this one is gonna be a bit more like Chris's since he's not alone and he's got a companion with him so he's going to have to be a bit stronger for Clara. Probably not as explosive as David's either.
I'd want it to be explosive, maybe even more explosive than Davids. I had a theory that his regenerations could be getting more explosive because he's reaching the end of his regeneration cycle, and his body makes itself even stronger. I mean, 4 fell down from a moderate height and had to regenerate, meanwhile 10 fell down god knows how long, crashed through a ceiling window and landed on a hard floor with just some scratches. So seeing how 12th Doctor would be his 13th body, I'd expect it to be really catastrophically explosive.
I really hope he goes out similar to Chris. A teary but heartfelt goodbye. Maybe a great big hug for Clara and a kiss on the forehead before he pushes her away and begins to regenerate.
As I've said before I'm fair sure the regen cycle has been quietly killed already [editline]4th August 2013[/editline] or maybe on his 13th regen he'll come back and be like "oh what a surprise" and it turns out the time lord government just imposed mortality on the time lords without them knowing because immortality is bad
Or the Time Lords kept the cycle locked down but seeing how Gallifrey is gone that "supression field" of sorts might be gone and thus The Doctor can adventure forever more!
what time will this be EST c:
Well looks like a late night for me to watch this
I wonder if the wait for the next doctor was like this back in the days of Classic Who. "i have good money on this colin baker fellow" "bullshit i'm pretty sure it's pertwee coming back" "y'all are cray cray it's sean connery"
IT'S HAPPENING *Reads thread* IT DIDN'T HAPPEN
what time will this be EST c:
2 PM
Question: What happened with the regeneration cycles that River used on the Doctor to save him? Were all of the used to save him from the poison?
For australians, the ABC will be airing the special episode live as it happens in Britain at 4am this morning. There will also be a recap at 8:30 tomorrow night.
what time will this be EST c:
It's gonna be a simulcast, just like what they will do for the 50th Anniversary. [editline]4th August 2013[/editline]
Question: What happened with the regeneration cycles that River used on the Doctor to save him? Were all of the used to save him from the poison?
I'm hoping this will be the explanation for Doctor Who to continue beyond 13, the regular amount of regeneration Time-Lords are supposed to have.
From now to the announcement this is the official song for the thread It's like a dramatic version of the Doctor Who theme.
holy shit 2:38
Daily Mails source claims it will be somebody everybody will recognise. Please not Chrid O'dowd
Tonights the night!!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/articles/The-Line-Up-for-Doctor-Who-Live-The-Next-Doctor Anyone shouting, ‘Is there a Doctor in the house?’ during tonight’s Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor won’t be disappointed… Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor) will be there in person and Matt Smith (the current Doctor) and Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) will also be contributing. The marvellous Bernard Cribbins (Wilfred Mott) will be there in person and there’ll be contributions from former companions including Anneke Wills (Polly), Katy Manning (Jo Grant), Janet Fielding (Tegan) and Bonnie Langford (Mel). Writer and actor Mark Gatiss also features in the show by way of a specially recorded video. Celebrity fans in the studio include Rufus Hound, Liza Tarbuck and from Outnumbered, Daniel Roche. There’ll also be video contributions from Professor Robert Winston, Jo Whiley, Bruno Tonioli and following his appearance in The Power of Three, Professor Brian Cox. And, of course, the next Doctor will be there…
Guests tonight
this whole live announcement show is nothing more than bbc trying to cash in ratings and is completely over the top
I don't care who it is until I've seen their first four episodes. GB saying Andrew Scott would be bad because they didn't like his Moriarty is just like DS saying Benedict Cumberbatch would be good because they like his Sherlock. I don't think they understand that actors often play more than one part. As for tonight, can we keep Davison, Cribbins & Professor Brian Cox and ditch the rest? Chris O'Dowd is playing around.
Anyone know a good breakfast place in Cardiff?

Thanks guys. Will try them all, gonna be spending quite a bit of time here.
I got a VPN especially for this so I can watch iPlayer.
I remember that it was being filmed at Elstree Studios
Why are these two cool cats hanging out? [editline]4th August 2013[/editline]
I don't care who it is until I've seen their first four episodes. But the rest is totally overblown. It's making it a bigger event than it needs to be and it will just annoy people. [editline]4th August 2013[/editline] Tom Hiddleston had a hair cut this week from a big BBC stylist in preparation for a "new role". So he's doing something TV..
Chris O'Dowd would make a brilliant companion I think. I can't see him carrying the show as Doctor though
What time is this on tonight? I am incredibly hyped
7pm, only for 30 minutes though apparently. I would've thought it'd be an hour.
glad they're not dragging it out to be honest, i just want to know
All that flash shit in 30 minutes. It'll be uncomfortably tacky. [editline]4th August 2013[/editline] Feel like putting money on Tom Hiddleston but it's too late because every fuck has closed down because of Peter Capaldi.
Anyone streaming it? I could watch it on my TV but it would be fun with others.
Could be anybody really, but this is from the BBC website.
Hiddleston actually seems like he'd be pretty good in the role, if I had to bet on a younger actor it'd probably be him or maybe Rigby.
