The word is (and I heard this a long time ago but didn't want to post it until I knew more) Moffats entire plan for his run was to make the show into an international hit leading towards selling the show to BBC Worldwide. The benefit is that the show will become bigger than it's ever been before and won't rely on the licence fee. It will become self financing. And eventually one of the biggest properties on the planet. This is where David Yates comes in with his movie. Then it will come back to our screens after that under huge new management and budget.
