I do want it to be slightly more serious but in a way that will come naturally with Capaldi. Smith is naturally silly, of course he can be serious, but it all depends on the actor.
He's got the potential to be very emotionally intense when the time calls for it:
The same episode the earth explodes, some tree royalty sacrifices herself and some innocents die. Not a good example imho.
But it wasn't represented in an overly dark way. Like say Dalek where it was very intense for the whole thing with little to no jokes. Plus The Doctor himself was being silly all the way through. Even when Rose was mad at him he still had his goofy grin intact. Every Doctor has dark episodes and light episodes. Series 1 was struggling to strike a balance and identify a tone. So you get a few more darker ones than usual. But overall Chris was fantastically silly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Obviously the fans of the show are very happy at the casting of Capaldi. But how did people you know who aren't "Massive fans" that post on internet forums react? Gallifrey Base uses the term "not-we". How did the "not-we" that you know react? [editline]5th August 2013[/editline]
Perfect time for the Shalka Master to return!
He already came back! Utopia. Shalka Master = Derek Jacobi Utopia Master = Derek Jacobi. In my personal canon I've replaced Richard E Grants Doctor with John Hurt.
had to make this :D also first one to make 12 :D
The Wilf one is brilliant haha [editline]5th August 2013[/editline] I've grown to Capaldi now. I was so used to the trend of a younger actor that I believe it's good to be spontaneous once in a while. But I think I like this older doctor role because Jenna Coleman really suits the sort of companion who wants to travel and know more things, rather than have a crush on the doctor. It kind of reminds me of the old days really. More like the Doctor is a father figure than a potential lover :v:
If a read one more fucking "Capaldi is good but it's another white male" I'm going to fucking scream. I bet most don't watch the show. Why the fuck would Moffat sit down and say "time to do some casting. Better cast a black woman, to be different". I thought the idea of feminism and equality is that everybody should be treated equal? Now we're expected to act like black/white are so different you should be casting a different actor? A black Doctor WILL happen. Inevitably a female Doctor will happen. So what is the great rush for it to happen now?

That guy that admitted he was wrong about 12 has elaborated on what exactly he heard to lead him to his false conclusion. Interesting? Maybe. If true.
My understanding has been, the show will go off air for a while after the 2015 Christmas special, at which point there's going to be some restructuring with the management to BBC Worldwide and the possible development of a feature film for realease around 2017. Before Capaldi was cast, I was told they were looking for a known star, male, who was older. I suspected it might be Michael Sheen, who's name I'd seen mentioned for the film. Putting what I know together, my speculation was that whoever was cast as 12, would carry the show for a season or two and then go onto the film. But with Capaldi, I'm not sure they'd do that. So the film plans could have been shuffled forward slightly. Which could mean the show might be rested a year later after 2016. Or they stick to the plan, and Capaldi will only have a short run, before regenerating into a bigger star for the film. I know Matt was leaving this year and I'm under the impression Moffat will leave after series 8, or possibly stay on for series 9, with a co-show runner. Which would likely be Chibnall or Gatiss. But seeing how I was wrong about 12, I could be wrong about everything else. I don't think so though.
Capaldi has already fronted a film. After two years in the role he could easily front a Doctor Who film. All this could still be correct. Capaldi could be that "known star, male, who was older".
fuck rumors
Why does he sound like a small asian man?

They obviously won't be able to go full on Malcolm Tucker but I hope he's at least sarcastic and snarky "It's bigger on the inside" "REALLY? I mean I wouldn't have noticed, I've only been living here for hundreds of bloody years"
Is it bad that when I watch Doctor Who (Originals) I don't really pay attention? But go to the next episode when its over?
Is it bad that when I watch Doctor Who (Originals) I don't really pay attention? But go to the next episode when its over?
Yeah just watch it.
Yeah just watch it.
The main one I did it with was Marco Polo.
How you doing? I'm back.
Welcome back after your unjust imprisonment. [editline]5th August 2013[/editline]
The main one I did it with was Marco Polo.
An episode that hasn't got all it's parts? Just start with Baker.
Welcome back after your unjust imprisonment. [editline]5th August 2013[/editline] An episode that hasn't got all it's parts? Just start with Baker.
But I want to watch all of the Doctors. [editline]5th August 2013[/editline] Also to clear this up, I do pay attention, but not to every episode in a serial. But I do know whats going on.
Was this ever posted? I checked back since like the announcement but didn't see anyone post it. [editline]5th August 2013[/editline] I mean, yeah, clear photoshop, but nice nonetheless.
So I just found out Doctor Who use to be an Educational show.
Ehhhhhh. Use the term lightly. The remit of the BBC was to (correct me if I'm wrong) to inform, educate, and Entertain. The only reason it could legally take the publics money was because it promised to do al three. Doctor Who was to educate, that's how they got it green lit. So they had to make the odd historical story. It's why historical episodes pre 1970 have no sci-fi elements and are often based on real events. Wasn't till the 70s that changed and they started dicking about. They were too popular to worry about not meeting BBC rules. So they started putting sci-fi elements into historical episodes.
Well I finished the First Season of Doctor Who.
You really rushed that. 1 episode a day or 2 with a long break. Really not designed for marathons. [editline]5th August 2013[/editline] Latest Doctor puppet! In this instalment Eleven runs into the Delgado Master. If you've not seen the first 3 episodes catch up!
Doctor Puppet is such a wholesome, fun and kinda cutesy series. I love it.
Should be on TV. ANYBODY with a Capaldi display picture; I love you.
You really rushed that. 1 episode a day or 2 with a long break. Really not designed for marathons.
I haven't been watching them everyday, I only started watching them again yesterday after a month break. I watched The Sensorites and Marco Polo yesterday and I watched Reign of Terror today.
I feel like Capaldi is going to be my obsession like JLC/Grizz. Except I've never met Capaldi :( ....and people on my Twitter have :'(
Anyway I decided if I know enough to know what's going on, I won't re-watch them unless I want to. By the way when I say I don't really watch them, I mean I do, but I get distracted, then I watch a bit more and then I get distracted. Anyway Marco Polo wasn't interesting to me but I decided to listen to it anyway. [editline]5th August 2013[/editline] Damn you Dan.
I found that at first. You do warm to it if you just force yourself into it. It's an acquired taste. Though I was watching colour episodes so it was a bit easier.
