Yeah Classic-Who is an acquired taste. Didn't quite like it at first myself but believe me you do warm to it once you 'get it'. It took me many many serials before I 'got it'. Then it's very hard to distinguish it from the current series. Just remember that they weren't designed for marathons. Each part was supposed to be watched with a weeks gap between. Also this early in the show nobody knew what to expect. That shot at the end of part 1 of a police box in a dusty old plain was groundbreaking. Now it's how we start every episode :v: The word Timelord isn't mentioned until the end of The Second Doctors era. It's very different.
Neat! Is it alright to skip episodes once in a while? I never do it with the new series. unless its THAT episode. or the other.
Neat! Is it alright to skip episodes once in a while? Or just start from 3rd Doctor and work your way up. Wait until the missing episodes are all one day restored (hopefully). Speaking of missing episodes..... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember that rumour that a shit ton of old British TV was found in Africa and among them was Doctor Who. Allegedly missing episodes of Dad's Army were among them too. The only missing episodes of Dads Army are three episodes from the second series. BBC denied any episodes had been found of anything. Dads Army Series 2 is six episodes long. 3 are missing. So it's quite odd how this appeared the other day: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00t2ksr/episodes/guide "There will be 6 episodes. More information coming soon" 6 episodes? But there's only 3 episodes of Series 2 that aren't missing. Which seems to suggest the missing 3 have been found... makes you wonder what else has been found and previously denied to exist. Let's see how this one plays out.

I saw Alpha Papa the other day and Jon's son Sean is in it and it was really freaky how much he looked and sounded like his dad. It looked like The Third Doctor with really short hair. It freaked me out. He could EASILY play The Third Doctor.
Got the Episode 2: The Daleks. I love how the episodes are clearly connected. Just starting it.
I've always liked 60s/70s stuff, so it's something I could watch.

not so fantastic now
I've always liked 60s/70s stuff, so it's something I could watch.
After just re-watching the last two stories of season 13 (Brain of Morbius, Seeds of Doom) I feel content to say that the Philip Hinchcliffe era. of the show is my most favorite.
machine-ah
For the sequel they've replaced Jon Pertwee with Christopher Lee. Should've been Tom Baker.
Since 2010 Amelia has become the most popular girls name in the UK. Rory has also had a slight raise.
Since 2010 Amelia has become the most popular girls name in the UK. Rory has also had a slight raise.
She's the most fleshed out companion in new who. I mean. She almost lasted an entire incarnation. I've actually missed that. Companions being more than just people riding a timey-wimey taxi. Also, her character was fucking fantastic. I really wish they hadn't executed them so quick and randomly. They could have been so great. Imagine if THEY were around for the transformation into the 12th.
I liked them but it was time for them to go. I was getting sick of them.
I was thinking earlier What if 12 is Scottish because of the effect Amy had on 11?
I liked them but it was time for them to go. I was getting sick of them.
IMO, they had pretty much run their course as characters. Them divorcing and not being able to have kids in AOTD felt pretty contrived anyway. You know it's one thing to run into someone not interested in Doctor Who's "Classic" era and prefer the new one for reasons involving easier to enter & watch (understandable), better quality (effects maybe, but there's some classic episodes with great story. Caves of Androzali, anyone?), and prefering the new ones (only okay if you don't go as far as the type would start calling the first 7 or so "old" and "ugly", and don't even know McGann exists). It's another when you run into the type who do the opposite with the new series. I know I spoke of a Doctor Who music mixer who had some criticisms with new series direction, but was never too hostile, but I managed to find another, more unreasonable one searching through the comments on Twelfthdoctor.avi. Ladies and gentlemen, LegoDalek. I don't even want to watch his "review/spoof/parody" vids. His comments tell me his anger is enough that he reverts to such grand nicknames as "ReTarD" and "Steven Muppet". Classy.
Am I the only one who's slightly sad how David's hair will look in the 50th? (based off of our current photos of the filming)
I've seen far more unreasonable than that. A lot of people who loved the classic series growing up despise the new series. You can see why, it's nothing like the show they had growing up. It's like the Star Trek fans who despise the new Star Trek movies. Plenty exist. Most seem to believe Capaldi will make it all grown up. Just setting themselves up for disappointment. It will be the same show with a less zany Doctor.

Well you won't catch him riding dinosaurs but there's nothing stopping him being Tennant or Baker level silly. Which is good in my eyes. He's different enough for it to be a wonderful change.
He's different enough for it to be a wonderful change.
You don't know that to be fair. This is the problem with casting someone everyone loves - they have to live up to it now! :v
Well just how he looks and how much a 55 year old man can do compared to a 26 year old is enough to signify it will be a difference. If it's a good difference or a difference that lives up to expectations is another matter. He better wear a scarf though. Just no semi-casual-formal clothing like the last two.
This is the problem with casting someone everyone loves - they have to live up to it now! :v
That's the fun part.

Up to part 4 of The Daleks. Not bad! Wondering if I should skip some episodes though.
