Really want to go on the TARDIS tour now. Would've been a good thread meet but I'm broke.
One of these should happen around the 50th.
Since my dad has directed some episodes of Doctor Who before I've been in the 9th/10th era TARDIS. It was a good time!
Sure, I'm basing mine off of the OP right now.
The ones in the OP are my personal favourites, but they may not necessarily be the best.
For the sequel they've replaced Jon Pertwee with Christopher Lee. Should've been Tom Baker.

Tell us more! [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] Did you meet anybody?
Met David/Freema/RTD at a script reading (which I sadly couldn't stay completely for). Went to the prop house and saw the TARDIS exterior, the spinning christmas tree, a cybermen head and many more. Like I said I also went to the TARDIS set while they weren't filming on it, I believe the Sarah Jane Adventures set was there to if I recall correctly. I have a sontaran raygun sitting behind me right now infact along with a signed David Tennant poster and I have Freema and Catherine's autographs somewhere as well. :) You can probably tell who my dad is from this post but if you do figure it out I'd appreciate you not posting it for identity protection n all that.
Fuck you Dan, Freeze is now the King of the Thread! Who is your Dad? We can see if he is a bad director or not [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] It's Douglas Mackinnon (I think). He directed that Sontaran two parter, The Power of Three and Cold War
Well he directed The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky, The Power of Three and Cold War so you can tell from that. Some of them may not have been the best stories but I'd like to think they at least look damn good visually with the camera n such. EDIT:
It's Douglas Mackinnon (I think). Ah well. :D EDIT2: And also before you hate on The Power of Three because I know someone's gonna say it, he's just happy it came out as well as it did at all. They were still filming parts of it after they had filmed Cold War so the script was really jumbled about n such (not necessarily Chibnal's fault it's just what happened).
Y'know I tried to not get you guys to say it out loud. Did you even read my post haha? Ah well. :D
What? We'd all Google it anyway. I'm just cutting out the middle man.

Also important stories such as ones where companions come and go (unless they're missing). I don't really know much about Doctors 5,6,7 so just threw in stories I've heard. I left out some companion-goodbyes and introductions as they were just so damn shoddy. I've bolded episodes that are considered among the best episodes of Doctor Who's history. The rest are just the good ones. [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] That list is for Rapist by the way. [editline]13th August 2013[/editline]
Well he directed The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky, The Power of Three and Cold War so you can tell from that. Because of the direction and I loved the story. Off the top of my head I think Grizz was the only one here who disliked it. It seems to have a VERY positive reaction around the web. Cool dad. HOW COME YOU NEVER MENTIONED THIS!? [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] Actually I really dug the direction on the Sontaran story too. But Cold War was some of my least favourite stuff :/ I just didn't like how the monster was slotted in. The ship at the end looked crummy. But I guess it was more down to budget than direction. The rest of the episode was quite tense. Your dad is one of the better directors on Who.
I never felt the need to bring it up! Whenever I tell people about it I feel like I'm bragging haha. EDIT: Hopefully he'll be able to do more some day! He was originally going to do Crimson Horror instead of Cold War I believe but the scheduling didn't work out.
EDIT2: And also before you hate on The Power of Three because I know someone's gonna say it, he's just happy it came out as well as it did at all. The rest of 7A was horrible
Nah Power of Three and Asylum of the Daleks are in my top episodes list. I hope he does more. The directors shift around a lot, a lot of the good ones disappear. I found out the other day that Euros Lynn who worked on the RTD a lot directed a few scenes in The Beast Below (such as the one with the big window and the stuff with holding Amy outside the TARDIS). He should be directing whole episodes! Not pick ups! [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] How do I always end up with the children of Doctor Who people. I used to have Moffats son on Xbox. He was... bossy.
Before Cold War and Power of Three my dad directed some of the mini-sodes (First Night/Last Night). Also I think he did the opening scene of Planet of the Ood. iirc that is.
Incase you missed this. Moffat chooses his favourite Doctor Who stories, one for each Doctor. http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/moffats-favourite-doctor-who-stories-45154.htm Robert Shearman gets two mentions for audio work. Shearman wrote Dalek too. He should come back if Moffat likes him so much. Oh yes. He should come back.
sooooooooo any chance you can get us in the tardis freeze?????
The Christmas Invasion for David Tennant? Really?
my friend carried a painting of jimmi hendrix to matt smith's flat in london once, does that count???
Depends how far he went into the flat and how long he stayed. :v:
my friend carried a painting of jimmi hendrix to matt smith's flat in london once, does that count???
Man, Matt has such fine taste.
The Christmas Invasion for David Tennant? Really?
He can't name his own episodes :v: I'd go Library.
I'd go Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Timelords I think I can quote those nearly word for word. [editline]13th August 2013[/editline]

Makes me die every time. I know somebody who I worked with on a short film once. He was an old guy and said he worked with Tom for some radio stuff and he was absoloutely dire. Rude and sweary all the time. But fucking hilarious and had everybody in stitches with his insults and put-downs. Honestly he makes a better Malcom Tucker than Capaldi. "Fucking Albanians".
Assuming I'm not allowed to say the Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky (even though I honestly believe even without the influence of my dad directing it I would still have loved it) I'd... actually it's a really hard choice. Library was good, End of Time was good (sorry to the people who don't like it - I loved it :v), Midnight was good. Waters of Mars maybe? I don't really know. There's so many on the same level! Even though David was my Doctor and also my favourite Doctor I don't think he has as good stories as Matt does. Better Doctor in worse stories imo. Saying that I don't think of RTD as being a bad writer at all though so I don't really know. Matt has more episodes that are either stand out or a complete flop. It's hard to explain.
Eccleston - Dalek Tennant - Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last Of The Timelords OR Human Nature/Family of Blood Smith - The Eleventh Hour Best Series overall - 5
I can agree on Eccleston's best being Dalek. So good.
Eccleston - Dalek Tennant - Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last Smith - The Doctors Wife Best series overall - 5 [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] Jenna Coleman talks about meeting Billie Piper. I like how the second paragraph is about 3D and how different it was to film. Even though nobody will watch it in 3D.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/showbiz/421637/Bill-Nighy-turned-down-the-role-of-Doctor-Who Nighy could have made a good Doctor
Yeah he was approached for Nine. Was all over the tabloids and forums at the time. But officially Chris, David, Matt, and Peter were all the first choice for the part. Even though Hugh Grant, Idris Elba, Paterson Joseph, and Bill Nighy all say they turned it down. [editline]13th August 2013[/editline]
I like how the second paragraph is about 3D and how different it was to film. Even though nobody will watch it in 3D.
If it's only shown in cinemas in 3D, I will. [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] Oh boy. Outpost Skaro is nearly certain John Hurt has a recurring role in Series 8. Christmas read-through: John Hurt was apparently present according to rumours.
Let me remind you of this tweet: I replied to this tweet 'Aren't you only in for the 50th? Did you just spoil something? :D' and then minutes later the tweet was deleted.
