That's kind of how I hope 11's life ends. Something short and sweet. Like he defeats an enemy and just before it dies it shoots him with a laser as he's leaving. He falls down all wtf, has a brief moment with Clara and then regenerates. All the explanation of what happened is then given by 12.
A good sudden, tragic death. But I guess it's unlikely. I suppose the actor earns those departing words. Seven being shot like that would have been so much better as a series cliffhanger or surprise plot twist. But it worked because he was alone and the film wasn't all that reliant on continuity. 11 regenerating without a goodbye scene with Clara would probably be seen as a meh moment in the long run.
Steven already said at Comic Con he's going to make it heart breaking. I still want 11 to go out smiling. It would make it even sadder. But the reaction to Sylvester being killed off so quick in the TV movie was toxic so don't expect that.
That's probably because he didn't get a proper goodbye. No companions, no farewells, just bang dead. Matt could still have a short and sudden death but be able to say his goodbyes (even if it's just something like "See you round, Clara Oswald"). Or even something like the fifth doctor's death might work. If we know all the way through the episode that he's dying, but have him struggle on and the scene where he finally gives out is only short. So expanding on this further, something happens to him at the start of the episode (he gets hurt or zapped or whatever), but he quickly recovers and insists that he's okay. Then after the big bad is defeated he just sort of keels over and goes "oh yeah that thing that happened before has kind of been destroying me from the inside out but I had to save everyone" and then he regenerates. That would be heartbreaking AND sudden as he'd been battling on while in utter agony.
It will be interesting to see how long he takes to die. Both the last two Doctors effectively became terminal as opposed to mortally wounded. They had time to sort their affairs and say goodbye. A fatal wound that leads him to a slow death which he tries to fight through to say goodbye would be sad.

He's been doing this for 3 seasons where no one randomly shoots at him. It'd ruin any suspense of disbelief i have left when it comes to his enemies never actually attempting to harm him anymore. Just not a random shot in an otherwise awesome scene where he seems in control. That'd utterly break the scene. Maybe him being captive? I dunno. Pregnant? Dies in childbirth?
Can't tell if I'm just really tired of if you just suggested the Eleventh Doctor should die in childbirth. Nevermind. Now have the mental image of Matt Smith with his legs spread, panting and screaming at a midwife. Then Peter Capaldi. Thanks a lot.

Is it bad that I knew the 9th was gonna regenerate, when it got to the whole last scenes that I teared up? even though i've seen it before.
It's hard to believe we're up to the 4th Doctor since 2005.
All four could have shared two years each since the relaunch :v:
Holy crap, the Doctor Who.tv site featured one of Eighth's Big Finish stories. Sweet, some showcasing of that Doctor's expanded universe adventures! Ah, if only they could do the DWM comics. I've read the last two volumes, they're quite good.
To be fair with The Doctor thing: Chris only did one series. If he did 3 we'd be pretty much on point with The Classic Series. And we're teeeeechnically not on 12 yet and won't be for another year :(
Just over four months until we're on 12. I move on quickly.
Oh yeah I forget his first appearance is Christmas. Or the 50th. I'm hoping for a 50th cameo. The words "Peter Capaldi is in the TARDIS" still make me grin. Grinning now. I'm even using tumblr just to follow everything Capaldi. They LOVE him over there. Lots of Thick Of it Gifs. And this which made me realise how great a Doctor he will be: Also this: Really Tumblr is the place to be if you like Doctor Who, indie/rock music, and tits.
I met him when he was in The Ladykillers. A very nice man and a damn fine actor. He signed• my autograph "To Kevin, Fuck right off, Peter Capaldi."
Hope he does that for all the kids.
If we're going off the lies we create for our usernames I feel that i should tell you i am not actually a star sign
Late by one hundred and fifty posts, but I'm afraid I'm not a nobleman or the sixteenth person named George in my family. Or maybe I am and I don't know it yet. Hmm. [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] On-topic: I'm thoroughly disappointed with my girlfriend's sister. I told the two of them that Peter Capaldi is going to be the Twelfth Doctor and she reacted like all of those faux fangirls on Twitter.
Oh my god. A girl at my uni who stopped watching Doctor Who when David Tennant left has always moaned about how crap an actor Matt Smith is. She was your typical fangirl. The sort to haunt your nightmares. I told her to watch Series 5 and if she didn't like it, I'd leave her alone. She's on 7 now and texted me to say she prefers Matt Smith to David Tennant. YES I FEEL LIKE I DID SOMETHING GOOD
Oh yeah - today is 100 days exactly until the 50th. Also slightly fucked my A-levels, but got a clearing place at Manchester University, so "whoopdedo" Also I'm gonna have that Capaldi avatar Dan has to confuse everyone - because I can

I only ever applied to my local and got into my local via clearing. It wasn't so much fun going to Uni while living with your mum. I wish I went ANYWHERE. Nottingham or Manchester as they have the best student radio. Probably wouldn't have got into Nottingham but Manchester. I fucked up. I'll regret it forever. But oh well. Also... You fucker leave my avatar alone.
Indeed. There was a reputable news outlet (can't remember which) that said Hurt was going to guest all the way through Series 8. We dismissed it as a mistake on their part. But now..
I'd be really excited to see John Hurt's Doctor alongside Twelve and Clara, but above all, I still want to see a McGann/Hurt regeneration scene and a Hurt/Eccleston regeneration scene.
"I am become Dan, the destroyer of worlds" - Robert Oppenheimer [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] My avatar looked like he's mocking Dan! - haha brillant
Apparently the Christmas special is called 'The Twelfth Night'. EDIT: See Dan's title for this post though.
"I am become Dan, the destroyer of worlds" - Robert Oppenheimer
Damn it you just took my exact picture. Didn't even make your own. There are other cool Capaldi faces you can have :( [editline]15th August 2013[/editline]
Apparently the Christmas special is called 'The Twelfth Night'.
Is that from your own sources or just the rumour that's been floating around for 9 months?
Is that from your own sources or just the rumour that's been floating around for 9 months?
The rumour. Didn't realize it had been going around for so long though!
Yeah. It came hand in hand with the "Matt leaves in the 50th and Christmas is 12s first story". Hence the name "Twelfth Night". Wouldn't be nearly as clever if it was an Eleven story y'see. I imagine if it was called that, it has changed since. It would still be good for Twelve's first story. Eleventh Hour Twelfth Night Thirteenth Month?
`And The Clocks Strike Thirteen`? Whatever the opening line to 1984 is
The Twelve Days Of.. Forget it.
Outpost Skaro is reporting the rumour everybody could've guessed: S8 will have a new young male companion to work as a love interest for Clara. Inevitable. The only reason they had male companions for the first four Doctors was so they could handle the action scenes while The Doctor does the clever dramatic stuff. Harry was only written because 4th Doctor was originally intended to be an old man. When it ended up being Baker Harry no longer had a purpose and was written out quickly as possible. Though it's 2013. No reason why Clara can't and shouldn't do all the action herself. But I guess they need to have a love story. I just hope this guy isn't another 'slightly awkward loveable guy' like Rory and Micky. Write him as a companion that can stand on his own. [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] Fucking hell. Scrolling through this thread feeling like I'm having an identity crisis.
Fucking hell. Scrolling through this thread feeling like I'm having an identity crisis.
If it makes you feel any better, your .gif starts before Grizz's.
I'd like someone like Captain Jack to be in Doctor Who with Capaldi - or at least someone similar. Someone who isn't a love interest, but isn't an awkward/adorable male companion either. Moffat is terrible with love for the most part - apart from The Girl In The Fireplace. Just because she is a woman doesn't mean she has to fall in love with a man on the TARDIS. I have my unlikely feminist hat on the moment. [editline]15th August 2013[/editline] Also Grizz has another Clara avatar. Everyone look!
