I would expect a first look at the 50th to be included in the BBC's Autumn Programming preview. I could be wrong, but I would be surprised if it was advertised sooner on television / web.
When is that?
i like watching dr where
i like watching professor why
Here's a point of discussion - assuming the Daleks won and conquered literally all of time and space with nothing that wasn't Dalek was left in existence - what would they do then? We use our emotions for entertainment and Daleks don't have those, so what would they do? Fight each other?
I don't think Darvos thought that far ahead
Also - someone should REALLY make a version of the Doctor Who opening oculus rift supported.
When is that?
Used to be in July. They have just put up a short teaser for Atlantis, though. So it's probably coming. [editline]24th August 2013[/editline]
When is that?
Used to be in July. They have started teasers for Atlantis, so it should be soon. Ninth Doctor BFI Notes from Cultbox:
» Phil Collinson: “From the moment we cast Christopher Eccleston people [in the TV industry] changed their expectations of what the show was going to be.” » Phil Collinson: “If Series 1 [in 2005] had failed that would’ve been it forever [for Doctor Who].” » Phil Collinson: “There wasn’t a moment when it was actually considered [that Christopher Eccleston would be a rebooted Doctor rather than the 9th Doctor].” » Phil Collinson: “It felt like we were pioneers. In this country we were making something completely new.” » Bruno Langley: “It was always going to only be two episode [as Adam].” » Phil Collinson: “It’s no secret that that first year was difficult.” » Phil Collinson: “There was a shot of John Barrowman’s bum [in ‘Bad Wolf’] that we had to cut … but everybody’s seen it anyway!” » Phil Collinson: “I can’t wait to see Matt [Smith] and David [Tennant] together [in the 50th anniversary special]! I was so envious watching that sequence with Clara [at the start of ‘The Name of the Doctor’].” » Phil Collinson: “In Russell [T Davies]’s first document he redefined the Doctor with the Time War. It made the Doctor feel more mythical, to be the last of his species.” » Phil Collinson: “[At the screening of ‘Rose’] I was sitting behind Terrence Dicks and Barry Letts and they turned around and said ‘we hope this is good because we walked out of the last one’ [the 1996 TV movie].” » Joe Ahearne: “We shot a fake ending scene [for Series 1’s finale] instead of the regeneration with the Doctor looking at a monitor and discovering that Rose had a fatal illness.” » Phil Collinson: “[Paul McGann] was on the first casting list we put together but we felt we had to make this a brand new start.” » Phil Collinson: “Russell [T Davies] was told ‘you’ve got to make it a show we can put out at 9pm or a children’s version we can put out at 5pm’.” » Joe Ahearne: “[Christopher Eccleston] was always a complete and absolute trooper … there were a lot of laughs even though it was tough.” » Phil Collinson: “[Getting the rights to use Big Brother, What Not to Wear and The Weakest Link in ‘Bad Wolf’] was a bloody nightmare!” » Phil Collinson: “[The almost-regeneration in ‘The Stolen Earth’ being a surprise] made it a better viewing experience. I think the internet should be banned!” » Phil Collinson: “We only ever had Christopher Eccleston under contract for one series … [but] what a way to end our first series! Actually there’s something perfect about [him just] doing 13 episodes.” » Phil Collinson: “The first cut of ‘Rose’ was 28 minute long with everything we’d shot and that happened with a couple of episodes in that first block. That’s where the ‘coming up next’ [preview trailers at the end] came from! We didn't want to have them!”
[editline]24th August 2013[/editline] Something went wrong with the post and I can't edit it - so ignore the duplicated start :v:
i like watching professor why
I like watching "Medical/(more like)Humanitarian Expert What the flying fuck, Batman!" [editline]25th August 2013[/editline] I'm sorry. But when there's an Edge, someone's gotta Push it. Dont' hate me for what i do!
I wonder how many regeneration scenes will be in the 50th. There's so many chances for them. You could have Paul McGann into John Hurt, John Hurt into Chris, timelords regenerating during the timewar and maybe even Matt regenerating (okay that's a big stretch and really just a theory but still :v: ). I was thinking, and they could do John Hurt's regeneration to Chris like this: ''The Moment' has just been used and within Hurt's TARDIS 10, 11, Clara and Rose are standing there. Behind them is 11's respective TARDIS (10's TARDIS is within 11's - TARDISception). 'The Moment' required John Hurt to sacrifice himself absorbing energy or something (not creative but you get the basic idea). The Hurt Doctor's body starts to fail. He's holding onto the TARDIS console struggling. 11 and 10 look at each other and they both know what to do. They take the Hurt Doctor and hook him up to a machine not much unlike the the one that 10 used to rewrite his biology in Human Nature/Family of Blood. The companions ask what the two are doing and the Doctor's explain that they need to remove the memory of meeting the four of them (while still keeping the basic timewar memory in there) as it could mess up the time streams slightly what with Hurt already knowing Rose. Once the process is done they unhook him and they all stand back. John Hurt starts to regenerate. Radiation starts to spurt out of all his limbs and as he starts exploding with that energy the two Doctors and their companions get back into the TARDIS leaving him to regenerate. After the episode is apparently over, as 10 and Rose leave back to their own time stream, everything is fixed and all is well - there is one final scene at the end. In this scene we see one of the versions of the TARDIS circling out of control, down to earth. It crash lands on it's side in an empty place. The doors blast open and a bout of regeneration energy is seen and then dies down. The camera zooms out a bit and it is seen that the TARDIS has landed in a rose bed, and some Autons are outside it, watching. The final shot is a hand coming out of the TARDIS (that looks very similar to Christopher Eccleston's) and grabbing onto the side of the doors for support as if about to pull himself out. That's when the credits roll.' Thoughts?

Happy McCoy Day of the week on this long weekend. I started the day by finding GallifreyBase's fine endorsement of Miracle Day & Dancing on the Edge.
Jenna's cleavage display being a particular highlight, that two minutes on it's own was better than all 10 hours of Miracle Day.
I've put many minutes in to constructing a counter-argument. But the last time I talked about Miracle Day on FP, I took an extended vacation to a nearby refugee camp, so I'll just accept it and move on. Are we all looking forward to getting our hopes up for a 50th trailer release tomorrow, which will never come? By 'never come' I mean 'never come' in the same way Peter Capaldi would 'never' be The Doctor. I hope.
I'd like Torchwood to come back to the UK, I really enjoyed it then and Children of Earth was fantastic
I'd like Torchwood to come back to the UK, I really enjoyed it then and Children of Earth was fantastic
For many reasons. Especially this one.
Christopher Eccleston might not be reprising his role as the Ninth Doctor in the 50th anniversary special (despite being approached), but he has talked about the 100th. In a special message at the BFI’s 50th celebration of the Ninth Doctor, Eccleston said: “I love the BFI. I love the Doctor and hope you enjoy this presentation. Joe Ahearne directed five of the 13 episodes of the first series. He understood the tone the show needed completely – strong, bold, pacy visuals coupled with wit, warmth and a twinkle in the performances. He added: “If Joe agrees to direct the 100th anniversary special, I will bring my sonic and a stair-lift and – providing the Daleks don’t bring theirs – I, the ninth Doctor, wow to save the universe and all you apes in it.”
Maybe the 75th?
Maybe the 75th?
Or the 10th anniversary of the revival. Would be a great time since it was Chris' doctor that made the show popular again.
He's just saying he'd be in the fiftieth because he knows he might not be able-bodied to bathe in that river twice. :(
He's just saying he'd be in the fiftieth because he knows he might not be able-bodied to bathe in that river twice. :(
Took me a few seconds to realize you weren't talking about River Song. Oh god the mental images
Apparently Capaldi is going to keep his accent for the Doctor.
Apparently Capaldi is going to keep his accent for the Doctor.
Tennant should have too, but what he got was p. good too.

For the 10th, it should be Chris and Capaldi - their Doctors will probably complement each other in a similar way to Matt's and David's Doctors in the 50th

The guy seemed really confused and keep muttering, "They’re all gone, I'm the only one left". The man was either a complete loon or was drunk. Looking back I think he was probably drunk as he looked as if he'd been to a fancy dress party. He was wearing some old Edwardian outfit, not a leather jacket.
i think that's a nicer way to do the regeneration for 9
