After 4 months and 28 versions, the final 50th Anniversary poster has been handed to the BBC.
It has at least one revealing surprise on it, to be released very, very soon.

it feels like oswin, so possible a early design before they had everything tied down
Who wants to bet that on the poster there's another Doctor?
Thank the gods for Blue Peter.
Weren't they the ones who lost it?

(Paul, please.)

The dream: another Doctor.
The likely truth: A villain of some sort
could be gallifrey
Davros or the Master maybe?
Guys! I think I know what it is! I think it's probably Batman.
Imagine that poster. Three Doctors: Hurt, Tennant, and Smith standing on a cliff opposite a ruined Gallifrey. AND BATMAN. JUST FUCKING THERE. Standing next to Hurt looking all proud like he just fucked Gallifrey up himself. The Doctor destroyed Gallifrey- he asked Batman to do it.
In all the interviews people are like "What has Batman got to do with 50 years of Doctor Who?" and Steven Moffat will roll his eyes and say "Why does it fucking matter? Batman is in Doctor Who? Why are you even complaining?".
Fairly certain I'm on to something.
I would love an episode where the Doctor ends up with Gotham and has to help Batman fight against some mind-bending villain.
For a second I thought it meant they were airing the actual special on BBC 3 :v:
I guess this could be the long speculated Mark Gatiss program with talking head interviews and newly-filmed footage of the classic Doctors.

I hate to post spoilers but this is the plot of the 50th, trust me.
The working title is BatWho and there's a Hi-la-rious scene where Batman paints the TARDIS black and insists on calling it the Bat-TARDIS. Nolan is directing and Bale is back as Batman.
Regenerates into Affleck at the end. The tagline is "Every Batman ever". Adam West and Tom Baker are a great double act. It's very good. Great Batman celebration. The Doctor bits are alright.
Been watching the proms and i found the perfect thread title in there. "50 years and still not ginger."
I dunno why, but that just forced me off my chair.
Didn't the Fourth Doctor have ginger sideburns? :v:
Paul McGann was ginger. :v
None of them were ginger they were brunette. Just Tom had chestnut brown sideburns in certain light. McGann had dark brown hair.
Colin was really as close to ginger as you'll get.

it's as if these actors don't know not to put that sort of stuff in your cv until after it airs

I've been thinking, one way they could get some of the older Doctors back for cameos could be this:
The three Doctors have been captured by the higher powers of the timelords and are brought to Rassilon (or whoever the timelord leader is at the time, it's him right?). They are guards behind them, armed and they are standing infront of the throne. Rassilon looks down on them and says how bad they are for what they were planning to do (the moment). For this they must suffer an ultimate punishment. The high court of the timelords decide that the Doctor will be stripped of his age defying ability throughout all time (or something like that) as a punishment. Slowly there are flashbacks to older Doctors all ageing suddenly, maybe even mixed in with older clips to seem like they've started ageing in the middle of an old episode. Obviously the Doctors somehow get this fixed.
This is a VERY rough idea, and it would need a lot of things sorting out to make sure it worked well but this IS a way they could do it somehow.
The rumour seems to be via some kinda of advanced CGI that will leave us confused as to how it was done.
A long time ago there was rumours Peter Jackson (because he's such a big fan and desperate to be involved with the 50th) agreed to use his time and money on mo-capping the old doctors while they were down under to animate younger versions of themselves. CGI was Gollum-level realism. Apparently. But that stinks of bullshit. The other rumour I heard along with this is that the special has some celebrity guests stars that will blow your mind. A-list actors and stuff that begged to be involved in cameos. Along with classic Who characters popping up EVERYWHERE. Including characters you wouldn't expect such as Dalton back as Rassilon. But to me it sounds like rabbid fan dream and speculation.
I bet the past 9 Doctors are all trapped in paintings and animated like Harry Potter or something. Apparently Matt got in a wee bit of trouble after alluding to that on Jonathan Ross.
To be honest nobody has any idea and that's how I like it. The Capaldi announcement is still the most exciting Who moment for me since Utopia.

I had heard rumours about Yana being The Master back then but nobody believed them. Then when you saw it all fitting together it leads to you shitting yourself.
Same happened with Capaldi. I started picking up on all the little clues and then when Zoe said his name I died.
A portrait room on the tardis would be pretty badass
Mm, excited to see what the paintings thing is. I've got a feeling people being trapped in paintings is going to be a big deal. Specially with it being partially set in the British museum.
Moffat said the fake trailer online had a lot of stuff VERY CLOSE to what was actually in the show. A lot of people hope he's talking about the sequence where the hand comes out of the painting, was sufficiently creepy.
I'm still trying to understand Dan's obsessions with reading every spoiler.
Is it because you put off the hype by searching for information?

Utopia wasn't that exciting for me because about 2 or 3 episodes into the series, me and a friend were talking and we had basically gotten to the point where it would have been more surprising if The Master wasn't the villain in the finale. Then when I read that Derek Jacobi was a guest star, I said there and then he was playing The Master, so when that scene happened it was less "Holy Shit!" and more "Ha! Nailed It!". It didn't help that the Face of Boe stuff was spoiled in the 2005 Annual.

Really?
Really?
Yeah, there was a whole two page article in it, mostly about the Doctor and the Time War, but the last paragraph was about the Face of Boe, and his secret. I'll try and find it again and post it, but it did ruin the whole surprise of the reveal when you've known what he was going to reveal for almost two years.
I don't mean to be rude but can we stop or at least spoiler tag rumours about the actual content of the special? Even if they're just rumours it slightly ruins it when/if it actually happens. :v
Maybe it's just me though and if so rumour away.

Holy shit I remember this!
A bit late but it was my birthday not long [sp]2 Months[/sp] ago, and I only got one present: It was a pair of socks with Daleks on them and that limited edition framed Anniversary Stamp Collection.

I know the 1996 movie isn't a good story but I really have a soft spot for it. At least the first half. Plus McGann nailed it better than most.
Really set the tone and style for RTD. Even the theme tune of 2005 is closer to the TV movie than the series.
It was probably the 4th/5th story of Doctor Who I ever saw but my memory of those early Tom Baker ones is next to nothing. It's my first strong memory of Who.
0:43 on that theme is what makes it the best Doctor Who theme imo. :D
