Not improvised. Capaldi says rehearsal was the only time they would improv. He never improv'd himself, not as much as the others. Tuckers dialogue was written by a team and then sent to a guy who made it even more colourful.
Sure seems like overreacting. It's like hearing about World War I back in 1789 and going to Australia to avoid it.
Wouldn't the Doctor try to fix it?
"Hey Doctor. If you stay on Gallifrey you will become a war monster and be responsible for the genocide of your entire race and family. Get out of here"
"Why should I listen to you hmm?"
"Because I'm the Hurt Doctor motherfucker"
"Shiiiit son, hmm"
Could be convincing

Someone walking up to you and saying "yo i'm you from the future" sounds kinda improbable, especially when the Doctor avoids going into his timeline. Paradox and all that.

But if he's already told himself to stay away from Gallifrey, then he'd have to go back and tell himself eventually, otherwise he wouldn't have listened to himself and run away from Gallifrey in the first place :v:

Plus, if he went back in time to warn his first incarnation about the events of the Time War and what he did in it, he'd be forced to go through those events anyway because he gained the knowledge of it from the future to prevent a paradox from occurring, wouldn't he?

there are so many rules overturned in doctor who, just look at the two doctors.
grand father paradox clearly averted in that one.

The whole "I gained knowledge about future events, so now I'm forced to go through with those events" rule has been present throughout most of present-day Who, and has gotten a lot of emphasis in Series 5 and onwards.

Plus that would be so tragic, with the doctor knowing for hundreds of years that he was going to destroy his entire race but knowing he has to do it anyway

Only if time is a straight line.
It's not. We all know this by now.
It's a ball of Wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. That's all the explanation you need.

Even more when you think of all the incarnations of The Doctor that have managed to run from Gallifrey and stay away without destroying it.
It's no surprise The Doctor would strip away the title from the Hurt incarnation. The one that stopped running.

Actually, I've been thinking about this a lot all morning. What if the Twelfth Doctor, just before he dies (because twelve Doctors + Hurt not-so-Doctor = thirteen incarnations, which is the Time Lord limit), goes back in time to tell a young First Doctor of all the events that will transpire throughout his life, and because of this rule, he is forced to go through all of those events to prevent a paradox from occurring?
That would probably be a bit too much. Would remove some of the Doctor spontaneity and genius from the show.
I wonder how Paul McGann regenerated. Forced maybe? So he didn't have to do it?
EDIT: Pre-ordered the 50th DVD, expected date of arrival is Dec 3rd and that's on First Class for anyone that's wondering. Even if it sucks I'll still want to own it on DVD, and normally I'm not a DVD guy.

Cut his tongue while sending a letter.
Think I'm going to order series 1-4 of the revived series of Doctor Who in a few weeks, haven't seen quite a few of the Eccleston series and I've got a bit of a nostalgia for the Russell T Davies era going on at the moment.

Undetectable brain aneurysm.
Soon as the credits start to role in the TV movie. BAM. He's dead. After that The Doctor decided playing that record was incredibly unlucky and never played records in the TARDIS again.
Until Rory and Amy insisted on playing darts and listening to Muse (Rebel Flesh). Treating the TARDIS like a late 00's pub.
I like to imagine the TARDIS actually contains a late '00s pub.
An interesting 50th celebration

Went through every Series 7 track and gathered all the songs that have some form of "I Am The Doctor" in them. If you're bored and want to check them all too, go ahead! I just finished only to realize I missed a few, so maybe there are more.

I hope Matt's regeneration song includes this theme and can't wait to hear how epic it'd sound. Unsure if this will happen though, since Vale Decem didn't have David's theme in it (I think?). Then again, not many tracks had his theme in it, did it?

Seen it, and the remix is pretty amazing. However, his regeneration music should be more orchestral in my opinion, like Spoonheads https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2VSJB6U788&t=1m19s
Maybe not as uplifting, but you get the point.

Sort of spoilers but pretty much stuff we've already heard. He's more drawing attention to some specific stuff we've seen already.
I think this is what I'd like his regen music to be
Fifty years ago, today (19.9.1963):
The first recorded scene of DW was shot (caveman shadow on Tardis at end of ep.1)
Fifty years ago, tomorrow (20.9.1963):

- Those famous publicity photos of the regulars in the classroom and junkyard were taken.

As if they shot the first scene before the principal cast met. Just shows how slapdash TV was back then.
If we assumed that the entire Silence thing hadn't been built up and it somehow made sense (Moffat could do it) - how would you feel if 'Are you my Mummy' people or a variation on them came back for Matt's finale.
I personally think it would be cool to see them come back but at the same time they were so good in the first episode I dunno if they could top that.

They can't come back. They weren't an alien race. They were clones of a little boy looking for his mother. There was an exact set of parameters for him to be created.
He was emotionally unstable, was wearing a gas mask, was killed by a piece of space debris falling out of the time vortex, space debris that just happened to be an alien ambulance full of malfunctioning nano-machines which turned everybody else into a template of what they 'thought' humanity was based on the broken body of a dead child they found first.
It's impossible for it to come back without jumping the shark considerably.

Common practice actually. Still happens today. The cast won't meet until a read-through and not everybody attends that (Hurt and Billie Piper weren't at the 50th readthrough). So they first time is rehearsal. Rehearsals don't happen anymore either.
For a high profile show like Doctor Who, major cast (such as companions) will have to screen test. But Capaldi and Jenna won't meet until they film his first scene because he probably wasn't at the Christmas readthrough. I think Steven said there was no screentest with Jenna.
I didn't need a description of what they were, I know what they were. :(
What if some of the infected nano-machines were left over and they infect someone else but the person they infect is locked underground or something. The Doctor comes to a help signal, finds him and accidentally sets him free. Since all the other nano-machines were shut down he'd have to find another way to stop them.
