So the version of the theme in the 50th trailer was done by another company.

So I guess it won't be used in the show then? :(
Trust in the gold, I expect something good still!
It's the 23rd of October! You know what that means?
[sp]only three months until my birthday woooo[/sp]
oh neat just a month to go
I like the lookalike more :v:
But it's not Pertwee. Everybody else had an original picture extensively recoloured. What we've got is a look-a-like. I think it might even be Sean Pertwee.
Imagine how better it would've looked if Pertwee got the same treatment :/

Please, it's actually my birthday in just over a week.

The fact remains I didn't know that wasn't Jon until you told me. I think that's the sign of a good enough look-alike if what you're saying is true.
Heck, the resemblance is ten times better than what Richard Hurdell had to Hartnell thirty years ago.

That's the weird thing about it. I mean he has the wrong head shape and eyebrows and hair. But the nose is there.
I'm gonna say it's a specially made image with Sean being the original template.
November 23 marks the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. Alongside the special anniversary episode of the show featuring both Matt Smith and David Tennant, BBC America are set to air a special Who themed drama called An Adventure in Space and Time.
The drama is based on real events — the creation of the TV show Doctor Who. It features Harry Potter star David Bradley as the first Doctor (William Hartnell) and Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife) as the show’s first producer, Verity Lambert. Hollywood big-hitter Brian Cox (Bourne Identity) plays the show’s creator Sydney Newman while Sacha Dhawan (Last Tango in Halifax) plays director Waris Hussein.
An Adventure in Space and Time is written by Sherlock’s Mark Gatiss and directed by Breaking Bad’s Terry McDonough. Rumor has it that Gatiss and Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat will appear in the show as Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker respectively. An Adventure in Space and Time will also air in the UK on BBC2.
I've heard the Gatiss one. Some say that's him in the trailer. But the Moffat one is new on me. Pretty funny to imagine too.
Edited:
I heard Gatiss would appear in a segment about the filming of The Three Doctors. But I'm doubtful the episode will even go that far in the show's history. How would Baker fit in? Hartnell and Baker never met. Unless before his death Hartnell has Doctor Who on in the background.
Oh man imagine Moffat acting.
Edited:

Matt Smith tried to get David Tennant back as The Doctor on a more permanent basis. Moffat liked it but said no.
Anyone have any guesses as to how much the cinema tickets will be for Day of the Doctor?
There better not be squealy fangirls that destroy my eardrums when Tennant appears.
I honestly wouldn't mind a spin off show based on The First Doctor, seeing adventures we didn't see before as played by David Bradley. Thing is though it has to look like a 60's production with bright colours, 25-minute long episodes, and synth based music.
But combine it with modern costumes, CGI, and direction.

Did they forget to CGI out the look-a-like?
If I may ask, which is the look-a-like.
I'm Watching Arrow, its so weird seeing Alex Kingston without her hair in curls, and lacking an accent.
If I may ask, which is the look-a-like.
Man, I had the exact same question.

Please explain.. Universe was fantastic.
The appeal of Doctor Who is wacky over the top family fun. You watch it and you want to travel with The Doctor. Every week is a different story, a different adventure. There's a story arc in each series, sometimes they're hidden and blow your mind at the end.
It's wacky, over the top, family fun. There's no show like it. It's more fantasy than Sci-fi.

Yeah, but when that's one of your favourite shows (Specially compared to the other Stargates) I can't help but think Doctor Who is not your kind of show. SGU was dark and serious. Doctor Who is anything but. it's more in tune with SG: Atlantis if anything.
I also enjoyed some SG1 from time to time, never bothered with Atlantis. Both of those shows felt like fanfiction compared to SGU.
Man, I had the exact same question.
Well considering the face on the right still has a 70-s colouring, you can guess the one on the right is Pertwee.
I'm gonna say left is a look-a-like or a composite image. A lot of fans are up in arms about it. Wait till they realise the colouring on the Hartnell image was based on a look-a-like. Or Sylv's and Colin's face isn't shown at all.
There's one forum full of people who hate the new trailer. Doctor Who fans. "style over substance" is one comment I read before I angrily shut down my computer and went outside screaming.

The point is, if you like SGU more than SG1 and Atlantis (which I still think is mad as half of SGU was bland and generic and went nowhere) then you probably won't like Doctor Who.

SG1 and SGA were Stargate before SGU. SG1 set the standard. SGA expanded on it. SGU changed it, lost it's viewership and went away. SGU does not represent what Stargate should have been. Apart from Robert Carlyle.
( & I liked SGU, but it's predeccesors were miles away more enjoyable. )
You would probably prefer Torchwood if this is what how you see Stargate. Children of Earth was one of the best things that the BBC has ever made.
