How long was Hurt kicking around for then? The Time War must have lasted tens of thousands of years for him to age that much.
Assuming that each Doctor aging in multi-Doctor stories are explained in context, it seems that most of the incarnations die fairly "young" in their body. The War Doctor could easily have aged due to being forced to age, being held prisoner in a forced time loop or something akin to what the Master subdued the Doctor to in Utopia, though. So if that is true, then the Eighth Doctor has been around for a loooooooong time.
Running.
[sp]I thought I was spoilt in seeing two doctors in a very short space of time, but three? Wow[/sp]
Wait what!?

Yeah. Heard a while ago that [sp]Moffat and team are scanning through unused Chris footage to do the regeneration[/sp]
EXCITEMENT.
(minisode)
[sp]the destroyed ship scene looked a lot like the remains of 8's TVM console room - nice nod, even though the TARDIS couldn't have been destroyed.[/sp]
[sp]Also, Big Finish canonicity - bold.[/sp]
I'm so excited that i'm actually looking up where to buy a Fez and White 3D glasses. My little way of celebrating the 50th.
Isn't there another minisode? Last Day or something?

I'm looking at the idea of a cravat, a frock coat, fancy vest and a wig. Because you know.
BTW, did Children in Need air yet, or are we taking joy in the spoiling of their "surprise"?
I think the Children in Need Who skit is just a clip from the episode.
Also, I picked up the special souvenir version of DWM, at the cost of about three days' worth of food.
Could this sound plausible, could they carry on an eighth doctor series in parallel to the 12th/13th? (I don't know where Peter Capaldi fits in now)
Depends on how the 50th handles the Time War. They could keep it open and potentially pave way for an 8th Doctor series. Stories from the Time War, or something.
just saw the minisode
IT'S GREAT :v:

[sp]ECCLESTON IS COMING BACK FOR A REGENERATION SCENE[/sp]
Heh, in the little facsimile of a 1st anniversary special issue that came with DWM, one of the fans' letters is from a P. Capaldi, age 6. :v:
Isn't there another minisode? Last Day or something?
That's a DVD only extra I believe.
Well what a surprise by any means, also Science of Doctor who is on tonight, looking forward to that

will they show this minisode in cinemas before the thing? my girlfriend needs to see this, but she's been avoiding spoilers to the point of not knowing what peter capaldi looks like :/
it really depends on the cinema, some probably will and some won't most likely

Minisode Spoilers:
[sp]The completist in me… the ‘box set man’ in me wants every box ticked and I wanted every regeneration scene![/sp]
[sp]-Moffat, http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/articles/Steven-Moffat-on-The-Night-Of-The-Doctor
EVERY regeneration scene? :D [/sp]
I think we may have had something confirmed, read the last line
[sp]Q: Finally, running a show like Doctor Who is always going to be hard work… But how much fun was it? Bringing back the Eighth Doctor?
SM: Oh, it was a complete treat! It was always frustrating that we never got to see more of him! The completist in me… the ‘box set man’ in me wants every box ticked and I wanted every regeneration scene! And we get to see the Paul McGann Doctor regenerate into the John Hurt Doctor! I love regeneration episodes – there’s nothing more exciting! And in the anniversary year we get to see two regenerations… That’s pretty cool![/sp]

Minisode Spoilers:
[sp]Maybe McGann will also come back in flashbacks in the actual 50th, when the Doctors are explaining how the timewar started? The minisode WAS filmed on the last two days of 50th filming.[/sp]
Steven Moffat has insisted that he is not changing the numbering of the Doctors.
I’ve been really, really quite careful about the numbering of the Doctors. He’s very specific, the John Hurt Doctor, that he doesn’t take the name of the Doctor. He doesn’t call himself that. He’s the same Time Lord, the same being as the Doctors either side of him, but he’s the one who says, ‘I’m not the Doctor.’ So the Eleventh Doctor is still the Eleventh Doctor, the Tenth Doctor is still the Tenth…
