Woah woah woah, he wanted to be in the 50th anniversary but he wasn't written into it?
I thought the only reason they didn't have more Doctors was the fact they couldn't get them to show!
I would have loved to see an old fashioned Who romp with all the Doctors having an adventure to show the 50th year of this amazing show, i really don't care if it's serious or gritty since almost every episode now has grit to it.
I know people hark back to previous anniversary stories and previous multi-Doctor stories. But it must have been so easy back then - and it still fell down in places.
William Hartnell, bless him, still soldiered on played his part - but The Three Doctors was limited on the First. The Five Doctors was actually the 3.5 Doctors - and had 90 minutes. The Two Doctors had over two hours. This episode... is 75 minutes.
Imagine - Eight Doctors featuring prominently (and potentially a sprinkling of companions). I'm not sure how dignified an affair it would have been - or if anything of any note could be achieved. Paul McGann has swept in and had the best shot of it so far. Returning - for the 50th anniversary - for a seven minute mini-episode! Probably would more air time than he would have got otherwise.
They will be represented, even if they aren't running down corridors together. Perhaps there has been some audio recordings we don't know about. Will it be a fitting episode to mark the occasion? We'll find out (*jumps an hour ahead*) this week!
The Five Doctors was 100% fanwank. And that's the reason it was great.
I think that there's a audio with McGann and the other Doctors that is more fanwank.
I am so freaking excited for Saturday.
By the way, let's pass the time by imagining cool crossovers that could happen with Doctor Who. Like the Doctor landing in the middle of the Muppet Show and being the guest star for that episode.

Define "fanwank" in this context. If you just mean "style without substance", I'd agree a bit on Five Doctors, but I don't think The LIght at the End (if you're refering to that) is that bad. Sure, I haven't listened to it, but I've heard good things.
Sure want to hear it now. The reference to Eight's audio companions in NotD indirectly makes Big Finish's work canon to the show (more or less). That's got to make it a nice secondary 50th story, for sure!
Just from that video, starting to prefer mcgann to smith
Just from that video, starting to prefer mcgann to smith
he definitely has a distinct style that's bordering on playful but i think it really captures the hyperactive mind and nature of the Doctor.

I liked that in the short, you see an even more relaxed and cool, yet playful doctor than 9 was. They've had this erratic, fun-laden madness curve grow exponentially with each doctor since they started the new series and it seemed to me that 8 was the starting baseline to that specific trend of fun madness.

He was lying through his teeth when this interview was done.
This was before it was revealed he filmed his mini-episode.
The Doctors for the last year have all said they're not involved. Sylvester and Colin on separate occasions have even said the words "Paul isn't involved". Paul said he's never spoke to anybody on the Doctor Who team (though he did look quite excitable and fidgety back at the Australian convention when he said "I guess the phone call could come at any time). It now seems like everybody is lying.
All the classics could be in the special. Infact I'll guarantee it. You will see every Doctor in the special. However you will not see the actors as they are now throwing on the costume and playing the role physically. If anything it will be body doubles, CGI, and newly recorded voice work. Or maybe we'll see pictures of them. I can't see why not, there's been non-anniversary episodes where we've seen pictures of past Doctors. To think they wouldn't reference them on the 50th would be mad.

It's got good reviews, not full marks or anything. Most seems to say it's incredibly fan wanky though like Five Doctors it's enjoyable. It's written by Nick Briggs who is the most fan-wanky writer imaginable. When somebody on Gallifrey Base asked what it means for the show now that Big Finish is canon somebody responded with something along the lines of: "Great, Big Finish is canon. Which is mostly Nick Briggs fan wank and a few classic stories from good writers".
But apparently the adventure is a nice listen. The interplay between 4 and 8 is supposedly brilliant.
Of course the past Doctors will be at least referenced in the special. Considering that part of the episode takes place in [sp]a museum dedicated to The Doctor[/sp], which - according to the Children in Need clip - contains [sp]paintings that are coming to life or having elements stolen from them[/sp], it seems almost a given that other past Doctors will make an appearance in one form or another.

I think I do too. I think I'd need to SEE a lot more McGann first.
I never noticed it before but McGann has a gravitas that neither Tennant or Smith had. He manages to deliver the wackier lines ("BRING ME KNITTING") without losing that gravitas. I love Smith. I love Tennant. But McGann's performance gives the impression of a man who has had 8 faces. You believe he has the memories of meeting Davros, of fleeing Gallifrey, of saying goodbye to Sarah Jane. Chris had that, Tennant almost had it, and Smith is starting to develop it. But it's no doubt a skill that comes with age. I can't wait for Capaldi.
On Gallifrey Base a Smith fan pointed out that it's a good thing Smith is going now. Because after McGann, Hurt, and Bradley reminding us of Hartnell; it's going to be hard to carry off the child-like Doctor when we've seen the power of an older one. Perfect Capaldi timing really.

From BBC news this morning, behind the scenes on Day of the Doctor:

The "hot Doctors" ladies and gentlemen. Don't they look tired.
Oh, also it's Steven Moffats birthday. Does that mean today we get a minisode where Moffat regenerates into John Hurt?

Speaking of BBC news, they have some special effects to rival the cool TARDIS entrance:

Rabbit. I'm dying.
Yeah I can't help but feel how good this would be if Eccleston was in it. In theory Tennant could've dropped out and it would still work as a plot, but the Time War is clearly vital and Eccleston dropping out forced them to replace him. McGann's Doctor was too nice to be a violent Time War Doctor. Churlish indeed.

Let's guess the overnight-ratings!
I say around 20 million. It's on against Shit-Factor.
I say around 20 million.
Jesus Christ, Marie :v: The most watched UK broadcasts start at 21 million.
Between 9 and 10 million overnights. iPlayer +7 -> 12-14 million.
Screen-capped for posterity!
Worldwide Simulcast Ratings - who knows.

Alright, Hank :v: Maybe mine is a bit high but yours is way too low!
Don't underestimate the power of the Tennant. His leaving episode got just over 10 million overnight. All the marketing for this, Night of the Doctor being the most watched thing on iPlayer (more than actual TV shows). Coronation Street's 50th had a 6 million viewer spike.
I think it'll be closer to 20 than 10.
So that's a difference of 4.5 million more than watched the last episode on overnights. So the Linear Power of Tennant spikes us back to 10 million. :v:
We'll need an extra 9.5 million viewers to take it closer to 20. Perhaps it will. Perhaps not.
McGann's Doctor was too nice to be a violent Time War Doctor.
Honestly it would be awesome to have McGann as the Time War doctor, I think we had enough of the whole "I'm totally peaceful except for when I [sp]drink a regeneration elixir[/sp] and turn into a guy who ends the time war!11".
People can change, and that's what I would've loved to see, a brilliant romantic fall into the darkness of a terrible war, forced to become everything he was against in the name of saving the universe.

YEAH! FORCE THAT ENTHUSIASM!
Black guy is my favourite. He is cool as fuck, even though he doesn't like Doctor Who. Only one who's not totally over enthusiastic adult-child. The girl who doesn't watch it but screamed and freaked out because it's about time travel freaked me out a bit.
The one girl who likes Capaldi and wants him to "weed out the fake Whovians". I like her opinions on the whole thing.
[editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
A Prime TV trailer (a New Zealand channel) had the line: [sp]So you two are my replacements are you?[/sp]
Why not just called it The Three Doctors 2, Moffat? That line would've been great from Eccleston.
I remember when Capaldi was announced everyone here freaked out about the Tumblr crowd being stupid, but in the end they didn't give a fuck and just kept drawing porn as usual.

She looks like a cartoon (sorry if she posts here).
For some stupid reason, the cinema in my town is only showing the 50th at 9.30pm, so from 7pm till we sit down and watch it in the cinema my girlfriend has banned me from the internet or TV so i don't spoil anything.

5 days left and now i'm starting to dream about the 50th anniversary episode. This sucks, gotta hate waking up and realising that it was all just a dream.
