I still think these are terrible designs. The design before this made the Cybermen seem like the cold, dark, unfeeling, emotionless, intimidating post-human robots that they were. Now they are just overly complex with unneeded curves as well as random edges, lines and shapes that seem like 'decoration'. They have lost any scaryness they had. It's mostly the head that is the problem, though. Just compare this:

I read somewhere that they are, or atleast a mix of both, the cyber-wars (Mentioned in Nightmare of silver) had the mondas cybermen fighting the Earth Empire, after the cybermen got defeated they were in stasis on hedgewicks world of wonders.
Like I said there is a possibility of cybus cybermen being involved as well, if so then they would of mixed their technology together.

Also considering the fact that the cyberiad (51st centry cybermen) are humans with the robot body built around them are exactly the way Mondas made them.

1 hour left here in France. All of my friends are partying, while I'm ready to watch The Day of the Doctor tonight, and hell I love the fact that it airs in France 4, where Doctor Who is one of the few series to air in the right episode order. This is'nt that bothersome for standalones, but when it's a serialized one, what a mess... Anyway, let's enjoy this day !
So i am waiting in the cinemas snazzy directors lounge and theres a group of what looks like some old school fans. for them this day must be quite special indeed. Nice to see also 40 mins o.o
