But seriously, that was fantastic. And I can't wait for the Christmas special now, I had thought they just had forgotten about that story arc involving the Silence.
Don't think that could've been any more perfect.
something better then zygons.
But if that scientist in the tower [sp]handed the Zygon her inhaler, they'll think they know which side is which, but earlier they got switched when she knocked the zygon over and stole her inhaler back.
So what if the Zygon goes and tells the humans that they're the Zygons and they make the treaty unfair as a result, even though it bites them in the ass because they're still humans.[/sp]
Exactly, thank you
You don't get it do you? They didn't throw it out, in fact they've only opened up more story possibilities. The entire point was that, even in his darkest moment, The Doctor still kept the promise he made when took that name.
To everyone else, Gallifrey was destroyed. He still becomes who he was.
I despised the episode, [sp]they just took RTD's time war plot and threw it into the bin, thus destroying it's significance[/sp]
Didn't Steven Moffat contact RTD to discuss about some idea's they had for the 50th and a war doctor? I remember reading something like it months ago.

Please *Zygon
What was shown in the episode was supposed to be one of the Darkest moments for the Doctor, the one thing he absolutely regretted but had no choice with. Instead, what was meant to have happened [sp] never happened. [/sp] The one terrible thing about him is completely meaningless.
I may be completely wrong here [sp]but the outcome of the time war wouldn't have changed if they had pressed the button seeing as they all lost their memory and the daleks and timelords still don't exist in their universe.[/sp]

I recall RTD saying they should never show the time war. He probably did contact him but it was still an awful way to do it. The episode needed so much more time to establish a proper plot.

Cue my previous post. [sp]Everything that happened after the Doctor "used" the Moment still happened, because according to the view of everyone else, it was still used. The War Doctor doesn't remember not using the Moment, so he still lives with the guilt of thinking that he sentenced his people to death. [/sp]

The Doctor don't give a shit what happens to us, earth was a fling, now he's gone groveling back to his ex.
[sp]But didn't the Emperor Dalek go mad because he escaped through the time lock or something? If there was no time lock how did this happen? :v:[/sp]

RTD never said "never show the Time War".
That was Moffat.
aaaaaaa it was fantastic
I'm totally psyched for the Christmas special and Series 8 now. My favorite part was definitely [sp]when all of the other Doctors came in to trap Gallifrey and send it somewhere else. Now we know that, despite their memories being erased, the Moment never actually happened and Gallifrey can be found somewhere in the universe.[/sp]
But didn't the Emperor Dalek go mad because he escaped through the time lock or something? If there was no time lock how did this happen? :v:
It was still Timelocked. Just Gallifrey wasn't destroyed. The Daleks were.
It was Dalek Caan not The Emperor by the way!

Exactly, in fact it makes the moment all that more hurtful because it's a false memory.
I would have people watch the 50th special first, as it gives that much more meaning to what happens to Eccelston and Tennant.

But what about [sp] Timothy Dalton trying to put Gallifrey into Earths orbit? How could that happen if that part of the time war never happened[/sp] it's just an absolute mess of a plot.

This, exactly this.
RTD never said "never show the Time War".

He should have followed his own advice.
Possibly one of the worst episodes in a long time, and certainly a massive letdown for the 50th.
[sp]The whole Zygon thing was just a very uninteresting filler inbetween the Doctor stuff, the episode had absolutely no purpose for the majority of the time and was just 3 Doctors fooling around on screen without much purpose. They weren't interesting at all, it was just "Some aliens arrive and enter a special room intending to take over earth with the contents".
It all lead up to (if you can call that stuff a "lead up to") what should be the most intense and changing moment of the Doctor and one of the biggest events in time. It builds up fine, then suddenly super perfect always good most important person in the universe Clara pipes up and cue upbeat theme, we solve it all with a smile and love! Nevermind how it was perfect for a great scene, as character development for the Doctor, and how it was so extremely important to old episodes, let us ruin it with a just revealed bland plot device that 3-4 Zygons used a few minutes before, all the while Smith bounces about like a child and everything is fixed.
Honestly the only good part was the initial one with the Timelords fighting Daleks. No sorry, some cameos don't save an episode, cameos are a little bonus, not something to prop up a shoddy episode with.[/sp]
But what about [sp] Timothy Dalton trying to put Gallifrey into Earths orbit? How could that happen if that part of the time war never happened[/sp] it's just an absolute mess of a plot.
Because the that was BEFORE The Doctor used The Moment.
Timothy Dalton even says that.

Maybe it happened before the moment that was frozen?
[sp]I was a bit pissed at them wiping out the time war at first watching the episode but I think they pulled it off extremely well without it feeling cheap. Feels a satisfying conclusion to one of the revival storylines[/sp]
Warning what?
Watch the after party if you can. It's cringeworthiliy hilarious.
Because the that was BEFORE The Doctor used The Moment.

But even still it still cheapens that. It was such a cheap way to get around the doctor using the moment. They shouldn't have bothered with the zygon bit and just focused on a time war plot if they wanted to do the time war (which they shouldn't, but still)
[sp]the only thing that was messy was how the queen elizabeth story finished[/sp]
everything else works
