Imagine if Capaldi wasn't already announced and this happened.
I imagine the first thing newly-regenerated Capaldi will do (i.e. between the Christmas special and the start of S8) is go back and help the Doctors freeze Gallifrey.
So -Time Lords are back -Capaldi is angry -He's finally over the Time War -Now that the Doctor no longer committed genocide he can go back to horribly murdering aliens -The Master is more than likely coming back Throw in a male companion *cough*Joseph Giligun*cough*, get Moffat back on his feet and we're set for the Golden age.
Throw in a male companion *cough*Joseph Giligun*cough*, get Moffat back on his feet and we're set for the Golden age.
I really, really want a male companion for once, we've had hardly any since Jack and none of them are the main one. In terms of companions in general, we need more Donnas than Amys.
ElectronicG19 hasn't posted yet because he's currently getting pissed in a pub. But he sends this message of love (via Twitter):
Ty Dan, Ty I'm watching it for a second time, I loved the opening titles. I agree that the Zygon plot felt a bit.. meh. Was it really needed?
it was just a team-building exercise.
How immersive do you think the 3D was, Dan?
I forgot to say - I loved how they used the 10th Doctor's theme when they first cut to England. [editline]24th November 2013[/editline]

Doctor Who's 50th anniversary episode breaks the Timelord's number one rule and re-writes history - and reminds us why Matt Smith and David Tennant were so irritating Daily Mail article on the 50th. Personally loved it (the episode, not the article), may have watched it twice last night...back-to-back!
the special made me realise how much i miss david tennant as the doctor he was so great i loved when he started to go all "oncoming storm" to the rabbit. moffat really knows how to rip it into RTD.
I really really loved when the 10th era music played when he was first shown. Also the end bit.
What is 17162311?
Day of the Doctor. Specifically: Capaldi. The whole episode was obviously amazing. But those eyes. Acting.
Doctor Who series 8: over 500 minutes of intense eyebrows staring at the camera.
So the code wasn't some kind of made up letters and signs?
It was the time and date of the original Doctor Who broadcast.
Can I please meet a girl with the same fashion sense as Jenna? She dresses fine. [editline]24th November 2013[/editline]
How immersive do you think the 3D was, Dan?
Can't say as I didn't see it in 3D, Grizz. Because I'm a pleb. But somebody told me it was "immersive as balls".
Doctor Who series 8: over 500 minutes of intense eyebrows staring at the camera.
God I hope he's grouchy as hell. After the excited, manic Eleven and the generally energetic Tenant Ten, one who cares not for your shit would be a ton of fun.
"The Other Doctor" How many names does Hurt have at this point?
For somebody who wasn't called The Doctor, he had the most names involving the word "Doctor".
Maybe just due to the writing, but Matt Smith, while a good Doctor, swung a little too far into silly too much of the time, which hurt the show slightly when he was being serious. A finer balance needed to be struck. [editline]24th November 2013[/editline]
For somebody who wasn't called The Doctor, he had the most names involving the word "Doctor".
"The Hurt Doctor" ironically describes his character very well.
Capaldi: So, what's my motivation for this scene? Director: There really isn't one, we just need you to, like, throw a switch and stare at the camera. Capaldi: But I need to know exactly how to stare at the camera. Am I menacing, hopeful, wise, bitter, overjoyed, what? I can't look at the camera for .5 of a second without some direction! Director: Okay, you're the thirteenth incarnation of The Doctor, who at this point in time has come together with all of your past selves in order to protect your homeworld from the threat of alien invasion and certain destruction. This is a road you've been down in the past, but this time you're going to see it through differently. You can't let it happen again, which is why you're crossing your own time stream in such a way that threatens your own existence, but it's worth doing in the name of your people, and so that your past self that was essentially wiped from your memory may once again act in the name of The Doctor. Capaldi: Better.
I think it went like: Capaldi: So what's this scene about? Director: Well, The Doctor- Capaldi: That's all I need to know. Director: Well it might help to- [Capaldi Intensifies] Director: Oh my- guys get the cameras on NOW.
Can't say as I didn't see it in 3D, Grizz. Because I'm a pleb. But somebody told me it was "immersive as balls".
It was immersive as shit. The paintings looked great.
It was immersive as heck imo
honestly i'm still squeeing over that capaldi eyes moment and i never squee at anything probably my favourite moment of who ever and it was only about 1 second
honestly i'm still squeeing over that capaldi eyes moment and i never squee at anything probably my favourite moment of who ever and it was only about 1 second
Bodes well for Capaldi. I want to skip Christmas. I want to skip the post-regeneration-crisis episode. I want to jump straight into the new Doctor.
honestly i'm still squeeing over that capaldi eyes moment and i never squee at anything probably my favourite moment of who ever and it was only about 1 second
I completely agree.
Peter Capaldi, Best Supporting Actor 2013

He's got the most evil looking eyes in the history of actors. Genius idea to take this evil-looking man (who specialises in playing powerful unfriendly characters) and cast him as The Doctor. Completely different to the 11 men before him.
