I think maybe the only reason I like Clara so much as a companion is because Jenna-Louise Coleman might be the cutest human being on the planet :v:
Did Delia Derbyshire get her first on-screen credit for Doctor Who last night?
Something we should probably discuss is more detail

I bloody hope so. Not even a mention in AAITAS :(
Unresolved zygons aside, my only real complaint with the 50th was how low-tech gallifrey looked. For a culture that was said to have reached the limit of scientific knowledge, you'd think they would have had something better to counter the daleks with.
I think it was established long ago that much of Gallifrey was quite primitive.
Time Lords were just the upper class.
We got more fancy words for fancy weapons which had already been used :v:

yes
Was the Hand of Omega mentioned?
I like those end credits. Presumably not staying. But that Time Vortex has stuck around. 2012-2013, design continuity mayhem.
I do wonder if The Moment should have been able to appear as numerous companions. Wasted opportunity just appearing as Rose, IMO.
"Oh I could be someone from your future" - then clearly you don't mean anything to The Doctor you're trying to convince. Silly.

Moffat is so right about The Night of the Doctor being so good because of the surprise.
I fucking hate spoiler hounds.
except we already pretty much knew about mcgann
not much though, and that's def partly why it was great
i certainly didn't. i thought it would be hurt or tennant.
Even I thought it would be Hurt :v:
Of course McGann wouldn't be back. Everyone would have known about that... everyone...
Did anyone else notice that Peter Capaldi and Karen Gillan where in the episode "The Fires of Pompeii" ?
You guys weren't sure ehy? I was about 99% certain the night before, was talking about it with my friends.
I was sure I wanted it to be McGann, but I didn't think it would be.
Can i ask, does anyone know why Christopher eccleston, didnt reprise his role. I know he turned it down, but why?
Does he see his playing doctor who as a bit of bad part of his career?

He has always said he has been very proud of it and doesn't regret it. But doesn't want to revisit it.

Thank you. I would also guess, Christopher Eccleston has done a variety of roles since he left the show, it would be very hard to retap into his character of the doctor after such a long time of playing a variety of different characters. Turned it down due to professionalism
He turned it down because he's grumpy and left in bad terms with the show in general.

No, that's just what everyone says when they want to think that there's more bad blood in the show than there actually is, it's stupid
Churlish. But understandable.
I wonder what the soundtrack to the 50th will actually consist of when it comes out, since it was pretty much this all the time.

Xandercom's so mad over the 50th and so "Swearing off Who forever" that he's deleted all his non-"work" Facebook statuses, including his rage over the special.
Classy.

He felt he was being bullied on set by a director. A director who was struck off Who and never worked on it again, despite previously doing high profile episodes. Him and John didn't get on at all either. It was just awkward.
But it's important to remember that the bad blood isn't what stopped him coming back. It was a mix of things. He had other work (Thor 2 reshoots) and his queries simply weren't responded to. All press interviews gave at the time give the impression he absolutely wanted to return "I really want to return to that character, I feel like I'm not done" was said early in the year and later he said "[when asked about the 50th special] I can't tell you anything or I'd have to shoot you *Big grin*". But there was a cock up in communication, Chris lost confidence, and he politely refused.
It wasn't entirely Moffat (who often gets the blame). It was just a series of unfortunate circumstances. I'm sure Chris regrets not doing it, I'm sure members of the Cardiff team regret not dealing with it in a different way. But at the end of the day the special worked fine, Hurt was great, and the rewrite to accommodate for Chris dropping out has opened the show up to a rather unique opportunity to jump ahead to a story people have been waiting for forever.
I hold on to hope that one day The Doctor of my childhood, who put a twinkle in my eye, who gave me confidence in school- will return. How better to celebrate 10 years than an adventure with the current Doctor and The Doctor that brought it all back.
I'm sure one day somebody will write a tell-all book about what went down here. BBC Wales' triumphs and failures in the year that was impossible to get right.

Whole scene is a continuity shambles.
Modern buildings spotted in the background. Hurt and Tennant swap places between shots.

Hurt and Smith switch, not Tennant. And the modern buildings is probably because they didn't edit it.

Is this us being so frustrated that for once a Doctor wasn't disowned by the franchise but disowned the franchise instead. Oh god, it is... isn't it? It's... so... Fantas- NO FUCK YOU!
