I hold on to hope that one day The Doctor of my childhood, who put a twinkle in my eye, who gave me confidence in school- will return. How better to celebrate 10 years than an adventure with the current Doctor and The Doctor that brought it all back.

I once heard, on top of that, they had also already approached Tennant before Eccleston had made a final decision - in the rush for a second series. So it pushed him to step down.

Hearing him talk a ton about the show being intelligent "otherwise, the kids will spot it immediately" and then how often during the first 4 series, they winked hard for everyone to just forget and accept whatever happened, i thought he literally ragequit because he thought the show was totally retarded.
Moffat was pleased that the First Doctor mentioned Gallifrey for the first time in the special.

Like in this scene, at the end of the 50th and when the Doctors walk into the unit place. It just straight up never fits.

Somebody told me the BBC was expecting 14 million overnight and was disappointed, after marketing it on EVERY channel they own. I told them to fuck off, 10m against the X-Factor is always impressive. Though it's a shame it wasn't the most watched thing of the day :(

From the rumours about.. this one is pretty dark, some territory in this one that The Doctor has never entered before.
It's still got a lot of Chirstmas imagery. 11 is still wacky. But regeneration episodes tend to be the darkest, as do ones featuring Weeping Angels and Silents.
