Eugh Tom Bakers creepy face.
Looks like he could be the next victim of operation yewtree with that face.
Exactly why I made this awhile back:

Watched Cold War, I liked it. Not sure why though. But all in all so far this series hasn't wow'd me.

And then suddenly fucking Patient Demon from Silent Hill, jesus christ it's the Weeping Angels all over again.

Now it's Shattered Memories! ;-;
[editline]7th May 2013[/editline]
Ok, that was a good episode.
Bells of St John - Good
Rings of Arrrrrr - Terrible
Cold War - Very Good
Hide - Very Good
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS - Terrible
Predictions:
Nightmare in Silver - Good
The Name of the Doctor - Very good
Not expecting another Doctor in the last 5 minutes. Probably will be [sp]Omega related[/sp].
You thought Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS was bad?
Why? I enjoyed it...

I notice in this thread whenever we don't know anything it always ends up being Omega/Rani coming back
Because it was a rushed ending. Didn't deliver what it promised. Was just the same corridor from different angles. The monster was just hastily explained and then no longer a problem. The soloution was a reset button where all character development was insantly useless. The three side characters were totally uninteresting and at the end of it that one guy is still going to continue to live his life as a robot opressed by his brothers. While The Doctor is going to continue to be angry and scared at Clara.
Also if The Doctors name is such a big secret why was it so easy to find? Who wrote the Time War history book? The Doctor? Why? Also it sucks Clara has now forgot about The Time War and we'll have to go through all of it again.

Only when we're joking as we thought they would never come back.

That guy looks exactly the same as all those airbrushed pictures of Matt Smith the BBC have released over the years.
[editline]7th May 2013[/editline]
This would be brilliant. Smith regenerates into Hurt, but maybe he only regenerates as a consequence of something particularly universe-threatening, so he enlists the help of a past 11th and 10 and they manage to reset the timeline, causing the Hurt incarnation to be erased from history.
I wish but [sp]Hurt is definitely a pre 9th Doctor I'm afraid[/sp], which can still be interesting. Sources say Hurt was cast the moment they knew Chris couldn't do it, any part Hurt has in the special is filling in for The 9th Doctor. If things went to plan last month we would've had a picture of Chris, David and Matt together.
Hurt made time and instantly accepted the role offered to him. He explained he had never considered Doctor Who in his life but the role offered to him was too interesting to say no. People who have read the script say Hurts role is a surprisingly good tribute to the RTD era.

Not every episode has to have character development (that last anyway, but that's kinda a thing with a show that can basically have a reset button)... I enjoyed the episode, it provided a nice and interesting story, which is the goal it set out for and achieved. Also, I can understand your point on this, but I did think the side characters were interesting.
About the Doctor's name, maybe the TARDIS usually doesn't allow his companions to go to the library, but it WANTED Clara to go there.
I just hope for the 10th anniversary we get a multi Doctor for NuWho only. NuWho[sp]Five[/sp]Doctors.[sp]Hurt, Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, Twelve[/sp].
Radio Times
Developments in the plot mean that Matt Smith has to act his socks off, but apart from the odd frisson here and there, this episode is essentially a procession of duff notes that, frankly, leaves the cast floundering.
You may want to compress it a bit
I don't see what was wrong with journey and I thought rings was quite good in its own way
i agree with journey, but aside from the speech near the end rings was love and monsters tier bad imo

No way
christ half of RTD's episodes were made up of episodes exactly like Rings, it was just a fun space romp

It wasn't that bad.

Except it wasn't fun, other than some cool visual spectacles and nice speeches. It had a flimsy story. Also the Screwdriver became a wand.
Still, in my opinion a bad episode of Doctor Who is still great TV. You got to have stinkers sometimes.

It's weird to think Martha had left the series before yet still appeared for 5 episodes.
It's a bit like how Amy was in 5 episodes of this series but spreading out Marthas episodes gave it a unique feel. That's probably also something to do with the fact some of those stories were 2-parters and a straight run of 13 episodes.
I like how people officially complained about the series split on and the BBC essentially threw there hands on the air and said "IT WASN'T US! IT WAS STEVEN!".
The complaints combined with falling overnights will probably mean we'll get are usual superior format again.
oops, I think I may have made it a little too big (file-size wise)

Yea it doesn't work :( I'm in work atm so I can't.
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS was... confusing. I can only say that. The Crimson 'Orror was good but the supporting cast of Vestra, Jenny, and Strax waaaaay overshadowed the regular heores (not exactly a bad thing) and the ending was rushed, Mrs Gillywhatever's cackling madness came out of nowhere.
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS was... confusing.
It was the typical "we can save our selves by telling our past selves what to do but we'll forget any ever happened" episode, Stargate SG1 did it and so did SG:U and I think one of the Star treks may have done it.
Have some more 50th spoilers from the same person who told us about [sp]Omega[/sp]
[sp]-The Gallifrey we see is from the Time War - "The Moment" has been manipulated
- The Doctor is taken to UNIT's Black Archive to see an exhibit
- Lots of Zygon clone action, including some Poison Sky/Rebel Flesh-esque meetings between the real characters and their clones
- The paintings can be entered like portals[/sp]
Seems like an easy way to [sp]slip in to past adventures... *CGI HEAVY HYPE*[/sp]
Super Doctor 64
maybe clara is princess peach??

damn she has extra lives too
it fits
I wonder if the Medusa Cascade will be referenced. The future seer in Fires of Pompeii mentioned that The Doctor's real name is hidden and burns in the 'Cascade of Medusa herself.'
Probably just a fancy line, we haven't heard about the MC since, but it might be something Moffat uses for something.
@GB
Cyberman thing won't be addressed in the episode. Just like the last few we'll just assume they're Mondas again:
"For me the absolute joy of bringing back the Cybermen was coming up with a weird rationalisation: in the Tom Baker universe the Cybermen pretty much died out. They were incredibly unsuccessful and clunky. And then you get the Cybus Cybermen. My theory is the Cybus Cybermen were sent to Victorian days and zapped off into time and space at the end of “The Next Doctor”. They met a bunch of the Mondasian/Telosian Cybermen, and there was some cross-breeding and interchange of technology, which is why you then get the ones that look like, but actually aren’t, the Cybus Cybermen."
- Neil Gaiman
[editline]7th May 2013[/editline]
Personally for me. Every Cyberman since Moffat took over has been Mondas despite the Cybus logo.
The ones in Pandorica/Big Bang Moffat said were Mondas.
Ones in A Good Man Goes To War had space ships. Which suggests they're Mondas. Don't have the Cybus logo either.
The ones in Closing Time don't have Cybus logo or conversion method. Suggesting they're Mondas.

Neil's explanation sounds really convoluted. They don't need to explain why they look similar because the entire idea is that the Cybus ones were an alternate universe bunch but kept the design similar. It's not far fetched to assume they'd both have a similar design.
As far as I'm concerned all Cybermen in the normal universe are the Mondas/Telosian ones unless they have a Cybus logo.
